Just got my first pair of Altras with the wide Lone Peak 5 and I am loving them so far. They may actually be a bit too wide so now I'm torn with trying the Torin 5 in a wide or going standard and hoping it is wide enough. The journey for the perfect shoe is never ending! My favorite Altra shoe up until recently was the Altra Provision 2.0. I put over 300 miles on that shoe with no issues. Now my favorite is the Altra Torin 4.5. I still have every version of the Torin since the original. I'm a heavier person for my height that does muscle building workouts and like to incorporate running into my routine. This shoe allows me to get in good 5 mile runs with no issues. I cant wait til the Torin 5 comes out.
Torin 4, hands down! I'm pretty excited and glad to see Altra helping local running stores and allowing Running Moore to be the first ones to publish this. I realy hope this lives to the TORIN 4 expectations, cause the Rivera was a "ehm".

Thanks for another great review. The Torin has been a favorite except that last version, just to narrow, so happy to hear Altra is offering a wide verison. Torin 4 was by far my favorite version hoping that this fits as good. I have give Topo a look since Altra has been becoming more narrow, it's a good option if your looking for the foot shaped toe-box.
Love my Altras. I’ve got the Timp Trail, Escalante, Lone Peaks and Superiors. The Superiors are my faves as they fit the best and have less stack height than the others, but has enough cushion for when I’ve got a ton of walking to get in and my minimal shoes won’t work in that case. I’m a huge Altra fan and recommend them as a great transition and all around great shoe.
Favorite Altra... man that’s a tough one, so many great shoes! I’d go with the Torin 4. With that greyish/black with yellow accents. Bought two pairs of those so they definitely did something right! Can’t wait to check out those 5’s though with the new mid sole.
Torin 4 is my favourite Altra, and one of my favourite all time running shoes. I actually went into the store to buy a pair of trail running shoes, but loved the Torin’s so much I bought them, and then had to go back when I had more money to get some trail shoes 😆
I was wearing Hoka 1 Clifton 5 then went to Bondi 6. I decided to give Touring a shot and Tried the Torin 4.5 plush and fell in love. I will probably love the Torin 5.
I've been an Altra fan since the original Instinct. Your channel always offers by best most informative info on Altra Shoes! As far as favorites go, for road it has to be the Rivera for me and for trails it is the new Lone Peak 5 but if I was pressed to select only one it would be the Lone Peak. Both are Goldilocks shoes for my particular needs. Looking forward to the new Torin.
Excited for this Torin 5 with Ego midsole! I'm glad I held out and didn't get the Rivera. I've been wearing the Torin 4 Plush for the past few years for my long runs (which came out before the 4.5 Plush but different than the regular Torin 4).
Having recently transitioned to zero drop shoes, I’ve purchased several popular options. My training involves lifting, kettlebells, calisthenics, integrated with running. The Altra VIHO is currently my favorite shoe. A close second is the Altra King MT trail shoe.
Lone Peak 3 started it all for me so it has a warm place in my heart. Now, years later roads or trails I simply can’t run with anything other then Altra.
Tried them on, and sadly disappointed. The 9.5 (my usual size) is too short, and the 10 feels huge. I guess they have extra overall width. I guess I will have to skip this generation. :(
Whoa! Thanks for the review. Hard not t be excited by new Altras! I get great runs from my Escalantes but count my Torin 4's in my top three favourite running shoes of all time ( Thats from the 70's +). I like the Torin Plush 4's as well but not the same and have had a couple of lukewarm runs in my new Riveras so the jury is still out. I'm from Australia so not going for the giveaways just wanted another chance to say how much I'm enjoying Altras and be a little sad that they are discontinuing the original mid cushioned Torins.
How fun! My new favorite is the Provision 5. I just got it about 10 days ago and I can’t seem to pick up any other shoes since😆 Altra is smart to start making slip resistant/ work type shoes. I’ll def get some of those as well.
yes after wearing Altras for so long most toe boxes now feel uncomfortable! You probably know this but make sure you are giving your body time to adjust if you are wearing zero drop for the first time -it takes a while for your Achilles to get used to it :) Thanks for watching
Hi Steve, I couldn't find anywhere to try the Altra's for size, so with fingers crossed, I ordered a pair of the Lone Peak 6 online. They arrived today, and fit perfectly, including the right amount of toe room!!! Thanks again for your advice...
I love the Torin 4, always have been my go to for long mountain running, even on road to light trail, I just love Altra that I bought the escalante racer and Olympus 4 and now looking to get LP5 and these in near future. I wish they have more colourway option.
My favorite Altra is the Paradigm 5.0 they just now ordered today my Torin 5 WIDE from Runmoore!!! Really looking forward to the toe box width!!! ... and supporting Altras' move in this direction!😉✨✨
Torin 4 Plush has been the most comfortable shoe that I've ever worn. Will probably buy another pair or two before they run out of stock. Hoping the new 5 midsole is as cushy as the 4.5!

Great reviews as always. One slight correction, you said the “plush” was only in the 4.5 model but there was in fact a 4.0 plush model as well. I have both. And I have to agree, Altra models are very confusing as they constantly kill or split off lines.
The leather one with the slip resistant it’s gonna be a success for all of us that love Altra but so far we couldn’t wear them at work. I will buy two at least.
Thank God they made a wide!! The plush 4.5 I couldn't use no matter how extra length I put on to it I tried half size over the normal half size plus the half size over that and it was still too narrow. As much as I thought the comfort of the plush was awesome the narrowness just didn't work as an ultra wide toe shoe box at all!! I look forward to trying the WIDE size!!👍

Just picked up a Torin 4.5 Plush today- feeling great about the purchase after seeing this review, But, a little worried after doing more research and seeing people have had problems with the uppers breaking down. Several years on the brand and love them...Instinct (3 of them), One 2.5, Escalante (2 of them), now Torin 4.5. So far, the Escalante has been my fave, but these felt great in the store; fingers crossed they hold up once I start using them.
The Torin 4 is my all-time favorite, hands-down. I'm on my third pair now :-) Pairs 1 and 2 are actually in pretty good shape (after 600 miles each), so I still rotate through them for shorter runs. I'm not sure if I'll go for the Torin 5 or the Escalante next time. I tried on the Torin 4.5 Plush and didn't like it, so hey, we'll see.
The 4.5 has changed my life running. I bought 4 pairs because I'm scared they will ruin it with the new iteration, not thrilled it's now 1 shoe, but we'll see.

So far, the Torin 2 has been my all time favorite Altra. May even go as far to say all time favorite show.

Currently using the Escalante 2 and Torin 4.5 Plush but the Torin 4 was my first and all time favorite Altra shoe.
Lone Peak 5 has been my favorite and got my attention quickly right out of the box. Excited to see more Altra shoes incorporating the EGO midsole.

Yeah for width!!! My MTPJ is 115mm. Torin 4 (4.5 Plush was a bit narrow) has been my fav for running, Escalante for walking around.
Escalate racer for the roads and superior 4 for the trails are my favs!

Loved the Altra Torin 4.5, but a little tight in toe box for my feet. Really excited for the wide version!!

Torin 3.5 is my favorite. I’m unsure about the higher stack height of the 5, but am hopeful the new model will be a great update!

By far my favorite Altra is the Lone Peak. I wish I had picked up a pair of the Chamonix models they were pretty nice.
Timp 2 for me! I still wear them over the 3s. I even have used them for tempo road runs and winter road running

We have not seen any issues with the upper durability in store.
Current favorite is the Escalante 2.5, the new upper is sooo comfortable.
Altra duo 1 is my favorite. I like a rigid upper and a big midsole

I really liked the Viho! I bought multiple pairs and was bummed to see them go away after only one year.
