One of my favorite episodes. Loved Susie, still listen to Marty's Hit me Baby One More Time, even today in the car, and Pretty Vegas is a good song. We all know what happened. Now, in 2019, Live Baby Live is in theaters and TV all over the globe, INXS is getting ready to tour with multiple singers including JD. And, the Richard Lowenstein smash documentary, Mystify about Michael Hutchence is breaking records in it's category and breaking hearts with this touching story. The music must live on.
@@pauljosse Yeah, I always wondered why Marty and Jordis received credit on the "Pretty Vegas" song when they contributed nothing worthwhile. That sounds like sour grapes to me.
My favorite performance of this episode was done by MiG Ayesa singing Baby I Love Your Way, it was absolutely amazing and he definitely made my favorite version of this song!
This episode had some of their best covers. Marty jordis mig and jd did great. Even jessica did great. I think we are all a sucker for pop ballads, even though we love rock.
Seeing comments that INXS failed becaise of JD is BS. JD won the moment he wrote pretty vegas honestly and did his own rendition of songs like california dreaming INXS chose to part ways.
I always thought they would have had more success with Marty as a front man. i know JD was a huge INXS fan but that doesn’t always make a good front man. i think Marty would have brought them to new levels.
@@audreyaitken1037 -yeah well, you can say the same for any number of front men in music history from Marvin Gaye to Michael Hutchence himself, therefore, making your point moot...😶
JD did INXS karaoke the best so they could play all their greatest hits, he tried to sound and act like Michael the most, Pretty Vegas was pretty good too
I never understood Marty's appeal. Maybe his type of music style isn't for me. I always fast forward after he sings a few lines. JD had the "it" quality. I still luv him. Too bad he got hooked on drugs.
yeah, Marty went with the stick thick with your buddies ideal, this lackluster song that Jordis and Marty wrote and sang to INXS was not only a disaster of a song, the melody went all over the place and there was no up tempo in the lyrics that had that catchy element needed for people to remember and get a musical bounce from. Marty had the reigns in his hands being the captain of his team to steer his songwriting team in the better direction: Jd's song. Instead, as all 'thick as thieves" packs do they forged their dumb song thinking they gained power in their unit; instead of creating, opening heaven's door to the art of great songwriting that JD was heading towards. It is so damn illustrative of the pack mentality that doesn't see the forest through even Marty's trees.
Jesus Murphy.. I just realized why my brain has thought "Dave Navarro" any time I think of INXS.. genuinely thought he was in the band for the last (almost) 20 years! 🤣
Marty is the Emo King we all swooned over in the mid 2000s. There's part of me that will always be glad they didn't choose him because he needed to be a star without INXS.
He could do INXS karaoke well enough to tour with their back catalog, he tried to act and sound like Michael, plus he did a pretty good job writing lyrics to Pretty Vegas
@@highonimmi He didn't write any of Afterglow. It was written by Andrew and Desmond Child. He only wrote the lyrics to Pretty Vegas which was pretty good. I'll give him that. However, JD was really nothing without the genius of Andrew Farriss/INXS. That is why he is obsolete now. Also JD's cockiness was his biggest downfall imo. The guy was cocky as hell and a little sh*t on this show. He also was a total wannabe rockstar. He was desperate for success. Michael was born to be a rockstar. If we learned anything from INXS, it's that all the members of INXS were the reason for it's massive global success, not just because of Michael, who was always the focus. Each member is amazing at playing their instruments and contributing immensely to every song. Michael tried going solo with MaxQ, which was good, but didn't net the same success. JD's solo album was very average. Andrew Farriss is a seriously underrated composer. The brains behind the success. He knew how to compose hit songs/melodies which inspired Michael's incredible singing and lyrics.
You know I was upset that mig didn't win I loved him and thought he was awesome I also realky liked jordis and marty. I absolutely hate jd I thought he was a complete douche the whole competition. I understand it was a competition but that doesnt mean he had to be the ass he was. Im still not happy he won I think inxs made a major mistake when they chose him but the dismal album sales speak for jds star quality.
@@brittnihayden4515 Number one hit where? On Itunes? I don't recall it being on the radio. And INXS's album was probably number one for nostalgia, just like other albums from long time artists go to number 1. Like Celine's recent album.
marty has talent but SUCKS singing INXS songs. JD won for 2 reasons. 1. Pretty Vegas. They knew it was a hit immediately. 2. He sounds like michael at will. Very important to older fans whether they admit it or not. I dont want to hear new sensation being sung by a woman in inxs no matter how good she is. I want a dude up there channeling michael. JD did that.
I was rooting for Marty but I knew they saw a lot of similarities in JD that Michael had . And when I saw Tim rocking to pretty Vegas I knew that was the ace in the hole.

He was one of the co-hosts with Brooke Burke, he isn’t part of INXS. Fast forward to present, he is not a tattoo artist either (a major canvas though! Lol!) but he hosts Ink Masters.......
Now, this episode made me finally understand what was wrong with season 1 of Rockstar. None of the contestants has that superstar quality that people like Dilana, Toby, Lukas, Storm, Magni and Brian had in season 2. And by watching this episode alone, I would think I'm in a bad version of the X Factor as opposed to a rock reality show. The singers here bore me and they are predictable as hell, sorry. I couldn't take my eyes off the contestants of season 2 and they would always surprise me. They had 100 times more energy and charisma, and any of them would put up a 10 times better show than any of the performances by contestants in season 1. This weird dynamic -sing something different to what you are used to- was a great idea for a Mansion episode, not a performance episode. It was really boring for me.

I guess JD will make some temporary money.
Yeah this has some great renditions. I loved jordis, mig, marty n JD specifically in this episode
16yrs later and Im still in love with Marty Casey. Such an amazing captivating performer. I was always in awe of him. He and Mig were my favorites.
Say what you want about JD. At the end of the day he stood up for what he believed in and it paid off. That is why he won!
If the fans weren't in love with Mig before this song. They were afterwards!
When the smoke cleared that fact is JD fortune wrote a song by himself that ended up being a huge hit! Period. it aint prettyyyyyyy after the show
Then marty and jordis sued him claiming they Co write it
