- As billions of cicadas emerge from the ground across 16 states in the Southeast and Midwest, scientists are noticing a possible impact from climate change. Since the periodical cicadas that crawl out of the ground are triggered by soil temperature, and since temperatures are rising more quickly in the spring and early summer, the insects, once known for being notoriously predictable, are emerging more than two weeks earlier than usual.

I remember 1990 when they emerged in Southern Illinois. Quite a noise. Now in 2o24
In mokena, IL it’s ridiculous flying in my face 🤦🏽♂️
Our last frost date here in Northern Indiana used to be the middle of May. Now it is the beginning of the month and this year it was the end of April.
Packs had record cold long wet SNOWY winter with record long rainy SNOW clear to S Californic. Magic CO2!
It's always The Hottest Day on Record! somewhere (...climate model simulation...) When 'Delhi Is Boiling!' it was pleasant 80F in Colombo to the south _on the Equator_, but they didn't tell you that, did they?
Repent! Pay your Carbon Tithe and sin no more!🔥👍
It was hotter in the 1930's....
The average frost date has always been presented as a range. Do you have a source for the idea that there is a trend due to manmade global warming? I can't find one. You would think that it would be a top news topic, if it were actually true....
well thats insane cause im right next door in ohio and we are still getting frost. we just had one last week.... we barely got a summer at all last year it was cold so long that it was starting to get cold again by the time the heat really started. lasted maybe 2 weeks of nice weather last july and august.
Wisconsin still had frost last week.
