The thinkorswim platform has a new technical indicator! Introducing the Anchored Volume Weighted Average Price ("Anchored VWAP" or "AVWAP") tool! In this video, we provide a guide to using the Anchored VWAP to trade stocks, including a review of how the indicator is built, as well as discussing potential strategies for entering and exiting stocks using signals generated by the indicator.
Join us each week for this beginner's guide to chart analysis. Your education coach will carefully demonstrate the technical and analytical tools available through a variety of trading platforms and will use real-time examples to illustrate common charting techniques, including such concepts as trend identification, support and resistance application, and the usage of candlesticks, price patterns, and oscillators.

Actually, one can set the anchor date by simple right-clicking on the preferred date and selecting "Set date to..." on the pop-up menu. Very quick! I hope this helps! ^CM

I had a 1:1 with a Chris at Schwab on Jan 31 and inquired about AVWAP. He was good enough to dig deeper and sent me a script I could load into TOS to add it as a study. Looks like maybe the Schwab team thought to add the study as an option- seeing it is now available. That is great and thanks to Chris if he did the leg work to kick off getting this to happen - I have it now up and running. Cheers

Discovered you do not have to use the calendar. You can also right click on a date on the chart and it allows you to set the date for the anchored VWAP.

I've been using the anchored VWAP for years, changing the start date to a different day as I felt necessary, but it didn't have the upper or lower band of standard deviations.

This is nice, IMHO, it should have been created as a chart tool allowing the anchors to follow the ticker’s chart set. Good for common event anchors though.

The TOS Anchored VWAP needs a START TIME in addition to the statrt date... like everyone does to react to big intraday swings.

Question to Cameron: I was able to get script from TOS Indicators so I could add the AVWAP to my scan tab. However, I am unsure as to the particulars of how I should set up the scan to find trade entries. Any chance you could do a video on this subject?

To change the date, you just right-click on that date. Maybe that's an update since your video.

When will it be available on mobile TOS as a chart tool? Awap on mobile doesn’t work can’t change the dates. 😢

Can u ask developers to make it anchored any place you want? Like anchored on candles or 9.30AM instead of just date? 🙏

Cant change the dates on mobile. Can yall fix this. Only way i found is to change the time frames. Like 20 Day 1 hr.

Set your alarm! You can actually right-click on any date on your chart and anchor the AVWAP that way. Just as quick as drag-and-drop! ^CM
can I use Avwap on forex,Indicies Pairs?
Conceptually, yes. Some traders use it for just this purpose, but of course, performance on any given trade is never guaranteed. Thanks for watching! ^CM
why doesn't old thinkorswim platform have anchored VWAP?
Think of "old" as meaning not having this upgrade or Anchored VWAP. Or, the answer is in your question.
I just checked the TD Ameritrade version of thinkorswim, and I see that Anchored VWAP is available there, as well. If you haven't logged out since Sunday, you may not have received the latest update. Also, be aware that my demonstration was done on the desktop version of thinkorswim, and not the web-based version. In any case, I hope this helps, and thanks for watching! ^CM

Wake me up when it can be used for intraday swings
Anchored VWAP is also available for application to intraday charts, although VWAP is possibly more commonly used for those timeframes. Here's my recent tutorial on that indicator: ua-cam.com/video/1gL57tNxvM8/v-deo.html.

@@tradertalkswebcasts I think by "available" you mean higher time frame anchor. I meant on lower time frame. When I can apply it down to the minute swing, like HOD/LOD.

@@tradertalkswebcasts I had to go to Google to find the download but I do have it working. They really should put a link on the website. From the website, it only has a link to the PC file.
I wish this station could get directly to the point with their videos way too much non relevant material involved. This could probably be boiled down to a 15 min video. No indicator needs a 40+ minute video to effectively teach it's use.
