I love you, Devin. I’ve been following your journey for nearly 30 years. There are a lot of parallels between your life and mine. I had the opportunity to see you on the Dreamsonic Tour in Orlando last year, and it was a dream come true. Your transition into your authentic self over the years has been inspiring to watch, and that’s what I’m most excited about with this new project. Take care, man. I appreciate you. Thanks for the connection.

For real, and I relate a lot as well :)
I was showing my girl a video of love w SYL live, then from retinal circus, she really noted how he's grown just by seeing how he carried himself. He's kept growing and is an inspiration for light seekers and the open hearted, and for those who seem to become those things themselves.

As an angsty teen, SYL was huge for me, and as Dev moved forward, I was growing as a YA, tho he's almost a decade older, his transitions have mirrored mine... but since I've transitioned my gender expression, I appreciate this process so much more - we're ALL on a journey to find ourselves, there's no right or wrong path, except connecting with your true self and letting that light shine through the flesh (the new flesh)

It's funny, the way you describe Powernerd sounds a lot like how I would describe Ocean Machine or Accelerated Evolution. Likewise, the way you describe The Moth puts me in the headspaces of Empath and The Puzzle. It'll be interesting to see what, if any, DNA of the older works exist in the new and how the various current projects will play against each other.

A lot of people underestimate how important it is for the audience to know their favorite creators enjoy the creative process.
Nothing brings me peace like Devin's music. Not only is it enjoyable and awesome on itself, the knowledge of it coming from an authentic, honest creative process makes it that much more enjoyable.
Love from Colombia, Devin. Your fans think of you and wish you the best from all over the world.

One HUGE thing that helped has me deal with Leukemia treatments and dealing with my own thoughts was listening to your Xmas quarantine concert at Halloween. I’d already sort of heard both your Halloween and Xmas concerts a few years earlier, and I enjoy Steve Vai in the Halloween one but chose to pick the opposite of my initial preference. Everything you said was something I was dealing with immediately, and no longer the quarantine bs chaos. Your words, your powerful voice were better than words I could put together to deal with my same emotions and miscommunications with those I love. You were playing an Alan Watts, expressing a wish of just peace ✌️ . On the same visit my nurse kept saying “Zen out” you both helped big time with learning to do that. I found more Alan watts chill step and it would could just put me to sleep but also in a different state of mind. Keep going, keep it together but make time to zen out.

Alejandro Jodorowsky Chilean (French) filmmaker - Holy Mountain. A masterpiece. I can understand if people may not think so if they watch it, but it is.
Devin, all I can say is that I appreciate everything you do. You are an artist and have therefore a creative mind were many ideas have taken form and will do so for ever. I can understand it can be chaotic when so many ideas want to come out at the same time. I'm so happy to be one of your fans and be part of your amazing journey as artist. I saw you perform Lighthwork in Barcelona, which was of the roof, and you ended with LOVE which was such a surprise and treat. Listening to one of your latest creation but also having the great opportunity to hear one of your previous and most powerful songs. Loved it! Keep doing whatever your heart, mind and soul tells you to. I'll be here ready for everything. Thank you, you are amazing!!! The moth it's going to be another epic creation for sure.

I love that Dev has so many outlets & projects with different energies that he has to purge these ideas on a subconscious level before returning to the project that's requiring 100% of his focus. These updates are such a beautiful insight to how the artistic brain works. It's very fascinating. I look forward to The Moth & The Moth (Dev Cut/ Penile Version) as well as CoC & Power Nerd. I relistened your Steve Vai interview and I must say, the second listen I got even more out of it, since it is really dense (in a good way!)
Perfect for every artist who experiences some sort of writer´s block, this conversation is gold! In case you haven´t relistened (I bet you did) I would highly recommend it.
Maybe you should work together again at some point. When you mentioned the collaborative feel of your previous conversations about the moth, maybe it is already happening on one or another level?

I wanted to say (Dev) that I appreciate you delving-into why you don’t streamline the projects into a deliberate sequence. For many (and at times myself for sure), it’s exhausting to cycle efforts…and easy to fail at all of them simultaneously.
That’s the thing I’ve learned late in my life: What works for you…makes you who you are. We aren’t you, can’t be, and couldn’t no matter how hard we tried. That’s not an asset, but a liability.
Been a real pleasure watching your journeys over so many years. But these days, it is completely ‘next-level.’ Your past is clear, your present is clear(er), and the future has many focused targets. As a musician and lover of music, it’s a very high time.
Thank you for all of your intentions, and for sharing your gifts.

Your honesty and your true connection with us on levels that go far beyond music - is so valued and helpful to so many of us. My heart grew 2 sizes hearing that you have found and reclaimed your mojo. The reason your work is so amazing is because the intent is so well delivered. So happy to see you comfortably in the Flow! That tug of war between wanting to optimize, feeling an obligation to do our very best... and then waking up and finding that our best comes naturally... it's just a never-ending cycle, I swear. It always feels like playing hide-and-seek with yourself or something. Maybe some people have it figured out, I don't know, I definitely don't. Maybe it's just the ego being really creative in how it presents, by sneaking its way in and going "yeah, I'm not going to 'control' this creative expression, I would *never* do that... but I can still optimize the conditions I use to elicit that creative expression, and I definitely have to keep myself productive..." Kinda... excusing its way back in, right? Oh well, all part of the journey of being human. :)
I hear great confidence from you today and it's very inspiring, very motivating. Especially during this time of year, depression tends to hit me pretty hard being indoors alone constantly, so thank you for sharing your confidence and passion.
And thank you for sharing in-depth about each project. Every project sounds very special and exciting in its own way, but I have to say I'm most excited about Casualties of Cool. The first album has been a staple in my art studio for many years now, it has a very special place in my heart. I'm very excited to see how that concept has evolved over a decade.

I'm looking forward to finally hearing all the new music Devin is making, probably one of the few examples where I like absolutely everything he does. And I was very happy that you decided to continue Casualties of Cool, the last album was truly magical, I'm sure the new one will not disappoint either) I fondly remember the only concert that Devin and the team gave in Moscow and which I was lucky enough to attend, of course, in the current circumstances, something like this is unlikely to happen again in the near future, but I really hope that in the future I will still be able to go to Devin's concert and enjoy incredible live music)

I feel I can parallel a lot of your struggles. The "work" I do - something that I truly enjoy and only consider work due to the stress involved, is also really project based. I hit those periods of sort of "numbness" or what I might call decision deadlock, and I do think they really put a person into a depressive state. I think the light at the end of that tunnel is knowing there will be days that it gets better, and the payoff will always be worth the pain. There are many things that cannot exist in a vacuum, I don't think people can grow without embracing discomfort as part of the process.
All the best, Enjoy the sun and the warmth of the coming spring - (on I'd say an emotional level, canadian weather be damned)

I can't imagine there being any reason in the world not to follow inspiration at this point and the older I get the more I realise just how rare it is. Hell yea man
The thing you mention about thinking and self-examination; I am struck by a particularly savage line from Thomas Ligotitt: "If truth is what you seek, then the examined life will only take you on a long ride to the limits of solitude and leave you by the side of the road with your truth and nothing else."
The great thing about inspiration is all that questioning that fundamentally has no bottom because nothing about your self or your mind actually has a ground truth you can get to - all that acid - is simply replaced by something else for all that machinery to chew on. Self-examination can be useful but only as part of a trip somewhere

It sounds crippling to be that self-scrutinized, the amount of your stuff that ends up on the virtual cutting room floor most artist/bands would die for, a lot of fans would love it too no doubt, but quality control should always be a thing.
During my most prolific period between 2000-2006 I composed over 100 tracks, I felt inspired almost every day, sadly listening back to them now there would only be 3-4 that I'm actually proud of, so always quality over quantity. :)

ok. I enjoy the music as much as the next person... but its getting a bit nauseating.. having stuff built just for one small purpose etc... not exactly going for saving the planet, or celebrating humanity in music here...Or exploring, reinventing... just using, megaconsumption... build, make, buy, sell, get... and for pretty much nothing... no. I want to be a positive commenter.. and I'm here as a fan.. but this gives me a bad taste.. Hopefully when these projects come out they'll do tons of good for all kinds of people. The guitars will help people out of depression, and the atmos will open pathways to wellbeing we could only dream of....
And most of all, I hope, and think these albums will rule. which is important...
Ok. sorry for the bad outburst here.. I would rather have discussed it over a coffee, but I don't have the contact-info.
Still love the zen-like updates. It's lovely, relaxing, informative, interesting, and engaging.
Regards. from an old wet fart.
