    Just bought wire and small beads yesterday (lots of beads are currently 50% off at Hobby Lobby), so this tutorial is just what I'd like to try to make. Thank you!! 🧡

    I can never see these tutorials enough times. For me, they are the essentials but for some reason, each piece I do, I have to remind myself of them? Might be my middle age coming in, lol. Brilliant, concise and clear instructions. Tyfs. Will keep it in my playlist for future reference! Until next video, cheery bye from UK 👌👋🐾

      Definitely not your age dear, I’m 26 and I forget constantly especially with bead weaving all the different techniques to make flowers etc, and the same applies for every metal wrapping lesson. You’re just human ❤️

    I was always told to use at least a 22 gauge wire, but it doesn’t seem like your having a problem with it bending, great!

      26 seems too flexible though I suppose it depends on the size of the rondelles. I use 22 or 24 for wrapping small stones or beads.

      You think its too thin? I worry if i sell a piece that the loop with deform on like earrings or something. Now this brand isn't hard or soft wire riggt? Just the gauge? I make chunky pieces and i don't like smaller then 20g.. Ohh the frustration with gemstones but i love them. Some are large but drilled small

    Do you need to do the double loop around? I’ve been using 24g sterling silver wire and just doing a regular round loop without wrapping it around

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  9 місяців тому

      Personally, I would do the loop around (wrapped wire loop) for added security. It creates a stronger connection and one that will not come undone or pull out.

      Glad you liked the project anyway :) We've found over the years that our teaching is easier to follow on camera if we over-estimate our wire cutting. It's one of the trade-offs of teaching versus doing it yourself at a work table where it's easier to bend over and measure things exactly with a ruler. Hope it wasn't too distracting for you.

    Thanks. I always wondered if the gemstones were that small. Do you coat the stones? And doesnt the loops on wire that thin bend on earrings.. Or anything really?

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  3 роки тому

      Wire wrapped pieces like this are fragile, sharply yanking on the chain could easily break it, but they're surprisingly durable when used in the right designs. They do well in a lot earring designs for instance, they can hold metal charms and even some larger glass pendant. wrapping the wire helps harden it while supporting the loops. Here's a good example of the same wire being used to hold a pendant with just a single loop and some wire wraps beadaholique.com/products/seaside-princess-earrings
      As for the stones, we haven't tried coating them but it might not be a bad idea if you're looking to get an even glossier look to them.

      Take a look at our selection of 1.5 x 2.5mm faceted rondell beads, they're just a bit smaller than the 2 x 3mm beads we used in the video but they're a touch more substantial than the smaller seed bead sizes and have a nice distinct shape: beadaholique.com/search?type=product&q=rondelle&_=pf&pf_st_availability=true&pf_t_product_type=0-Product-Type%3AAll%20Beads&pf_t_size=0-Size%3A3mm&pf_t_size=0-Size%3A1.5x2.5mm

    When you are wrapping the wire loops, does it matter which direction they are in? For example, should the loops on one bead be facing the same direction (flat to the width of the bead) and the next bead have the loops facing sideways, or should one bead have the loops face both ways (one flat and one sideways)? Which hangs better and kinks less? Or does it not matter? I’m very interested in your opinion. Thank you.

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  5 років тому

      It does not matter the direction in terms of the wire sitting well. From a design perspective you can choose if they are all coiling the same way or towards each other or away from each other. They should not be kinking, but if they are, make sure your loops are perpendicular to each other as they lay. This will help it lay flatter.

      I think u get in a habit of going one direction and dont even realize it though, anyway. Like tying shoes or how my sister thinks im goofy for always polishing middle nail first. Just one of them things

    • @beadaholique

      Yes it's a soft silver platted craft wire, "dead sort" is the common term for it. You can see the kind we used here: beadaholique.com/products/artistic-wire-silver-plated-craft-wire-26-gauge-thick-15-yard-spool-tarnish-resistant-silver
