There are some image models on CivitAI that make insanely good images, but a lot of them are overly specialized. We just need a really good general-purpose model. Video generation is still pretty weak though. SORA technically exists, but if nobody can use it, then it's irrelevant.
It's a data problem, takes far more information and context to make an image look coherent than it does a song. To make this point extra hard, audio is often a side component of video, in that they need to be sync and match the screen, so you have to solve audio eventually if you really want to tackle full video generation.
I mean I don’t think this is much better than visual generation at the moment. There are still a lot of artifacts and weird stuff going on here, but I think people are just more willing to listen to low quality sounding music than looking at a weird looking picture.
