- The 2011, the first season of the new points system, saw newer drivers continue their rise. Timothy Peters and Johnny Sauter continued tow in, and James Buescher showed improved performance with Turner Motorsports. Cup drivers Denny Hamlin, Clint Bowyer, and Kevin Harvick won races, with Kyle Busch winning even more. However, the star of the show was the first hope for NASCAR's next generation, as Richard Childress's grandson Austin Dillon would become the 2011 champion piloting the #3. a small error in the video - Harvick's win at Texas was win #13, not #12.
Edit: The race that Hornaday got win #51 was the Smith's 350 at Las Vegas
