  • How do you drain water from the engine and the radiator while the whole thing looks so complicated?
    Step 1: Remove Underside cover
Step 2: Get needle nose or normal pliers.
Step 3: Leave your ego and tough guy attitude elsewhere and go nice and easy.
Step 4: Turn the drain plug slightly counterclockwise with the plier and keep turning and pulling using your hands and the nose of the needle nose in any grove in the plug. You will have the the water start to drain in an orderly fashion.
Step 5: Open the filler bottle cap so it drains faster and turn on your engine because its an electric water pump. When you see low coolant message in the screen turn off your car.
Step 6: Close the drain plug to the same position you found it when your removed the cover.
Step 7: Add Audi coolant and 2&1/4 bottles of distilled water till the water reaches max mark. keep Engine running till you keep filling up the distilled water or their will be air. You must ensure there have been no leaks below from the drain plug. Keep observing again and again. Hope you didnt pull any of those hoses or you are screwed!
Step 8: Stay awesome and wave your middle finger to the dealership. Cover yes of course you must put that back on you whiny brat.

This only drains around 30% of the coolant.. There is still coolant in the heater matrix and engine block anyone wanting to do this know this will only drain around 2-4 ltrs the a4 can hold 10-12 ltrs

@@eliasmuraski1719 From what i can see online and others, i suggest it will need vacuum draining / filling. Most garages will have this equipment.

This is why I bought my Audi. Not having to worry about pulling hose.

Actually i have done that too and its easy peezy….there is a metal pin on them all just pull it up and pull it out…perhaps you do not want to touch your car but in emergencies this will save your life.

      Lol, I was making a joke "hose/hos".
Not to take away from the video though.
I wanted to know where the drain plug/screw was before I worked on the wife's A5 tomorrow - she accidentally put screenwash in there. 😬
But yeah, I do most stuff myself, just never had to do this before.
      Thanks again!

Agree, the coolant attracts dogs and cats and they will get poisoned, the stuff also will be in the ground for a while will make its way into water system. Man this is bad… never do that. Go to dealer if you din’t have bucket or tray to collect poison, dealers are qualified to manage those chemicals😳

Should the expansion tank have a hole next to the cover?

    • @Takeitlightly6

It is what it is man....you drain coolant from the drain valve and open the expansion tank cover so water drains faster.

Is there a coolant bleed procedure that you can run in A4 3.2L 2008 to get any air out of the system after you fill it with fresh coolant?

    • @Takeitlightly6
      @Takeitlightly6  Рік тому

I explained everything in the description to keep engine running with the overflow tank cap removed till some of the air escapes. You can see it puke out some air with those bubble leaving from the opening. In b8 tank there is also an opening in the expansion tank itself which bleeds air out...there is. Smartly places hole in there. The cap also routinely removes the air. Everything else is sealed tight so no way you remove air without it exploding on your face...unless ofcourse an audi tech can pitch in here.

@@Takeitlightly6 Thanks. Reason why I ask is in my 335i I can run a coolant bleed procedure which activates the electric water pump and circulates the coolant and air pockets out part of the process. Wasn't sure if my Audi had the same.

People pulling hoses are used to servicing p.o.s. BMW that did not engineer a coolant drain into the system and force mechanics to disconnect hoses. P.O.S. Design.

Jay Mackk keep the engine running with water in the bottle filled up. Air will automatically escape in a few minutes and you will see water level drop. Check water level again next day and add necessary. To be frank you need 1 and a half bottles of original audi coolant for it to remain in the system and not to evaporate the water away. Rest is distilled.
