- 'Like teenagers': Shock Prince Harry and Meghan Markle revelations in Valentine Low's Courtiers book. One of the Queen’s favourite aides told colleagues compared working with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to working with teenagers, according to Valentine Low, the author of 'Courtiers', a bombshell new royal book. Valentine Low, the author of Courtiers, has told a special episode of Palace Confidential about the ‘harsh’ treatment that Samantha Cohen received while working for the pair before they left the Royal Family. ‘When she started, Harry knew her well, and liked her and she liked Harry. Sam is an incredible problem solver, she’s a can-do personality and she just found it really difficult,’ he says. ‘She was asked to do things that a private secretary wouldn’t normally be asked to do and I think she was treated harshly. She was shouted at by Meghan… she was said to have said that dealing with them was like dealing with a couple of teenagers.’ Low also describes the ‘crushing’ phrase that Meghan Markle used to one of her team and he goes into detail into what he believes really happened during Meghan Markle Tiaragate saga during the Royal wedding.

Although I was disappointed when Harry and Meghan decided to leave the Royal Family, I could understand their wanting to go in another direction. Where they totally lost me is when they began to trash the Royal Family, her family, showed that they are hypocrites, etc. The more I learn about her and about Harry, the more I realize what a great job the Royal Family did hiding their terrible personalities. I realize there are days when the Royals would probably like to just stay home, but for an extrovert who loves meeting people, I think they have the best job in the world and the financial security most people can only dream about.
Hated it. Charles is a cheating scumbag and yall are acting like he is the best man on earth or something, and acting like harry and meghan are scumbags while they really are not!
The Invictus Games weren't Harry's idea. He was invited to participate with a group of people forming games for disabled vets based on America's Wounded Warrior Games. Harry did NOT think up the Invictus Games on any level.
He did help create the invictus game. The RF wanted and tried to take it away when he left and give it to William and he refused to give it up. Harry used his personal money to help with the games. How does he this author know what Harry thought. He does not talk to reporters. They should stop lying.

That many staff members would not quit if not mistreated
One question we're advised to ask in job interviews is what the turnover rate is. For exactly this reason.
I know a few of the staff at the palace and one of them I know joined the staff at age 17, working day and night when required, he eventually retired at age 66.
He didn't want to retire but was advised to by the Queen as his health was deteriorating.
He reluctantly retired and stayed on, paying rent at his flat within the staff quarters and stayed on standby for another 5 years.
So if one person can give their whole life to work with the royals, it begs the question of what on earth is going on with the harkles and their turnover of staff.
They, the servants, were also harassed by the media. Why does nobody reveal that? Maybe that’s why they quit?
There a couple of points where I disagree with Mr. Low though I will be buying his book.
1. That MEgain did him (Harry) the greatest kindness... - Uh no, she stalked him, learned more about his weaknesses, fed his paranoia and ego, and made him a worse person than he already was by betraying the family like Judas and telling lies for 30 pieces of silver. If he became a better person, that would be a kindness...
2. King Charles and Prince William hiring a female or minority Private Secretary.... Please stop this affirmative action nonsense! Personally I like to be hired and promoted because I was best qualified, most trustworthy, and best fit for the job and not because I was the token woman or minority. I'd be insulted if I was hired on the basis of my gender or my skin color.
It is not the point to hire someone because they are female or non white although less qualified but to hire among the most qualified or same qualified people not always the white male. That is where the problem usually lies.

The point of the comments about who was hired is that all of those hired for those jobs were white and male which means that part of the job was being white ad male. Which argues against being the best qualified for the job.

If either PH or MM had two neurons firing in their heads they would have looked deeply and discussed what joining the BRF was going to entail and what the expectations would be for MM. They did not do that. PH probably sugarcoated his explanation of what life would be like just to keep MM. MM probably thought she would bend the BRF to her will. Both completely delusional. If they actually did a deep dive into their situation before they got engaged, they probably would not have done it. MM, of course, lied her way into the BRF about what she intended to do. The rest is history.

It’s too bad that somebody didn’t point out to Harry, the examples of his aunt the Princess Royal, who is the hardest working royal among all the family, and yet she’s not in line to the throne. Or Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex, he and his wife Sophie have both worked very hard and they’re not in line to the throne. And Prince Philip, he was never in line to the throne, and yet look how relevant and active his life was while supporting his wife the Queen. Either Harry ignored these examples, or nobody pointed them out, and he was too shallow to think about all this and realize he could’ve had a big impact in his life even if he was further down the line of succession.

Meghan always made me think she might be one of those women who would always be age 15. I feel validated! Seriously, I really wish M had never shown up. She in NO WAY represents the majority of American women. To me she's an embarrassment. But most importantly, we send sincere condolences for the loss of the wonderful woman who was your Queen Elizabeth. She was a Great Lady

The interview was very informative. I'm enjoying the book. Likening the Harkles to teenagers is disingenuous. They are unbalanced people. They lie, they scheme, they plot and they act like they have done nothing wrong to anyone! A person who pushes out a dozen puff pieces a day about herself is unbalanced. I agree they are unbalanced but to many much of their behavior seems adolescent, so I have sometimes used the term “behaving like teenagers” for some of what they do - excessive handholding while making official visits, demanding things from the family, expecting the RF to bend to what she wants rather than negotiating or understanding why things are done a certain way. She had the option not to join the family, but chose to and then acts like a child because their whole world didn’t shift to what she wanted.

If Harry was indeed so worried about his relevance, does that mean he is just much of a narcissist as his wife? Also, Meghan should not expect special treatment, she is marrying into that family, meaning it's permanent (unless they divorce), she is not a visitor that would only stay for a while, therefore, needs extra special treatment, she was suppose to adapt to that family's traditions and ways, she wanted to be part of it, she needs to play her part.

Go back and watch the engagement interview where Harry talks about working together with the RF as a married couple....observe MEagain's reaction. Imo, she NEVER planned to join the RF as a working cog of the whole. She lies as easily as she breathes; nothing she says can be taken at face value. Our issue as Americans is seeing how vile Harry treated his family, especially his aging grandparents while they were literally on their deathbeds, and his never taking a public stance against MEagain as she did the same to them.
I cringe at that interview moment. She says ... “and I’ll be doing it ..... with, uhhhhh .... you.” And she throws her hand in the air. Bizarre.

Should the Palace bend backwards because a D class actress wasn't happy with what she got, or should she conform and adapt to the institution she was very lucky to subscribe to by marrying Harry? It seems that she was so eager to get the ring on her finger that she forgot to ask what her job was about. Thank goodness they are in the US, they would be more trouble here.
They live near Hollywood, surrounded by famous, wealthy celebrities and entertainers. And that's a totally different world than the rest of America, where real, honest, hard-working, common folks live, who are teachers, plumbers, paramedics, social workers, nurses, etc. and who quietly volunteer in their local communities. But we all know, celebrities come and celebrities go. . . How long Harry and Meghan will last as celebrities? And especially as a celebrity couple. It's anyone's guess. But many celebrities do have shelf life.

In that Netflix reality show they put on, there's a clip I saw that has Harry at a window talking about helicopters overhead and trying to say that it's all about him and his wife. They live in a neighborhood where most are richer and more famous than them. Also, papparazzi would use drones if they were interested.
The only time that helicopters would be allowed to fly over residential areas is if there's an emergency of some sort.
Charles and William don't have a female private secretary for obvious reasons. They work VERY closely with this person . . . that can cause problems in a marriage.

I get very nervous when I here some idiot talk about getting more diversity in some area. It usually means that we do not care about excellence or who will do the best job.

Well, the household for RF had for some time banned ethnic minorities from employment as anything other than domestic positions (no clerical). Guess no one noticed? Anyway, Elizabeth II had been exempt from employment discrimination law based on gender or race since the 1970s.
If they had mostly female staff they’d have endless accusations of wrong behavior. Married men having male staff seems a bit like self preservation in my opinion. Especially in 2022 where one is guilty before even being charged with a crime let alone being proven guilty

Well-done interview with the very articulate Mr. Low. I take exception to two points, however. First, Harry did not invent the Invictus Games. They are a copy of the U.S. Warrior Games. Michelle Obama and Jill Biden took him to the WGs, and then I think the palace staff did all the real work to create Invictus. Now Harry is attempting to use Invictus to make money for himself, which is reprehensible. Second, I don't think Meghan ever intended to be a working royal. In my opinion, it was always her goal to return to Hollywood, where she imagined she would be an in-demand star who could kick dirt in the faces of everyone who failed to cast her over the previous 20 years.
George V, George VI, and Prince Philip all had flashes of temper. Who wants ink pouring out on them? The Prince's Trust, the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme, these programs have helped so many. So valuable the Duke of Sussex was well on his way to similar program with Invictus and Sennable, he's sort of thrown it all way.
It bothers me the Royal Family was protecting Meghan & Harry and allowed those working for them to suffer. I’m disappointed. I hope some apologies & restitution were made to those harmed. Cruelty should never be ignored.

I thought "psychopathic narcissist" was an apt description. They both blew it. Their marriage was a wonderful, rare opportunity for a mixed race family at the centre of the Royal Family with Prince and Princess children as close first cousins to the 2nd heir joining together the multi-racial wider Commonwealth and UK family. I had such high hopes for them, was such a secret supporter who ultimately became disillusioned by their combined narcissistic manic desire to be at the centre of attention.
Mr. Valentine Low just put into words the summation of Megone's true character.... Using Uvalde tragedy, the Day of Remembrance, Nelson Mandela's name, endless lies and trashing the RF and her family are the peak of megone's callousness. It's just saddening Harry became just a "yes dear" houseband while megone made him her hand holder and her accessory... such a waste of taxpayers' money raising a nuisance such as harry markle....

I think it's smart for these men to not have women private secretaries. Like it or not, perception matters and it would take very little for rumors to get started about a royal male that spent a lot of time, and traveled with, a close female employee.

It seems that Harry and Meghan quite readily conflate 'The Institution' with 'The Family'. A smart move for this couple would have been to 'query' the institution but remain unwaveringly loyal to the family. Meghan's greed was too hasty. Had she the foresight for The Long Game, she might have played her hand differently. Her desperate, galloping approach would have repulsed even the most ardent supporter (as it has done). She's revealed quite clearly that she's not the constitution for royalty, but rather for celebrity; a state for which Harry has no birthright (which ultimately makes him of no value to her).
I don’t think Meghan had the patience for the Long Game. She saw or thought she saw, a quick intro into a world of wealth, privilege and adulation just by putting a ring on her finger. She wanted celebrity status and confused it thinking that was Royalty. I don’t think it entered her head that she would be starting at the bottom and have to work to earn her stripes. Harry sounds like he had been sheltered and not have to think of how his life ran smoothly with a plethora of staff to see to it. Neither two were grounded so a recipe for disaster.

I guess the book’s main focus wasn’t H&M but was about helping people understand The Firm….
