I'm kinda new around here but really dig what you guys are all about. You and your Moms are a incoureging reminder that all is not lost in the beautiful state of Cali.🙏🤝
Thanks man I appreciate it 🙏🏽 yeah we just out here being real and filming what we get into. Cali has definitely gone down hill for many different reasons. I’m born & raised in SoCal so I’ve learned to deal with it. But I do agree there’s definitely better states to live in depending on what you’re looking for. The weather is tough to leave tho.
keep it mind that Highland valley road is also very dangerous. A lot of blind corners and cars driving very fast in the other direction, often times coming into the on coming lanes. I live in Rancho Bernardo, so it's very close to me. I stopped riding it because of some of the wreck less traffic on this road. Just wanted to add the FYI, it is very windy with a lot of elevation changes but be very cautious.
I used to ride that loop when I lived in Poway. Next time I come down from Oregon to visit my friends, I’ll have to check it out again. Brought back some great memories. Thank you.
@@Builtonbeers if I remember, I will. I’ll probably be down there next August or September. My best friend that lives in Phoenix and I are planning on meeting up at his mom’s house in Poway. Last week we were talking about doing a ride that we used to do with our dads. It’s pretty much an all day thing that we called the County Loop. We’d leave from our place in Serra Mesa pretty early in the morning. We’d get on 163 and head south to 8 and head to Mission Bay Drive. I don’t remember the name of all the streets we took but we’d ride up through La Jolla until it turned into 101. We’d turn east on 76 and take that out to 79, headed south to 8E to some road where we’d go south to 94W. Somewhere along the way we took a road that went past a lake, Otay Reservoir maybe? I remember that we’d end up on Telegraph Canyon Road. We’d take that to 805S then got on a road that used to have some other name but last time I was down there they’d changed the name to 905. We took that west to the 5, headed up to 75 and ran that up the Strand into Coronado, over the Bridge, got back on the 5 up to 163 and back to Serra Mesa. We always stopped somewhere along the coast for some fresh seafood. Even if we weren’t hungry, the smells coming into Julian would make us hungry and we’d have to stop there for a bite and to get some bread for mom. She’d get pissed if we ever came back without it. We’d usually stop at a different Mexican restaurant somewhere along the way too. I don’t remember how many miles it was but it’s a pretty long ride. We’d get to see the coast, some desert and the mountains all in one ride. Plus we got to ride city streets, a little bit of freeway and lots of fun 2 lane roads. The last time I did that ride was in 08 on a 77 FXS with a kick start 74” Shovelhead that I rebuilt in 93 with new heads so I could run unleaded without adding that lead replacement crap. I should be a little more comfortable on my 02 Road King this time.
@@biohazard_613 that sounds like a good ride brotha! and I’ve done some fairly similar to that, I live in La Jolla so maybe I can link up with you guys when you pass thru. It’s crazy when you were describing the ride I can imagine each part of it. Good route man. Definitely hit me up when you’re doing it!

My go to favorite ride. I used to live in Poway which was awesome. Now I live in San Marcos and take the back roads along lake Hodges to North County Fair to get there and only ride the freeway for one exit. If you wanna take the ‘78 past the wild animal park you can go through Milky Way rd. And it dumps you back out at NCF Good times!
My biker friends and I have been every which way from SD and Escondido up to Ramona and back and Highland Valley is a good one for sure. Also great are the several ways to reach Julian and Mount Palomar, etc. I ride an '06 Triumph Rocket III Classic, the 140 cc monster. I wish I was closer to your mother's size so I could ride the Bonnevilles and smaller Triumphs that were the rage back in the 50's and 60's when I was a kid, well at least before Honda came along. My first bike, at age 23 and beanpole skinny, was a new '71 Honda 750cc, miss that bike. Couple weeks ago after turning onto Pomerado then up Highland Valley we were stuck behind an 18 wheeler all the way up the Bandy road where we decided to turn off. Going up those very steep twisties at 5-10 mph is not much fun when behind a big rig. Thanks for you video.

Are you running stock gearing? Does the engine blow a lot of oil out of the breather cruising above 4k RPMs?
Gearing is basically stock equivalent with the chain drive conversion from lowbrow customs. And doesn’t blow oil out the breather.
The point of view is too low. Your speedo and tach are blocking alot of the view.
Total miles of this trip/route?
I guess if you like staring at old Harley gauges for 20 minutes !!
