      Alf should have been nowhere near vietnam, they were lied to, sent to horrible war, and if lucky to come back in one piece they're scarred for life. For the Vietnamese South?? It's like the kids get scolded for pointing out the politicians lied to you and used your dead friends and "patriiotism" as an infallible shield of criticism for why these wars were happening

      I dont think anyone would be on Sam's side. He's a little jerk here. He learns his lesson though which is good.

    War's no joke. Just because you may not know anyone who's survived or died in war doesn't mean you shouldn't take at least one minute to remember them
    They died to protect us, and if not for them, who knows what this country would he like now

    If only the truth was told. Wars Australia have entered have been to support foreign empires not to protect freedoms of future generations of Australia. Australia has never been under direct threat. Yes Japan was threat but that came about with Australia entering WW2 on British / American side.

    • @harryricochet8134
      @harryricochet8134 Рік тому

      Ummm, no that is categorically incorrect. In WW2, aggressively expansionist Japan opportunistically attacked the US and UK turning a predominantly European conflict into a global one. Australia was a member of the Commonwealth of nations in part established as a mutual defence treaty and therefore had obligations to assist its fellow treaty partners, this indeed is how a mutual defence treaty works both in terms of its primary function of deterrence and then multilateral action if deterrence fails. Since WW2 Australia fought in Korea as part of the UN mandated force to resist the communist invasion of South Korea, again this was fulfilling a treaty obligation as a founding member State of the United Nations. In Viet Nam Australia rendered assistance to the Government of South Viet Nam at its formal request as member of the ANZUS alliance to resist the North Viet Namese invasion of the Sovereign State of South Viet Nam.
      Your demonstrated knowledge of geopolitics and history is disturbingly deficient. You substitute an arrogant revisionist view of history to conceal your own ignorance by adopting a view of these actions that is wholly informed by hindsight rather than a rational view of the situation that existed at the time these decisions were made and in the majority of instances Australia honoured its treaty obligations. Nobody has the right to opt out of a deal when it comes time to meet their end of the bargain, doing that is a typically post-modernist, woke and despicably selfish way of behaving. Grow up and stop insulting the sacrifices that other generations made to afford you the lifestyle and choices you have today, your smug, faux-superior and nauseatingly self-indulgent attitude is utterly despicable.

    • @MightyRoos
      @MightyRoos Рік тому

      @@harryricochet8134 interesting. I think you are wrong. Military obligations required Australia to help defend parter country if it is directly attacked. It does not require Australia to join the U.S or U.K in theatres of conflict. I will ask the question. Where was the threat to Australia after Gavrilo Princip assassinated Franz Ferdinand?

    • @eljordinio7647
      @eljordinio7647 Рік тому

      And who'd we go support at Golipoli? Aside from the British perhaps? People don't usually enter war unless a threat is present
