My first Knoxville Nationals. Sat in back stretch. Popular win by Bobby. He had an open trailer. I believe the last time the Nationals winner didn't have a enclosed hauler.
My Grandfather, Dad and I were sitting in the backstretch grandstands that year. We lived 1 1/2 hrs from track and had been to see all of the Nationals from '78 to 2001. The 1990 show will have to be the most exciting for me. I was only 12yrs old that year. Wolfgang was a favorite of mine and to see him work the field the way he did all Saturday night is incredible. I learned then that through perseverance, determination and the refusal to give up will give plenty for people to talk about.
Had a great friend named Dave West that worked for Ed Pink & later Keith Black. Kinser was my guy from like 79 & Diamond Dave would always shake his head then say "Naw, Bubby Allen was the best" Don't know why, but he always called him "Bubby" 🤷🏻♂️ LOL! Well, on this night in Knoxville, Ol' Diamond Dave was right! 💪😎

A great win by Bobby Allen jr.....only to be over-shadowed by "Wolfie's" improbable run through "the Alphabet Soup" ..... all the way from the D-Main to finish 5th in the A-Main. What a Knoxville Nationals!!
This was great. Thanks for posting. I wholly agree with Mr. Forrester, These announcers were also great. Watching more recent Vids of WoO races is no fun at all for me with that screeching, snotty-nosed kid they use now. Sprint car racing is wxciting in it's own right, it doesn't need a screemy mimi to tell us.

It's cool to see Bobby's team win Wed/Thurs night of the 2022 Nationals. Fingers crossed for Sat night.

Back in the glory days, awesome mustaches, mullets, cheap trucker hats great racing
Thanks for putting this on here. I heard about this race decades ago and wanted to see it ever since. I just watched all 4 races and loved all of it.
I was there. An amazing, but heartbreaking loss for a Slammin' Sammy fan.

Best Nationals ever !!! I taped this back in 1990.
I remember watching Bobby Allen Drive modified at Reading
i was at this race. wasnt even a year old but I was there.
Wow no way
Great to see this. Its the only Nationals I've missed since I was 12 years old in 1982. Scruffy was always one of my favorites.
There was no one better than the American Sports Cavalcade crew. Best Knoxville ever.

Thank you for sharing, great race.
Very popular win for Bobby Allen and a great showing by Doug Wolfgang.
Great race. Bobby Allen owned that inside corner.
Ironically Steve Kinser would win the next 5 nationals (91-95) and Mark Kinser would win the 1996 Race.
