  • Replacement of a Transmission Mount/Torque Strut unit on a 2014 Ford Taurus 3.5L N/A.
    Torque Resistor Strut p/n: DG1Z-6068-A
    Heat Shield p/n: DG1Z-6C038-A
15MM wrench for main bolts. 10mm for heat shield.
I've had two flex pipes break on this car. Decided to proactively replace my trans mount prior to replacing the flex pipe (again). While my original mount didn't appear to bad, i immediately noticed the car was much smoother on the highway, with less vibration at higher speeds. I always had a slight shake in the pass seat at 80MPH and this is now gone. Also, smoother transition as I shift from P to R and D.
EDIT: Heat Shield p/n: DG1Z-6C038-A just in case yours is in bad shape like mine and you do want to replace it.

SOMEONE SAYS WHAT TOOLS ARE NEEDED. You’re appreciated. Now I know what to take home.

I know this video is a year old, but I figured I'd add a quick note. The long bolt was screwed into the transmission, and the short bolt was screwed into the frame mount on mine. Not sure if this helps clear that up.

Im trying to chase down some torque steer when shifting 5-6 at cruising speeds. Wonder if this could be it. Some say lower control arm bushing...

I had that on this car as well. It was the lower control arms in the front. The issue is the front bushing. I just replaced both front arms and that solved the problem.

@Mustang5L5 ok. Cool. I ordered a couple moog replacements. I sure hope that's it.

Do you have to jack up the transmission for this?

No. Not unless your engine mounts are failing. If they are in decent shape no need to jack anything just swap this part out.

@Mustang5L5 thank you for the response. Unfortunately the transmission mount has failed so I'd be going ahead and installing new motor, transmission, and torsion mount

So im getting an extreme seems like knocking when under load around 50-70 mph i feel it alot on the pedal think this would be the top transmission mount?

My top engine mounts were in ok shape, so I can’t really say what symptoms of those mounts being bad would be. If you revved it hard in neutral while parked, I would think you would see the motor shifting on the mounts. With my bottom mount, the only symptom I had (aside from destroying flex pipes) was a slight (but annoying) vibration at 70-80mph. Would feel it in the seats more than anything. That went away when I changed the lower mount.

Not sure what you mean? Will the engine shift? No. The engine sorta hangs from the two top main mounts. This just limits the engine twist under load. It slipped in fine without any shift. Now if the top two mounts are in poor condition then it might be an issue. I forget how many miles my car had at the time but it was well over 120-130k when I did this job. Engine didn’t move.
