    This aspect of equipment experimentation is one of my favourite things about skating. I tried the rocker on my uptowns which was pretty great, the uptowns never fitted well (too big) so the full effect wasn't felt. I should try different wheel sizes on my skates that fit better. Always enjoy the children over thirty series, cheers

    Love the 76/80/80/76 banana rocker but I can see the benefit of your rockered setup, it makes sense.
    Rocker round the clock.

    Interesting stuff. I don't use my Midtowns very much after picking up my Unnatural/Trimax setup, but when I do, I just run a three-down toe rocker. But with my suburban skating commute, I needed to balance stability at higher speeds with maneuverability.
    I used to run the "natural-ish" rocker Joey McGarry described in a now deleted writeup he did on K2 skates (I'm sure you know which one I'm talking about, Drew), but I had a pretty bad accident on that setup... bounced my face off the sidewalk and really fucked up my shoulder, partially tore my Acromio-clavicle ligament, still aches a year and a half later... speed wobbles on a down-hill section with rough asphalt... not fun.

    I remember rockering my '94 Bravoblade GLs and never went back to flat. after 20 years of not skating, I got some 3x110's and I'm thinking of gettting rocker frames.

    Yupppppp. Once I went from solid inline to rockered, I never went back. I, too, prefer rockerable frames to pre-rockered (tho I love my 2019 Igors).

    I have the Seba X2R frame and didn’t mind it too much. It’s definitely a cheaper frame than my Katanas, but it works fine for me.
    I wish they hadn’t stopped making the adjustable rocker frames too, man. Seems like they weren’t around long.. and I’m glad I got all the variations of the Katana I wanted before it dipped out.

      Deez Skates I feel that. Oh hey btw those wheels are gonna be a little later than expected, waiting for the black frames to come in so I can send the red to Brock/wheels to you in one trip

    Just started with banana rocker my self and wow, people need to try it at least once.

    Interesting stuff. I've been contemplating some rockering at some point soon. This gives me some ideas of what to expect & things to consider 👌

      In all honesty though, prior to this video, my wife was really envious of your beautiful hair. Which hurts because I’m balding.

    You mentioned you would need to work up to this rockered set up. I’m coming straight from figure skating to inline skates and I’m worried the banana rocker would feel too much like hockey and trip me up.
    Do you recommend starting with a rocker setup like this one for a figure skater?

    • @CityBlades
      @CityBlades  3 роки тому +2

      Yeah you could go straight to this one and be fine within a session or so. It’s always going to be different but this is going to be... less different than the alternatives. Happy skating 🤜🏻🤛🏻

    Seems like a radical idea but I like it. I may something like it with my R100s so they feel less like clown shoes when trying to learn slalom tricks. Thank you

    I'd love to try this but I'm on a 231mm frame with 72/76/76/72 street invader wheels. Are there even any 70mm wheels? I assume I would need to get rockered frames.

    • @CityBlades
      @CityBlades  4 роки тому

      thisislouiselo you could get a rockerable frame with those sizes or go 68 76 76 72

    How do you like the FR1?
    I have 80s and was thinking about leaving the front in and switching the rest to 84s giving a 2mm rocker from the axle line.

    • @CityBlades
      @CityBlades  2 роки тому +1

      Still love them. Also a back rocker is more fun than a front rocker. I know it seems scarier but it’s really not, especially when most rollerbladers default to a forward lean

      Only figure skating and some urban
      This configuration is very helpful with one foot spins.
      72s on the heels (despite the sense of instability at the beginning) are "must have" for me now.

    • @CityBlades
      @CityBlades  5 років тому

      MrBasforce oh nice! I didn’t have you in my mental inventory of rollerblading figure skaters, lol. Yeah the 72 in the back is nice... making that setup have enough grip for deep edges is still something I’d like to do... just not working with what’s out on the market right now

  • @littorio27

    08:04 "72 down, 80 down, 80 down, 80 up."
    That's 2 0 0 2 mm rocker, pretty standard one. The front has 2mm, not 4mm.

    • @CityBlades
      @CityBlades  Рік тому

      Nope, 80-72=8, divided by 2 is 4.
      4002. For a 2mm in front it’d be a 76 down or an 80 up

    • @littorio27
      @littorio27 Рік тому

      @@CityBlades, "72 rockered rockered DOWN" - you're removing the rocker, right? In result you should get "4(by wheel size) - 2 (by frame setting) = 2".

    • @CityBlades
      @CityBlades  Рік тому

      @@littorio27 that would be the case if the middle 80’s were up, but they’re also down.
      Go do it on some frames, trust me

      @@CityBlades sigh.... you're right. Now I've got it. Simple math is the hardest :)))
