Do not sell yourself short! First off, you have soooo much good stuff. Lol. I know that took a lot of hard work to get there! Just be proud of where you came from!
Secondly, my HOA wouldn’t let me do something like you have. I do have a garage, but it holds my trash, a freezer and 2 shelving units for personal stuff.
Also my HOA would probably frown on me opening my garage door to work. (I don’t plan on using many chemicals just for this reason.) The HOA agreement has a whole section about not leaving your garage open.
I’m actually proud of how far I’ve come with buying my stuff over 3.5 years. But I still don’t have much. That’s okay.
I just wanted to drop you this comment because you have a great organized workshop! I love your organization. What a great idea to make an entire wall for peg board!
I’m so glad that you accepted this challenge. Thanks for sharing.

You have so many awesome things in your little shop. I know that space is wonderful for refinishing but I am envious of all the things. I really like that kobalt shelf for your drills. I may need to get or build something like that. Thank you for sharing the community workshop! Very cool!

I ❤️ your workshop so much! It's so well organized with so many tools! I love that you love vintage tools. I don't have nearly what you have but I treasure my dad's tools. I've lost a push drill of his and I'll find it someday! Thanks so much for participating, I'm so so glad you did! Also loved the community workshop! 😘

How wonderful! Thank you so much for sharing. I don’t have a workspace yet. I have a shed that will be built this spring. I thought I’d still have to work out on the apron of the garage.. you have given me so many good ideas. I don’t have all the tools yet, but I do have many of them. I do buy older tools at garage sales, and estate sales. The prices are so much better. And I kind of like the way the old tools look. I also have lots of paint. I haven’t even tried to layout workspace, because I thought it would all just be storage. Thank you again.

I Loved your workshop-so organized!!! I like that is the new She Shed!!!!!🌹🌸🌹 also loved the dewalt fold up tools you had!!! Out of 4 kids-3 girls & my brother-my mom gifted me my Grandpas old tools and large tool box!!! Now don’t get me wrong, I do like plants, comfy couch, and a book for a She Shed-my “formal” dining room is mine!!! We all eat in the kitchen anyways!!! I Love that you have a community wood shop that teaches. We have a tech school and I’ll have to look into that. I’m beginning, had my own tools to begin with but slowly getting stuff I need for pieces doing for my own home. My work space is a 6’ by 25’ covered breezeway in backyard, but have concrete area-prob 15’x15’ and a one step raised deck all off the breezeway. It’s working right now- got 3 large pieces working on at same time for repairs, sanding, and priming when Not raining!!!! Oh and cleaning hardware!!! I’m a RN for 35 total but 33 years on a surgical floor. Was recently out of work for neck and arm pain then had surgery. Anyways, 6 months of not doing and my type of work, got my wheels turning!!! So here I am as a beginner!!! Back then for me doing home projects-plumbing, electricity, laminate flooring & vinyl, painting walls-it was HGTV & a book from Lowes!!!! UA-cam rocks!!! Thank you for being inspiring to us newbies!!!!!❤️🌹❤️

I just subbed after two videos. I see potential in your camera! So far you are doing great. Stick to it. You will find things get easier. I like your aesthetic and I can tell you are very much in touch with your creativity. I was a kid who made things to sell. Once, I sold hand-crocheted "slave sandals" and sold out because I did the work and selling on a beach. I was 8 years old and ready to take on the world. My mother was a widow and it was the 60 so mom was either too busy or too trusting to know where I was at all times, unlike life today. This meant that I could trash pick or ask people for stuff from their yards which were stacked behind garages and sheds. I seldom got a 'no' and often made people glad to be rid of it. Between my love of animals, reusing, refusing, repurposing, and leaving the recycling to them, I always upsold my upgraded stuff. Today, I am an old lady who spent my whole life struggling because of my health but I managed to raise my daughter pretty much on my own. We were poor, I was happy and my daughter had to find out that happiness wasn't bought with money but with time and love. She is the gift of my life and her three kids are always at the forefront of my thoughts. I still make things but healthwise I have reduced my creativity and shop size down to a part of the living room where I can paint deserts and mesas on feathers or weave dream catchers that represent what a person dreams for and not just a knock-off from a truck stop store. I also taught myself how to use polymer clay, a talent I never thought I had until five years ago when scrolling UA-cam. I found Nerdy Crafter and got hooked on the second day of binging. It was a struggle at first but now I make miniatures for upscale dollhouses, my own characters from barnyard animals, an ongoing project of a two-foot-tall dragon, and a ton of jewelry. I don't sell anymore, I just give stuff away. Remember, the little artists have small pockets so donating your unused or ignored items in the shop can be gifted to a school or senior citizens' home and the Boys and Girls club. I even gave away a pile of Cub Scouts stuff that I had bought at one of the hundreds of auctions I attended for years and years. Anyway, I want you to see yourself in two years, five years, ten years, and so on because plans change but your drive doesn't have to. If you hold onto what you want from life but allow for the only constant in life, change, you will grow old happy.

First video I watched. She'd is awesome. We also got a 10 x12 tuff she'd because for our county its the largest not needing a permit. Is mostly to store yard tools and larger tools like miter saw to not take as much room in garage. I wanted one shelf at one end to have a plant repotting center and store pots dirt etc under. I've now split that to do some small scale crafting painting. We do a lot of projects outside and some in garage. My main hobby is sewing and this house we bought in retirement came with a separate artist built workshop. I did small projects in there but as my crafting and flipping was growing too nervous painting etc near my fabric and machines etc. I love how you utilized the upward spaces.

Have been to an auction for items? The box lots often have tons of old repair supplies and they are great for getting those expensive but needed tools for a great price. I went to auctioneer school, the top female in the class! I then found out I get stage fright and ended up selling a ton of antiques just to change my life. Now I have another house full of antiques so I guess I didn't change much. LOL.. anyway, if you do some research, find an auctioneer that has the most auctions in your area and the one that has the least. Go to both sales and get a feel for the fast pace and the slow pace. Arrive early and know what your budget is beforehand because you will have to pay at the end of the sale. You also want to be certain to sit and watch the buyers. See who is acting cagey. Watch the items you want and see how others see them. If you want the box lots, sit where you can see them because people switch things around in them. When it comes time to bid on them, go and look again. If you don't see the item(s) expected, search the other boxes. People will snap up the box lots and the success of finding a gem is few but you never know. I once bought a box for five bucks and sold two items in it for nearly $700. Another time I bought three boxes of books for 2 bucks and sold half of them to a guy in texas who was doing a family tree gig. He bought the books because they were early 1900's yearbooks and his family was in them. I turned $2 into $325.
    Good luck!

I love your tiny shop! It’s about the same size as mine. We live in an old farmhouse that’s been built onto over the years, and there’s this really long room that we originally planned to open up and use to expand our living room. When I got into redoing furniture and doing some woodworking though, I needed a place to work, so I claimed it. I basically split the room in half and made one end my shop and the other my studio space. That way, I can contain saw/sanding dust in one part, and be able to paint and finish in the other. I only have a shop vac for dust collection right now, so I’ve had to get creative at times, but it’s better than nothing. I love that your space is real and your tools don’t all match and look like you just took them out of the boxes. I stick with one brand for battery stuff, but a lot of my tools are from pawn shops or thrift stores. I have an awesome husband that buys me tools for gifts too - he got me an awesome new miter saw for Christmas!
Thank you for sharing this, and for the tour of the cool community center wood shop. That’s wonderful to have hands on teaching. I’ve learned mostly from UA-cam, but I have a couple of guys at our church who have given me some great tips too - and a next door neighbor with a huge shop if I have something I can’t fit in my space. Your message at the end was also very much needed right now. 😊
