Lol And now here I am, 20 years later and feeling a twinge of sadness knowing that the animatronics show has been totally taken out of the restaurants now.
I always used to be afraid of the chuck e costume but i think i mightve liked the animatronic. The one i always went to only had chuck e and i never saw a full stage until 2013 but by then i had liled the animatronics
This is my expierence as well. !981 - 1982, as a teenager, I had to wear this terrible costum to animate the kids into putting more tokkens in the machines. The creepy robots drove them out of the stage area into the arcade during the show. The costums were kept in a little closet under the stage, where some poor guy would gag from the stench when putting on the sweat soaked thing. The "actor" was always a busboy, who between running around had to do the dishes. It was always a guy because the girls seemed to always passout from the heat and lack of air while wearing the costum. And yeah, every kid had to pull on the tail (and thier mothers on other thngs...), and no, you couldn't see a damned thing while wearing the head. But hey, I was young and needed the money.
Oh, I almost forgot, the costumes could not be washed, so the sweat was always eating the fur, so that they constantly had to be renewed. Since the store had to pay for this itself and the company was constantly changing the figure, it would seem to explain why so many figures are mixed and matched. Often, the store couldn't get replacements from the head company and had to commission a new head or vest locally, meaning that Chuck, sometimes lokked even creepier then usual.
@@the4tierbridge Yeah, because of the stupid dance floor. No one wants to see a random guy in a costume dance. So they either eat, use their tokens or leave.
@@devclark6161 No, my local CEC still has a fully working studio C stage (the one with the parrot), and people only go the the tables at the front to eat, and watch out of pure boredom.

I miss the doiby and vest. I know they'll never bring it back but I really wish they would. Imagine if they rebranded back to the PTT days, make him a jerk again, make him a rat again, bring back the fourth wall breaks. Maybe they could even create animatronics that truly reflect the classic designs. Eh, a girl can dream...
24:08 This walk around of Chuck features a a design resembling the CU prototype Chuck E. design. It was made sometime in the late 80s and was unused after the CU prototype was canned if you didn’t know.
I’ve always heard this channel was the best place to go for CEC stuff but all the Disney channels doing videos on Chuck and mentioning how awesome your stuff is pushed me to finally watch! Seriously, you’re a wealth of knowledge.
About that 1993 redesign, Duncan Brannan did not voice Chuck E. once the redesign took place; although he did voice Larry the Technician, who was properly introduced around that time. In actuality, Scott Wilson stayed as the voice of Chuck for the showtapes, but would be replaced by Duncan Brannan completely in January 1994.
23:42 This suit was used in mexico. It was used in showbiz pizza pizza fiesta. The only mexico chuck e cheese I know is the last cec that had latex mask for their 3 stage not. I don't remember the location name. All I know is that it is a cec in mexico.
I was born in the early 2000’s but honestly I’m glad we stopped going to chuck e cheese before Avenger Chuck was replaced It just doesn’t feel right to me now that he isn’t there anymore
I can actually answer the question about the modified Chuck that looks like it's using one of the animatronic masks.... It's because it is. Some branches were allowed to do whatever after heads needed to be retired and they needed to wait on a replacement on occasion. So that one used a modified version of the animatronic masks.
I'm getting a little nostalgic here but, Chuck E. Cheese's used to sponsor nearly most PBS shows on one of the shows fundings (i.e. Barney, Arthur, Clifford, Maya & Miguel, etc.)
43:02 The store with the cool Chuck design may be the store near the Mall of GA. The building and signage looks spot on since I grew up with only that design. At least for the sign that is.
As a huge fan of bowling for soup, and when rockstar Chuck came out, I almost fell outta my seat because I knew it was bowling for soup! I’m also a huge fan of all of the puppets
I’m glad I grew up with avenger chuck he’s my child hood but rock star chuck is ok I mean we won’t stay kids forever our time has ended just like 1990s chuck was replaced it’s the next generations turn but man is avenger chuck so nostalgic
As a 2000s kid, I have always found chuck e cheese the best place to go for birthdays and having fun. Glad to see chuck from the 2000s again as I am plagued with the modern one. Good job
I know where the name Avenger came from, It came from a group of heroes working together in response to planetary threats following the appearance of superhumans, such as Carol Denvers.
My favorite version is the Avenger vers. bc I just think hes cooler than the Rockstar one and just seems more "relatable" if that makes sense (like, RS chuck seem geared toward little kids more than teens and older i guess?)
38:10 Didn't you Know that Garner Holt Productions not only did animatronics For Many Disney Parks and Chuck E. Cheese, But that also made Animatronics for Many Thomas and Friends Events and Theme Parks in the Us from 2014 and onward, Mostly the Day out With Thomas Events, where they were contracted by Mattel to manufactured a series of animatronic faces of Thomas for use at Days Out with Thomas events. The five Thomas dummies and Brooklyn Eastern District Terminal #15 were updated from their model series appearance with a CGI Series-style face and animatronic features, allowing them to "talk". They also provided the face for Percy unit the same year. The company later manufactured models of Percy, Gordon, James, and Emily for Thomas Land and Thomas Town at Kennywood along with Thomas. These models feature animatronic faces and are used in both meet and greets and a series of live shows. Guests can also climb into Percy's cab and interact with various buttons, levers, and knobs to activate sounds and lights.🙂🙂
I went to Chuck E. Cheese’s probably around 2009 and I wanted to go again and begged my mom every year until Rockstar Chuck. He made me so angry that I didn’t want to go anymore. The inconsistencies with commercial Chuck and the one in the actual restaurant bothered me when I was little and idk if I was the only kid that payed attention to that kind of thing because when I’d tell someone they’d look at me like I was crazy.
Yes, I would love to see a rant on CEC 2.0. They knew better than to replace the animatronic characters with a stupid dance floor. Those are so 60s imo.
I lost it when i saw the Chuck E Cheese commercial you showed during "the Development of CEC" Chapter. Because I grew up in that area.I know there is a chuck e cheese around there but i do not remember it being at that location when i was a kid. It must of been before my time.
As a mid 2000s kid, I’m most familiar with avenger chuck. I never went to Chuck E. Cheese that much, but I do remember seeing him a few times. I do remember seeing the commercials a lot though. Avenger chuck and rockstar chuck are what I grew up with seeing on tv.
I remember going to chucke cheese when I was I think 5 or 7. It was years and years ago so, yeah. But I won't forget his old design. Knowing his back story, evolution, and development, I now will never forget him. I don't go there anymore but, I will always remember that place, and chuck himself.
One thing I’ll always hate is that i wasn’t around during the prime time of the restaurants. As someone who didn’t grow up in the 80s, 90s, or 2000s it will always suck to me that I can’t experience these old shows, vintage things like this have always interested me and seeing one of the old animatronics in person would be so cool in my opinion
Great video, but you missed some things: -The Cool/Avenger Characters also had backstories(Every Boy Every Girl 1997 and 2007) -The Avenger name came from a Costume Guide -Chuck had a different voice for Deathantion Imagination
I grew up in 2000's mine favorite was the adventure chuck but last time I saw it in person was when I was 10 years old the rock star chuck from last time was when I was 17 years old but it's good
You should do a video about the history of Chuck E.'s friends, too! I would love to see it! Great job on the video, it's very interesting to see the history of things. I think you did it perfect! Have a great day!
I think out of all of the places that exist in the world Chuck E cheese has the biggest history ever at least in my opinion it does because the place was open in 1977 years before I was even born I was born in 2007 in case you didn't know so I never got a chance to go to the old Chuck E cheese Pizza Time theater but I have seen several commercials of it an even now in the present 2023 Chuck E cheese is still open to the public unfortunately though they did a complete remodel and remove the animatronic characters quite frankly I was never a fan of those animatronic characters I still hated to see them go but since I'm 16 now I don't go to Chuck E Cheese's as often as I used to but I still really like it there
They should have kept the Chuck E Cheese 🧀 suit from the early 80's and never changed it. It would have kept him recognizable to everyone throughout the years. I'm a Gen Xer and the 80's nostalgia of early Chuck E Cheese 🧀 just can't be beat!
20:33 the reason for the weird voice is because Scott Wilson didn’t want to fly out to the show’s location to do the voice so after this one show they were able to get Scott to come out he explains this himself in a 2011 video where fans are having a discussion about all things Chuck E Cheese with him. He also hilariously said Because Chuck E Cheese was the main character, it was his least favorite to voice 😂😂😂😂.
The connection between CEC and Funimation actually goes deeper, as some of Funi's voice talent were in the CEC movie, most notably Chris Sabat (voice of Vegeta, Piccolo, Shenron, etc) was the voice of Munch in the movie. This also goes the other way around as Duncan Brannen did some voices for Dragonball Z (most notably, he voiced the evil Babidi) along with other Funimation Productions. Not to mention, both companies reside in Good ol' fashioned Texas as well.
Yep, the Chuck E. Cheese's that was in my hometown I went to as a kid in the late 1990s had the "Cool Chuck" logo on its' exterior, and the mascot costume was also in the "Cool Chuck" clothes, but the animatronic Chuck E. still had his tuxedo and derby hat (it was either a 2-stage or a Road Stage, but I remember they were DEFINITELY Cyberamic bots). Whoa, Sid and Marty Krofft were involved in developing Chuck E. and his friends?
@@NathanSpies Them being involed doesn't make any sense due to the time line and based on what Harold Goldbrandsen said about not only making all the early costumes, but also all the early animatronics by himself.
@@NathanSpies Travis Safer (Founder of Showbiz Pizza.com) had a correspondence with Harold Goldbrandsen (Who built the first costumes and all of the early animatronics) and not once did Harold said anything about the Krofft Brothers being involed.
I haven’t been to Chuck E. Cheese’s since I was a kid in Maryland. There was no Chuck E. Cheese’s when I lived in San Angelo, Texas. I now live in Nampa, Idaho near Boise. There’s a Chuck E. Cheese’s in Boise; I know the restaurants have changed overtime, but I want to see it for myself.
I watched the video on UA-cam about Concept unification and another good thing is the video didn’t make me cry at all. because I was a Chuck E. Cheese fan. not a Showbiz Pizza fan. I don’t grow up in the 1980’s like you but I’m not sad about that change for the first time I saw it.
42:19 ... And a forward hat. :3 I'd say the reason why Rockstar Chuck looks like he has a full-blown makeover is simply because they finally cut all ties to the designs based on the very first rat costume Nolan Bush bought all these decades ago. I get a feeling we're not gonna see an animatronic version of him never time soon.
the thing i love about chuck e. cheese is about how the lack of information in certain locations has its own mysterious and questionable photos which makes the chuck e cheese company much more unique and interesting (sorry my english is pretty bad)
I have the weirdest memory of being in a Chuck E. Cheese restaurant when I was much younger and there was an individual animatronic on a stage with purple spangly curtains. I can not for the life of me remember which character it was, I just remember they had it running without sound so it would just turn its head and blink its eyes like it was looking around.
When I was on my computer, I discovered this live stream on the Chuck E. Cheese channel on UA-cam and Bella has planted a pizza plant for Mr. munch, but there’s something that I heard about this and that is pizza doesn’t grow on plants pizza growing and plants will be so silly.

Lol
And now here I am, 20 years later and feeling a twinge of sadness knowing that the animatronics show has been totally taken out of the restaurants now.
When I was little I wasn't scared until I was 8 lmao
This sounds wayyyyyy too similar to my childhood too
The 1982 articulated Chuck E Cheese looked pretty cool and is my favorite version of Chuck E Cheese
Duncan is THE BEST Chuck E Cheese, id argue he was the voice during CEC’s Peak Years. “Where a Kid Can Be a Kid”
I agree
I hope they start to decrease in money due to the fact that they're removing animatronics so they can realize that they need the animatronics again.
But, they don’t? Most kids just stay in the arcade area,
@@the4tierbridge Yeah, because of the stupid dance floor. No one wants to see a random guy in a costume dance. So they either eat, use their tokens or leave.
@@devclark6161 No, my local CEC still has a fully working studio C stage (the one with the parrot), and people only go the the tables at the front to eat, and watch out of pure boredom.
@@the4tierbridge Studio C is boring, it only has one animatronic, that's why. Sorry for your childhood I guess. But most people fortunately grew up with the full band.
@@devclark6161 You sound like a manchild. "my childhood was better than urs cuz i saw the full band heheheh" Shut up.
Never say never!
They did bring the Vest and Hat back for 40 Anniversary in 2017. It was removed the following year.
Circus Baby's pizza world is like Showbiz Pizza Place, is it?
24:08 This walk around of Chuck features a a design resembling the CU prototype Chuck E. design. It was made sometime in the late 80s and was unused after the CU prototype was canned if you didn’t know.
Concept unification video made me cry too and I didn’t grow up in 80s 90s or the early 2000s
I’ve always heard this channel was the best place to go for CEC stuff but all the Disney channels doing videos on Chuck and mentioning how awesome your stuff is pushed me to finally watch!
Seriously, you’re a wealth of knowledge.
It hurts hearing Chuck's newer voice when you just heard the New Jersey voice of chuck
20:40 It was used in other shows as well, like one of the Summertime segments. That voice is a lot more common and the attendance is spotty.
I don't care about chuck e cheese, I'm not even american, but seeing someone caring so much about something with so much love is amazing
The fact this was obvious made in iMovie amazes me. I used to use it and it’s very limited so respect.
Oh I movie? Where u can make ur own movie trailers?
@@gwenmloveskpopandmore yep!
I know this has nothing to do with Chuck E Cheese but I’d love to learn about the history of my favorite restaurant Pasquale’s pizza and wings.
That’s basically just CEC but with a different name
@@NathanSpies oh no! I’ve eaten only Chuck E Cheese for the last year!
All I know is that it is a cec in mexico.
dude i love how they gave chuck chucks
I was born in the early 2000’s but honestly I’m glad we stopped going to chuck e cheese before Avenger Chuck was replaced
It just doesn’t feel right to me now that he isn’t there anymore
I will admit i love rockstar chuck he looks kid friendly
I can actually answer the question about the modified Chuck that looks like it's using one of the animatronic masks....
It's because it is. Some branches were allowed to do whatever after heads needed to be retired and they needed to wait on a replacement on occasion. So that one used a modified version of the animatronic masks.
Thanks for the Info!
Umm no. This is a mascot costume made by Harold Goldbrandsen and tested by the company in some stores during the late 70's.

I grew up with avenger Chuck
But rockstar Chuck is badass
Plus he’s voiced by the lead singer of bowling for soup
And He Was The One In The Phineas And Ferb Theme
What the hell with Rockstar Chuck
As a kid in the 90's and I loved going to Chuck E Cheese's and it was my childhood place to go.
I think to all of the OGs will agree that the pizza time theatre Chuck was the best just my opinion!
I really like the chuck with a cigar
Please use a different name
Carol Danvers is an embarrassment to marvel
I like the ad were chuck was shocked at the mom having a mowhack and drop in his spoon
FOR REAL!!
Do you mean 90s style
1988: Chuck performing with the animatronics
2023: Chuck perfoming alone
You know what it's actually like this:
1977: Chuck E Cheese with friends on stage
1997: Chuck E Cheese only on stage
I remember going to Chuck E. Cheese once and getting stuck in the sky tubes idk if it’s a legit memory or not
50:08 gives me nostalgic pictures of that image
Smooth off
Chuck e cheese really decided to do the middle finger 💀
I lost it when i saw the Chuck E Cheese commercial you showed during "the Development of CEC" Chapter. Because I grew up in that area.I know there is a chuck e cheese around there but i do not remember it being at that location when i was a kid. It must of been before my time.
Nathan, did you know in 2017 when they were celebrating 40 years of fun the put the original vest and bowler hat on the studio C animatronic.
Yes i did

As a mid 2000s kid, I’m most familiar with avenger chuck. I never went to Chuck E. Cheese that much, but I do remember seeing him a few times. I do remember seeing the commercials a lot though. Avenger chuck and rockstar chuck are what I grew up with seeing on tv.
28:04 Fun Fact: The Chuck E Cheese Costume With A Black And Yellow Derby Was In The CEC 90's Live Tape!!!
“I wish there was a way to know you were in the good old days, before you’ve left them.” - Andy Bernard.
I remember going to chucke cheese when I was I think 5 or 7. It was years and years ago so, yeah. But I won't forget his old design. Knowing his back story, evolution, and development, I now will never forget him. I don't go there anymore but, I will always remember that place, and chuck himself.
Fun fact the beeping sound 35:41 is the same one they used in the banana splits movie
When I saw concept unification for the first time I was like " ooh taking apart robots? That's cool".
This is amazing. You just made a whole movie about Chuck E Cheese.
One of my favorite fun zone’s All-Time Growing Up Chuck E Chesse’s ❤🎉😊
Great video, but you missed some things:
-The Cool/Avenger Characters also had backstories(Every Boy Every Girl 1997 and 2007)
-The Avenger name came from a Costume Guide
-Chuck had a different voice for Deathantion Imagination
Wow I didn’t know that!
I grew up in 2000's mine favorite was the adventure chuck but last time I saw it in person was when I was 10 years old the rock star chuck from last time was when I was 17 years old but it's good
In 2019 the logo was updated with the font reverted back to the 1989 font while keeping the same Chuck E artwork from 2017
My favorite Chuck E. is the one with the two screens 🥰🥰🥰🥰

He's done one for Jasper.
Jeremy's Chuck e cheese's voice sounds like Tom Kenny's Spongebob voice. listen closely and ur believe it!
I think out of all of the places that exist in the world Chuck E cheese has the biggest history ever at least in my opinion it does because the place was open in 1977 years before I was even born I was born in 2007 in case you didn't know so I never got a chance to go to the old Chuck E cheese Pizza Time theater but I have seen several commercials of it an even now in the present 2023 Chuck E cheese is still open to the public unfortunately though they did a complete remodel and remove the animatronic characters quite frankly I was never a fan of those animatronic characters I still hated to see them go but since I'm 16 now I don't go to Chuck E Cheese's as often as I used to but I still really like it there
That Helen henny puppet and mascot is adorable
How did you know that?
Yep, the Chuck E. Cheese's that was in my hometown I went to as a kid in the late 1990s had the "Cool Chuck" logo on its' exterior, and the mascot costume was also in the "Cool Chuck" clothes, but the animatronic Chuck E. still had his tuxedo and derby hat (it was either a 2-stage or a Road Stage, but I remember they were DEFINITELY Cyberamic bots).
Whoa, Sid and Marty Krofft were involved in developing Chuck E. and his friends?
Actually it unknown if Sid and Marty Krofft had any involved with CECPTT.
They did have involvement, One of my Instagram followers contacted them and they said they did
@@NathanSpies Them being involed doesn't make any sense due to the time line and based on what Harold Goldbrandsen said about not only making all the early costumes, but also all the early animatronics by himself.
@@papachillothezappey4050 I’m sure the Kroft brothers were at least consulted with during the production of the animatronics and costumes
@@NathanSpies Travis Safer (Founder of Showbiz Pizza.com) had a correspondence with Harold Goldbrandsen (Who built the first costumes and all of the early animatronics) and not once did Harold said anything about the Krofft Brothers being involed.

AHH THE PIZZA MOUSE CHUCK E CHEESE HIMSELF ITS NICE TO SEE A HISTORY VIDEO OF THE STAR MOUSE HIMSELF
When I was at the Chuck E. Cheese in San Jose he sometimes wear a big San Jose sharks (NHL)jerseyfor some reason
42:19 ... And a forward hat. :3 I'd say the reason why Rockstar Chuck looks like he has a full-blown makeover is simply because they finally cut all ties to the designs based on the very first rat costume Nolan Bush bought all these decades ago. I get a feeling we're not gonna see an animatronic version of him never time soon.
dude imagine Chuck singing the Phineas and Ferb song and collabed to sing for any song
the thing i love about chuck e. cheese is about how the lack of information in certain locations has its own mysterious and questionable photos which makes the chuck e cheese company much more unique and interesting (sorry my english is pretty bad)

I can not for the life of me remember which character it was, I just remember they had it running without sound so it would just turn its head and blink its eyes like it was looking around.
