- Planning. Maybe it isn't really a secret but it seems like far too many people skip this step when it comes to renovation. This video walks through the questions I use to create a great renovation plan.

Everyone should start here!
What hit especially home was your discussion of renovating and the significant other.
I renovated the kitchen of our 1896 Queen Anne in a suburb of Boston. The entire house needed work, but the kitchen was the second one I designed and I had a good idea of what I wanted and what to expect. I compromised a great deal with my then-husband, but did get the wall oven/cook top and the bigger window.
My ex specialized in buying houses that needed updating, and then putting them up for sale when the work was done (without my buy-in beforehand). I lived in a "mess-in-progress" for 20 years, only to have to say "goodbye" to my kitchens.
This time, things will be different. I'm happily divorced, and I'm planning my final kitchen. I am chef and pastry chef, and I'm designing a hard-working efficient kitchen. This design will be my last, and I won't be working for my dream, only to have to say goodbye.
Sounds like this time round should be your best kitchen design yet!
Great video! It really gets down to the heart of the matter on any reno, and reminds us about what is important in our homes. Bravo! 👏👏👏
It's funny how we can forget we need to live in it after a renovation!
