I'm so happy to have shared this video with all of Tina's fans and to read all your comments. It's one of those rare moments that is just too good to be forgotten. Some of us were old enough to remember this memorable occasion. For others who have come to know Tina after her worldwide success, it's a nice surprise for them to look back at a younger Tina. She's had an amazing journey so far. Thanks for all your appreciation. I'll try and post some more videos of Tina soon. Renato.

Incredible. I watched this episode as a teen and cried having grown up watching Tina on YTT. Filipina did well for herself. What a talent. God given and nurtured for sure. It was a privilege to see her perform live recently. God bless you Tina.
It’s spelt "Filippina" and she went by "Pina" until she acquired her stage name of TINA.
Quite odd and disrespectful to refer to her by her birth name sorry to say . We have stage names for a reason -I am a performer so yes this triggered me I apologise.

If you didn't you surely missed out on something phenomenal; a mature, vibrant and even more powerful interpretation of this song. Many of you including myself have been waiting almost 30 years to hear Tina sing it again - and BOY it was well worth the wait!! Tina Arena was my imaginary friend when I was aged 2-4 (79-81) to the extent that my parents were worried cos i kept running away to go find her house, in the end they caved and drove me round Melbourne to find it till i fell asleep. I woke up screaming the next morning cos i wasnt with my best friend Tina.

MacArthur Park done by then-16-year-old Tina Arena... Richard Harris was still alive back then, he and Donna Summer would've been eating their hearts out! Tina did the definitive version of this song. Forget Harris & Summer, This is Tina's song, now and forever!

lovin' tina arena! she's really amazing. became a fan of hers ever since her song burn came out in 1998. flash forward to today and i watch this and a couple of other YTT vids of her for the first time, and i can see that her voice is really powerful.. she sings with such emotion that one can feel it.

I remember seeing this when it aired. YTT was one of the only shows that my whole family watched together. I have been a fan of Tina Arena since her days on YTT. I have vague recollections of her performing ABBA songs. We were taken to the Northland Shopping Centre in Melbourne to meet members of the Young Talent Team.
Those were the days! I used to do the Northcote Plaza singing comps up on a podium. It was fun... I should really upload a better version of this. I have better software now, but that means all the views and comment stats will disappear from this post... I don't want that...

what can i say about tina i absoutley adored this young lady i remember watching her back in 1979 with that trade mark fringe one of two favorites of the series
Went to school with Tina at sister primary schools used to see her at sporting carnivals I recall kids were mean to her just immature jealousy. It could not be that easy even before social media everyone knew her bc so much exposure on YTT. I'm Italian too and I'm so happy for her that she forged an amazing career and life and now back in Melbourne. Wish her the very best in all her endeavours.

If you have the whole episode, or any others from that time, I’d love to see them. Sadly with VHS tapes lifetime about to expire many of the YTT performances are being lost.
Tina was the best talent on this show. Her voice has always been good and she is a natural performer. It's a shame she left Oz. Don't hear of her much now.

Ah Raes.....the good ol' days. We were privileged in having Tina perform at one of those school concerts back in 83' in a tribute to FAME the movie. Was gr8! She did a fantastic version of Fame, Is It Okay If I Call You Mine?, and awesome back-up vocals to Red Light.

I think Tina Arena had matured fantastically during her tenure as a YTT member and her vocal talents had reflected this, in what was her swan song as a member of the team...Other than that, she was possibly the last really talented singer of that bunch. Dannii Minogue possibly ranks a close second, but in its final years, Young Talent Time had cranked out some rather mediocre talent, sad to say *sighs*

Yes thats right, when this was filmed she was still 15, her bday is november 1st 1967 so it was just before her 16th bday..

@Corvair777 your comment is worthless when the height of Tina's success happened when she was a child, teenager and woman in her twenties. Although she still tours, her music doesn't get played on radio anymore. She tours and makes a lot of money overseas as well...but saying middle aged women love her is stupid. Women in general love her voice.

Why was the clip of early Tina in monochrome when she joined the show in 1977? Surely it should've been in colour!
bad handling of the master tape a bad copy to U-Matic?..... most of the master tapes of YTT from the start to 1978 were scuttled by the TV Stations cause of the high cost of the tapes

Tina Arena has a better voice than D.M and K.M in my opinion. I am the same age as Tina watched YTT growing up, sorry but Australia never gave Tina Arena the recognition she deserved as they did to DM and KM sad really.
I'm not sure about that anymore Sandra. I used to think that too. But now I think Tina has earned a great deal of respect here in Oz. She also appeals to a really wide audience overall imo. They're just my thoughts.
