Daniel also paid for many of the medical bills because he felt bad for the whole thing. I think he felt a little guilty because David was standing in place of Daniel and then of course he was paralysed for life

I guess It depends on if you go private or not but if it’s for e.g. the NHS it’s supposed to come out of Tax payer money just like the police, ambulances and firefighters, for instance; an individual who calls the fire-brigade because the house is on fire aren’t expected to pay the firefighters and if you call an ambulance because you broke your legs you won’t be sent a bill

I disagree about getting paid more than the actors. If that were the case there would be no need for the actors. The actors bring the star power and actually have speaking lines. I do believe stunt doubles should be paid very well though. Just not more than the actors. Especially since there could be very few stunts in a movie in comparison to non-stunts.

"is any scene really worth someone's mobility or life" that's the right question to ask, and the answer is no. if filming a scene is that inherently dangerous, an alternative is clearly needed. no one even remembers that specific 5 second scene as one that stood out in the film (I know I don't), and yet a real person was paralyzed as a result. changing one scene is not that deep. it's entertainment, and it's one scene. get it together Hollywood. these life altering injuries and deaths are not worth it at all.
To be fair, it wasn't that dangerous. They just pulled him back fast and an accident happened. There were much more dangerous scenes throughout HP franchise. Goblet of Fire is especially notorious for it's Black Lake scenes, which were actually shot underwater in a huge tank. And where water is involved, danger levels go up a notch. It only takes 30 - 40 seconds to drawn if a person starts panicking underwater. That's why stuntman are specifically trained for situations like this. But, alas, accidents happen

In one of the last Resident Evil movies the main stunt woman for the actress got partly defaced and yes it means what you think and lost an arm. It took her a very long time to get any of the insurance stuff to come in and the studios tried to stay away and didn't want to get involved aka pay out.

This guy became legitimately paralyzed by accident from a professional company, filming one of the greatest movies of all time, if there’s anything, I’m sure about, I’m very sure he’s well taken care of, and he has the opportunity now to make sure his family is very very well taken care of. in the long run it’s a blessing I’m sure for him and his loved ones.

Having watched another short of where Daniel Radcliffe had to go through many dangerous stunts such as being under water for a long period several times, and where he had to fall like ten feet when filming the part where he was fighting the dragon and got stuck on one of Hogwarts’ rooftops, and now this other short, and can imagine the cast had to fall while connected to bungee cables on some occasions, I can say right now that these movies had rather really risky moments for the actors and actresses!
