There is a Native American village site along the Missouri River (a state park) where the debitage is several feet deep. If there is water and place to shelter the debitage pops up everywhere. Thanks for the video. God bless.
I don't know if you remember me. I finally started finding arrowheads or spearheads. Found 2 in 1 week last week. Found a half of one this spring also. I'm getting better 🤗. Pretty good for looking in southern Minnesota
If I don't see debitage, I won't waste too much time. When searching a new site, debitage is the first clue. Once I see that, I slow down and really start to look. You're absolutely correct, my friend.
Great motivational info for us newbies D.W. !!! Hey I've been having a lot of fun doing my research on the native Americans here in Virginia and it's going to help me on my field searches this fall !!! I found this one piece right smack in the middle of a river and it appears to be a small handheld nut tool or smasher if you will for I don't know what to call it but it just fits perfectly in my hand for cracking nuts and perhaps it was used for that purpose for the native Americans and I wonder if I found that piece that surely perhaps with more in depth field work I could stumble across a permanent camp of sorts and if so I should be able to find a lot more good stuff for example more native tools or arrowheads on ground digs as well as the open river shallows is my hope but a lot of hard work ahead me but as long as I'm healthy and can get out and go I'll do so and the good news I'm going to get me that new canoe so I want have to do all that walking to my happy hunting grounds for these ancient tools of the trade !!! This endeavor is going to be a lot of fun as long as I do so with safe minded intentions and taking my time !!!
