Analyzing Stars like NASA - Stellar Spectroscopy

- It's been a LONG time coming but I finally got around to Stellar Spectroscopy! Works very similar to planetary so that knowledge-base is working great. I wanted to do some lower magnitude targets, but with a 6" scope, only the brighter stars really worked. Might try a supernova if any bright ones come around but we'll see.
I've got some Southern Skies, Motion in Astronomy, Solar Eclipse, ISS, Exoplanet Detection, and maybe some Scuba-diving stuff in the works!
Equipment List:
Telescope - Celestron Nexstar 6se
Camera - ZWO ASI 678MC
Diffraction Grading 1 - Rainbow Symphony Diffraction Grating Slide
Diffraction Grading 2 - Star Analyzer 100

Very cool video, I picked up a star analyzer diffraction grating a few months ago myself. Its such a neat little thing!
holy cow! its unbelievable how we con observe these objects this way!
Fascinating.
This is really awesome stuff, I’m an amateur astronomer from Mahikeng, South Africa
GREAT video, Kyle. I wish the videos I posted about RSpec got as many views!
Thanks. Great content and I've learned a lot from you being a fellow SCT owner. I have recently gone down the eq mount path but kinda regret it to be honest. The "fast" astro capability of alt az is very underrated. Followers of the mainstream aren't always leaders. 👌🏼
Managed to build my own star analyzer with a clear 1.25" filter cell and one of the lil rainbow symphony diffraction gratings! Hoping to point it at Vega to try it out, but it works on terrestrial light sources
Great content, very well put together. Kudos =)
Started looking into this a couple of months ago, had no idea you could do this being into amatuer astro imaging. Definitely want to try it out this year.
i thought you would have had like 300k subs.
good content, keep it up
Maybe one day!
I did try with the student's diffraction grating that you showed in the beginning with by 127 mm refractor and ASI 294MC pro colour camera on Sirius and did get a spectrum in RSpec. Still a lot of refining to be done.
This is awesome! I'm in DFW too and just starting my journey. I'm loving your videos and explanations. Do you just do all of these things in the metroplex or do you drive a bit to get darker skies? I can't wait for your next video!
Oh...and do you scuba dive too?! Same here! Do you ever go to Scuba Ranch in Terrell?
Thank you thank you!
I do all of the non-deep sky stuff from within the metroplex yes. Normally just this tiny park a few minutes from my apt.
And yeah! I'm pretty green though. Only ~15 dives in. I got my open water cert at scuba ranch, but haven't been back since. May go back for dry suit training tho.
Fascinating
very interesting
Hi, is it worth the SA200 Instead of the SA100? Or not?
Now let me introduce you to your next obsession: Sol'Ex and Star'Ex.
had a look at it, would never recommend just a ND filter at the front of a scope...doesn't do anything for IR...a ERF is mandatory. Also, be very cautious with using oil filled element refractors - heat build up and cool down will fuck the scope.
Who’s here from Fraser cains channel?
Does Fraser know about this guy? He should, if not!
Guilty as charged sir!
hope you make more vidoes soon, your what is transiting the sun vid. got a ton of views, hopfully it brings viewers, ur vids r good
Thank you! And hopefully lol. Have plenty on the back log
@@kylemccaslin if it's worth anything, from a viewers standpoint I love it when something is explained/thought processes. Kind of like nilered
