    Founded in 1125 by Countess Teresa de Leão, mother of the first king of Portugal, Ponte de Lima is one of the oldest and most picturesque villages in the country. Its medieval architecture and surrounding area, bathed by the river Lima, give this village a unique beauty.
    Located in the center of Alto Minho, part of the District of Viana do Castelo and crossed by two highways, A3 and A28, Ponte de Lima is close to the main urban centers in the North of the country and the border with Spain. Porto is a 45-minute drive away and, nearby, has two airports: Sá Carneiro and Vigo Airports.
    How to get to Ponte de Lima
    By car the distance from Viana do Castelo is 28 min (26.6 km) on the A27, from Braga it is 34 min (43.7 km) on the A3.
    To Porto by car the time is 55 min (83.8 km) by A3.
    By bus it takes 1 hour and 35 minutes with an average cost of €8.
    Population
    It has 41,204 inhabitants, but the population is reducing, in 2011 there were 43,498 inhabitants, 5.30% more than today.

    It is a small and quiet town, considered one of the safest, good for raising children and enjoying life calmly and peacefully.
