Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge with everyone, it has helped level the learning curve for me a lot!
Based on your videos I picked up an M17 and have been impressed with the relative ease that advanced programming can be done. Having said that there is a feature that I think is a must have for anyone that finds themselves making the same tuning adjustments repeatedly.
Sanwa calls this alternates (I have known it as shift mode on other systems) and it gives you the ability to assign 1 button/switch to toggle alt mode and then reassign as many switches / buttons to new tasks. So instead of going into config mode or even a custom screen I can hit switch 3 to toggle then have trim1 control throttle forward, trim2 control throttle point setting (you get the idea now) hit switch 3 1 more time and i am back to normal operations.
With the number of assignable functions available this is a powerful feature that I have not seen anyone else cover that needs to be shared. Check it out and let me know what you think.
awesome man. being able to assign those functions to the buttons is super powerful. i do a lot of that with my fpv quads and the edge tx software. ill check it out!!
@@Dorkyand40 at what point do the cars just drive themselves? All this computer junk ruins the hobby, or as you would say the "sport"?
Also, you wouldn't guess you've got a day job by the way you pretend to not beg for cash.
Great video again just got my sanwa in today....... this thing is amazing automatically lowered my times just with your video and the radio
Thanks man. There’s a few more videos I’ve done on m17. Appreciate it
All his videos are "educational". My opinion. That's what got me hooked. I needed to know certain rc solutions and he basically showed me how to solve my problems. Good job bro.
edit..... but I use a flysky nb4.
Thanks. It’s all good :)
Another video full of good info. I had no idea how to adjust expo til now. Thanks Chad
Awesome let me know if you have more ?
@@Dorkyand40 I do have some questions about using the log data to determine under / over gearing or battery short comings .
Ha. I’ve been playing with that again lately. It’s turning into a preference thing. I can get results using day different gearing just going off final drive but the car will drive way different.
What does r mode do?
It allows you to setup all of these settings into a profile in a basic sense.
You Rock ! I appreciate the time and knowledge you have shared for us !
Always. My pleasure man!
Thanks man another great video, explained it all very well
Thanks man. I tried. The iPad idea I think worked good
@@Dorkyand40 yea definitely man, your videos have definitely helped alot fpr me as it's made me realize for this summer here in New Zealand I will race 13.5 class and wait till your guys next season to build a carbon car. Keep up the good work man
Nice. Good to hear it’s going on down there. 13.5 is a tricky class here because there’s not as much money going into it. It was supposed to be a fun class but was undermined by a 13.5 motor that is really a 10.5 that people run. They’re as fast as I was 4-6 months ago now
@@Dorkyand40 we are lucky there is not really money to win here and our 13.5 class is roar approved motors on a blinky mode esc so we can have a much more fun very competitive class
Bad ass comprehensive video bro. Downloaded it for on the fly reference. Thank u so much
Fantastic. Hope it helps my man.
I am New to NPRC. Thank man. Great Videos and Thanks for the Help.
Awesome man and welcome. Let me know if I can cover anything for you. Lots on info here.
@@Dorkyand40 I have been watching you for awhile. You do a great job at covering a lot. Started to build up a DR10. Thinking about getting a brisket Chassis for 13.5 next year.
Your content is by far the best for no prep hands down💯
Thanks man. Makes me feel good hearing that.
Team Dorky&40 what we’ve been waiting for just more! Lol Thanks Bro we all appreciate it 💯💪🏾
Anytime man!
Excellent!!!!! Next let’s learn about shifting. Love the video
Ha. Maybe. Lot to do in 2s lol
Whats your favorite for NPRC tuning the Sanwa M17 or the Futuba 7pxR???? Thx and love your channel💯
The m17. It’s got the best features for throttle and steering which is equally important that few talk about. Look for my going straighter video for a demonstration. Thanks bother
What do you think about the rc6gs? I know it's a cheaper radio but it looks like it has some similar features.
Hey Kevin. So I always am right up front. I have never used it so can’t really comment on it. But I can tell you my facts in my journey. Nothing improved my program like the m17. If you plan to cross from a hobby to the sport it is a requirement. Even with a drk. The sanwa radio protocol is second to none. Smooth pwm transmission is vital for optimal performance. The ability to make small changes that show instant results is just needed at the sport level.
@@Dorkyand40 ok, thank you. I currently don't have the extra funds for the m17 but hopefully soon.
I get it. It’s a big investment. It will make you faster. Think about it before the next motor or that couple hundred on a different radio. It’s worth the hold out.
What’s up chad thank you for your videos I really appreciate your help ….. can you please explain a little more on r mode on how exactly to use it and the functionality of it I still quite don’t understand it
think of r mode as profile. so you can create different proifiles per say (settings) inside of a model. so when you first turn on rmode you can select how many you want to make. so lets say you select 2. now you can go in and set up all the settings for these 2 r modes and lets say they are all the same except in r mode 1(profile 1) you have your dual rate at 100 and a speed of -95..but then if you select r mode 2 then you might have dual rate at 85 but a faster speed ramps of -94. so you have instant access to test and figure out what works for your car. i honestly only use 1 mode now. the only reason i would make a second one is if i would like to make a (gear shift) where ievery setting is the same except one has a dual rate of 90 and the other 100. so if im racing and im getting beat i can press the button and it will change to that other mode and boom the power band is shifted magically to that r mode with 100 dual rate. i hope this helps. keep it simple. just turn it on and add like 3 r modes but only work on r1. once you get used to the menu its just as easy to change settings.
Do you have any videos of the Futaba on how the drag software works?
only tried futaba once then went to sanwa
What's up Chad. For the speed setting -95 . The time from from 0 to 100 exactly 2.05 seconds? Or is that just a rough estimate?
Replied to the other comment of 1.03. But that’s in a perfect world. I’m looking at my data and with my current settings I’m around 1.4ish with a maybe a little more. So half track or before is where I’m aiming but with the -96 ramp since it’s a little less aggressive and can play a little more with the other settings. If things are really popping and infeel confident I’ll make one change on the radio to -95 and see if it sticks vs a dual rate shift. I seem to be ok at 100 dual rate or epa with the r1 tune I have.
Thanks for the great video.
Always
Can anyone explain to me. Is there a difference between a m12 and m12s?
Thank you
Thanks for sharing
great video! can i ask what settings do you change in r mode just on for D/R and speed? thanks
I change a lot. Check out my go straighter video for the steering changes and then my reaction tire video for speed details
Hey Bro what remote do you like best for np 7pxr or sanwa m17?
gotta say m17. the futaba felt better in my hand but the m17 ability to change things is unmatched no matter what anyone says. honestly the steering changes have helped me the most. the throttle and rmode is just necasary
Awesome video
Thanks Tim!
I've been watching Mark's post on this and your's Chad. Have you done anything differently with your settings on this now your R1? You should do a update post on this. I think im going to finally pull the trigger on the M17.
Some is different. It is going to be my next video. Hopefully in a day or two. Full tuning video with m17 r1 and castle.
@@Dorkyand40 awesome Chad I can't wait.
Wish you come out with a video for Futaba xp10
yeah no more drag racing here so not going to happen
Can you tell me what's the difference between the Gold and Red edition of the m17 radio
never knew there was different ones?? ill need to take a look
can I use all these tips for my 1/7th scale drag limitless?
Sure can. For drag. Think for speed runs they like to tune more in the esc
@@Dorkyand40 ok. im stuck between the 7pxr and the m17 for my limitless drag car. im leaning more towards the m17 plus it a little cheaper..
@@mally_mal820 it’s a tough call. I liked the feel of the futaba slightly better but the m17 is just so easy and versatile and now everyone is using them for drag so it’s going to be even easier to use and the big hitters are working with sanwa for some custom firmware.
@@Dorkyand40 nice. I think im gonna pull the trigger on the m17. thanks!💪💯
hey, can you do a trans brake switch for m17?
Sure. You can program a switch to cut throttle to zero pwm value easily.
@@Dorkyand40 I've done so, but if you sit and hold the throttle for too long, it will mess with your initial hit. can you make a video show how you do it.. say you have your button held and holding full throttle, if you hold it like that for, say 10sec, does affect your throttle hit?
I’d need to take a look at it. I’ve never seen a need for a trans brake because I want the car to launch slightly hard and smooth so the ramp and point settings is all I have felt the need to adjust. But yes the mixer in the m17 is powerful so it could be done
What does the sub-t on base menu for throttle do?
Just like sub trim for steering. If you’re not centered or bottom correctly then you can use trim vs calibrate
Hello sir I am interested in getting involved with No prep Racing and I would like to know where you are located at I see in your one video you were wearing a Cubs hat just wondering where most of your races are held thank you
I’m in Ohio. My entire 2 year journey is all here On the channel. Let me know if you need anything
If this controller is Allowed in for no prep racing then gyro's should to it's All tech!
I use my R-mode but that 2nd gear is my "oh shit" button 😆
That’s one way to do it :)
Only have to watch this 5 or 6 times
It’s a lot for sure :) but it’s all in one spot. Every video I’ve ever sought out snd all my testing for my 2s car
Hey Bro I'd like to pm you I got questions
