The base pull on this car was 400 rear wheel horse power which equals 460 flywheel horsepower, The factory rating on the LT1 and the SS is 455 horsepower. So Yeah, Frans video title " 700 hp NA LT1 is correct.
Your doing the math backwards. They lose 10-12% from flywheel. So 12% of 700 is 84. Minus that from 700 equals 616whp. So it’s close enough to 700 to say that in my opinion.

I also work off the actual chassis dyno figure and add the drivetrain loss to that to approximate the flywheel horsepower. C8 corvettes drivetrain loss works out to approx 12.5 % as the engine, trans/diff which is one unit are bolted together directly.

This is a pretty impressive motor. My 421 ls3 makes 520whp on a middle of the road cam because I to fall into the don’t want bucking car crowd. Great work guys.
I’ve seen these base model LT1 get down to 3200 without taking out the entire interior. With a good driver and the right conditions this could possibly keep up with a C6Z for the most part.

So it’s not clear to me where the extra 50ish is coming from with a “streetable” cam like you guys are using (which I COMPLETELY agree with) but…. the numbers are what they are and I’m not arguin. Great video! Question, so what if the fuel tank was 100% full of sunoco E85-R (race e85)? Would it help get more hp rather than 40/50% mixture? I'm from Texas, did a Gen 5 swap to a truck. Frankenstein cnc heads, msd intake, 103mm tb and El-c7 cam from TSP & 6l80e transmission.
I wrench for a living on big rigs and I jus love how you guys can work in T-shirts the rigs we work in are always full of grease etc. no way we can work in t shirts and stay clean 😂😢
Camaro Lt1 I’ve noticed don’t make as much RWHP even tho it has the same engine as a SS . I’m thinking that since they don’t have as aggressive trans as maybe an SS does or the added cooling and features maybe it takes away a couple hp

100% agree, 10whp is not worth it for a bucking, hard starting and rough idle car. Also Camaro is I think only 250-300lbs heavier than a C6 Z06. Basically Camaro is just a Vette with a heavy passenger in it all the time.

Whoever that is that can’t sleep, they’re having DT’s(Delirium Tremens) from them energy drinks. Them drinks are no good. This condition typically lasts 3-4 days but can last as long as 8 days. Hang in there. Don’t pick up.

@@RaceProvenMotorsports . Looks to me like the video is of the rear wheel horsepower variety- on account of the dyno. And the wheels going roundy-round. They do sell an engine dyno to measure flywheel horsepower though. Point your camera at one of those.
I hate when people putt my car makes 700hp when What counts is what you're putting down to the wheels the road to tires But it doesn't count and don't care what the motor makes to the crank no what matters is what that car can put down so if it puts 611hp then it's 611hp not 700 🥱🤔🤣
These guys are great but I must say… the LT1 camaro is NOT 1000 pounds heavier than a C6.. the LT1’s are known for their light weight at around 3500lbs curb. While a regular 1SS-2SS could be more like 3650-3800.
I don’t think a 2SS is 3800 pounds 😂, Leather seats and some extra sensors isn’t going to be 300 pounds extra. That’s like convertible territory. Also two 2SS 1LE car would be the heaviest due to wider rims/tires and a beefier suspension so he could be comparing it to that.

100% incorrect there genius. 10% loss from motor to wheels, therefore it makes around 660-670 at the motor.

My 2022 SS was covered in oil when I went to do an oil change with only 15k miles. Dealer had to pull the motor and reseal the pan.

It’s not even close to 1000 lbs difference. The difference is 500 lbs. Per GM the LT1 manual SS Curb weight is 3619 lbs

Correct. I believe A10 LT1's weigh in at 3600 or 3700. The M6 is slightly lighter so for sure about 3600-ish.
