Akrotiri is a stunning place. The buildings are elegant, the artwork is very sophisticated. I can imagine that they lived very nicely. When I was there, I had the sense that humanity hasn't made that much real progress in the last 4,000 years. In fact, I wish we could get back to living like they did in Akrotiri.
@@d1agram4 Well now. You may value the internet highly; some might not consider it a step up. And I, for one, have not been helped by space ships. Velcro is indeed a boon but I did just fine without it. Microwaved pizza. Now that's a big step up and certainly puts a crimp in my thesis. But proceeding anyway, we don't know if we have less war, longer lives and a lower rate of death for children than the people of Akrotiri did. As far as I know, they haven't found any swords in Akrotiri and a Mediterranean diet is real good for your health.
Just to poke into this 3 year old thesis I wanted to say stress is horrible for one's health and literally Kills.. And I would bet my left eyebrow that modern (wo)man living in the modern world has a far greater abundance of crippling anxiety and ulcers than people living back then. @@soaringvulture
Those antelopes are gorgeous - they immediately drew me in. I loved the birds as well. There seems to be something about line-based figures that I enjoy. 🙂
This is my favorite painting from antiquity, Hands down! It gives me the sense of the late spring semi-drought, in the wilderness or, at least, outside the cultivated fields. I Can hear the swallows catching flies and flying low between the rocks and the lilies. This landscape misses just the Aegean sea and then I could call it - seriously speaking - sublime art!
santorini is so beautiful. Visiting it was bittersweet as many areas were closed for conservation, yet overall effect of the island as a whole was awe inspiring
this a very good video for the Archeological site of Akrotiri on Santorini, this place is a unique covered museum and to imagine the size is an entire city dating back at least 3000 years ago

I do love listening to you two tell the story. It's so enjoyable.

I've been to Akrotiri. It was an amazing place, and there's a museum in town that had some stunning stuff. The local dogs are also very friendly!
I visited Santorini in 1998 and toured Akrotiri- awesome place
There's something rather psychedelic about the colours and shapes of the terrain on the spring fresco.
Absolutely enjoy your narration to these videos 👍!

Uma beleza e graça extraordinárias!
One day i'll be making these paintings too!
Amazing. I had no idea this place existed.
I had no idea it existed until I set foot in it. It blew my mind.
The Spring Room brings the Voynich Manuscript to mind. Although, the manuscript was created much, much later.
much appreciated video
Atlantis!

Did the Minoans decorate their ceilings?
Thera was part of a confederation of principalities of Minoan culture
Lamentável que os cruzeiros às ilhas gregas não incluam nada histórico :(
