Wow what a perfect example of learned helplessness in that poor horse. It is horrific how people can treat their animals. Thankyou Eponatv for your videos to let everyone know what is really happening.
The reason I left my college's equestrian program was because of this and a few other videos. They made my entire class go to our class room to watch videos like this, and others, including one where a horse was left with it's head tied back in a round pen,the end result was the horse being put down. They DEFENDED the trainers throughout the videos and explained what they saw. I took a moment and looked based on the training I had received there at what they were talking about. Yes, I can see the imperfections and the things these people where trying to "fix" but the problem was with the humans not the horses. It was then that I realized how conditioned these people were to this kind off training and I realized.. they just didn't see it any more. To them, this is what was done, this is what produced winnners. I realized on that day that I was not fit for that program and that I would much rather spend my time spreading understanding to people that there is a better way of doing things. Sorry for the little rant, it just upsets me so much to know how many people simply accept this as the way to do things as if nothing is wrong with it.
Now, as he is Bundestrainer, he can pass on the Rollkur-riding to the next generation!
See, the sad thing is.. I don't think people that train and ride like this even understand what they are doing wrong. They don't stop to reason the pain that this is inflicting on the horse.
When the horse is in this posture, it is very beneficial. With a round back, tight abs, hind end beneath them, and light on the forehand, the horse is able to perform all the tasks with ease. Its when they don't carry themselves like this when you start to see problems. A hollowed back is both bad for the hind joints, the neck, and the spine.
Apparently it belongs to ride against the wall for training at the stops. Otherwise, a broken horse.
Und keiner sagt mal was !
@jenny50ify Over-bending inflicts acute pain, chronic pain and nerve pain (neuralgia). Its victims exhibit fear and mental stress. In addition, by locking-up the neck, a horse is partially asphyxiated, unable to see properly and unbalanced. In the long-term, the practice probably causes permanent structural damage to many parts of the body, including the trachea, lungs and spine. Without question, it injures the bars of the mouth, teeth and skull.
I really don´t understand why people always dislike videos like this. I mean, yes they show cruel things but the people that are filming try to fight these methods by showing the world in their videos. If more people would klick the like button the video would have the chance to be more popular, so the message this vid wants to show could get to more people. btw i hate that this sport is developing in such a bad way. Not only reining but also dressage and showjumping...
This damn hyperfleion issue has now permeated so much of equestrian sport I wonder if it willever go away. Hasn't the FEI had regulations on the books for years addressing this issue, stating that the poll was to be. The highest part of the horses neck
The FEI is on the horns of a dilemma. Over 50 years horse abuse has been admitted and rewarded with high scores. To stay credible they estimate horse abuse as -cases of minor violations or contraventions committed unintentionally- and without significant sanctions for the rider. -Verbal warnings- are all that officials feel it necessary to issue against riders. But who cares...? as long as the fan community of the top riders is enthusiastic.
I dont think people press dislike, because they dislike the video being posting here on youtube. I think they press dislike because what is on the video is so ugly, that they press dislike, to show they are against animals being treated this way :)
Why wont anybody tell riders who ride like this thats its wrong and its hurts the horse, they probably know already, but if people told them i think they would think over it a second time. I have myself told people who ride violence, that its not ok. Im not a pro rider or anything, but i acutally have eyes and can see when a horse feel bad.
Pferd bleibt Pferd
@MagnoliaDreaming Did your see your fellow native buddy (Assumeing your american) Tom McCutcheon and Craig Schmersal, doing the exacte same thing? Oh and fencning the horse? Yeah, psssh it's the europeans who got it all wrong, when we got idols like that that, to teach us...
Poor horse :( how much they have to suffer because of humans cruelty. Sad to see "horsemanship" like this. These competitions are sick. Very unnatural movements for the horse in western riding, I don´t understand why it is called "horse friendly" or "natural". Same problem with all racing (jumping, dressage etc.).
@jenny50ify Every showrider comes in, asks what he wants, gets what he wants, rewards with loose rein; the point is how to do it, and this particular rider does it in very cruel way! If you have a different opinion, light me up with detailed expert knowledge. See my point of view below.
Hi Ronja. We have lots of videos from dressage warm ups. And jumping too. You are right - this happens in every discipline. And all the top riders at this particular event were riding this way. You will also see the stewards calmly watching and not doing anything, so it is clear that this was accepted riding at this major FEI event.
@MagnoliaDreaming Yes I've seen her and I like her.. But actually she can't do much for you here :) See I don't care if a man from China won the World Final, if he deserved it and treated his horse with respect and kindness.. We need to speak up, when we see things like that, American, Danish, Finnish, German, doesn't matter.. And not make it about which nation is riding better ;) Well my opinion anyway.. And sometimes easier said then done :)
Just terrible. That poor horse. He is so terrified of lifting his head even an inch. I just don't see the point in yanking so hard on the poor horse's mouth with a curb like that. The only purpose can be to cause immense pain and fear. It doesn't even look like the ring steward is even watching the riders in the warm-up. I hope the FEI wakes up and starts penalizing riders who are so cruel and abusive in the warm-up. They should not be allowed to compete.
and that second spin and roll back was perfect. answer me this, how are you supposed to train a horse to that HIGH level without any pressure? This horse is clearly well trained, it knows its job and doesn't fight the bit once. He is a fair rider. Rewards when the horse responds correctly, and is firm when necessary.
holy shit i don't see what everyone is barking about. That horse has one of the nicest spins i have seen in a while. He is simply training. In the beginning he is getting the horse light on the forehand. He rewards the horse fully when it does it right. and then look at the payoff in that beautiful spin.
Nobody is perfect. But as soon as horse abuse is rewarded with high scores and money, it's time to scream out in public your disapproval. Maybe you preserve another horse to be tormented by an ignorant imitator.
I suppose you are a western rider and you learned from a succesful showrider You should know that showriding and true western horsemanship are two different things. Show riders prefer peanut roller executing spastic contortions, because ignorant judges and spectators want to see that True horsemen prefer a calm and natural dynamic movement, not kicking the horse permanently with the spurs, and not yanking on the bit Learn about anatomy and kinetics of horses, instead of propagating imbecilities
How should he have done it differently? Man obviously he knows what he is doing to train a horse to that level or else we all would have horses like this.
M.A., C.W., C.A., C.S., M.S. Leider
this is not over bending. Over bending results in the pressure from impulsion going out the outside shoulder. In reining, this exercise is to have the horse bent to the inside while following with their shoulders between the reins, and having their hind end engaged. At every barn I've been to they have taught some variation of this exercise and believe me if they are over bent, they can not follow their head with their shoulders and the exercise becomes impossible. Do you ride western?
Wow what a perfect example of learned helplessness in that poor horse. It is horrific how people can treat their animals. Thankyou Eponatv for your videos to let everyone know what is really happening.

how can people be so cruel to their horses? thank you for publishing, more and more people will become aware of the cruelty on horseworld.
Now, as he is Bundestrainer, he can pass on the Rollkur-riding to the next generation!
Imagine what this would be like if horses could make pain noises like dogs or cats. Just horrible
Today it´s not longer about riding, it´s just about winning and earning the money
side pass and collection helps the horse to dont hit himself while turning
See, the sad thing is.. I don't think people that train and ride like this even understand what they are doing wrong.

Can someone explain to me what reining is and it's purpose? I really don't know.....
you just said it!! go ahead!
Where did the video go??
I think, the "dislikes" refer up the rider, not the video!

The sooner this goes extinct the better for everyone. And the steward calmly checks her text messages. We quickly become immune to violence.
Und keiner sagt mal was !

Pfui.

@inwe1205 probably not :o) how sad
As one knows men and nations are devoted to nonsense with tender faith
jaaa thats right... u understand sth about reining
