Good news. Hydra is still one of my fav impulse purchase I have ever done. Your preview videos were the final "Fine, I will throw $1500 at the first synth of a new company & not at KORG or Roland, who have decades of making things. See what happens.". [spoiler: greatness happened. ]

@@1980VINZ I think for some special sounds you still need the specialists ;) a 303 for example.. I tried to archive that sound with operator, abl3, monark, neutron, model d, Hydra... All sounded crap compared to the analog behringer td 03 I own now.. Can't imagine what a real 303 sounds like.. But the td03 is so enjoyable... But you're right... We have to spend years and years to fully use the Hydra :)

Wow! They actually added some features I requested and wrote to them about - distortion, new filters and modulate a macro. And that step-lock lfo is something I needed but didn't know that I needed. Very impressed with these updates!
Thank you for making this video. I think it's the third time watching though it now... Once before getting the synth, again when I first had my very own HSK and again now when I'm fully understanding it's capabilities. I can't wait to put some of what I learned here into practice. Cheers!

I'm someone who loves analog polysynths. I have a couple. I really wanted a change. ... Hydrasynth arrived yesterday. Just the polyphonic aftertouch is a wow factor. It's gonna go great with the analogs I have. I'm actually going to have to study now I have this, instead of just twiddling.

Just bought a Hydrasynth and wondered why it had no distortion effect. I googled if there was a cool way of doing it and up came the 1.5 update info. I am a happy chappy.

Nice one - step sequencing still seems to be a work in progress though, if Dreadbox can add step-input record to what looks like an orange school book with a cling film screen then I'm sure ASM can produce a faster workflow for sequencing with multiple slot storage Additionally it should sync to scale mode. See the two buttons that have silkscreen that says “page” right under em... they change.... pages. Other than that , everything is contextual. If you are changing something in an envelope screen... press that envelope button. If you need to change something in the mutant, press the mutant. It’s all rather obvious and easy.
i can’t figure out the “gray synthesizer” inspiration for the LP STN12 is and its killing me now. anyway thanks for this. i’m getting a hydra desktop soon and its great to see such a juicy substantial update after just one year since launch.

How do I know which OS version is on a newly unboxed Hydrasynth? Does it show the update version at power on? I can't see anything that tells me. Hydrasynth unboxed yesterday. Sounds great. It is not updated with 1.5 because there is only the BP filter on Filter2.
Really loving the update BUT ASM mysteriously changed the keytrack parameter in a way that renders values between 50% and 150% to be artificially closer to 100%. This is somewhat of an issue for me since it renders many equal tempered microtonal tunings such as 10, 15, 18, 20 (etc.) EDO/TET impossible to achieve exactly, and significantly sacrifices the precision of equal tempered microtonal tunings that approach 24 EDO (22 is essentially impossible). I could see where this would help with randomization and making expressive key tracked detuning, but the straightforwardness of the percentage is really missing. The published information on the update makes no reference to this change. Does anyone know exactly what algorithm they are using?? If it was a true percentage, for instance, 15 EDO should be 80% keytrack, as it was on 1.4, but now it is somewhere around 69%. Knowing the exact algorithm could really help me work around this change!
Very good, already downloaded. Hey Ken, is there any reason why the Oscillators aren't a mod source. It would be great to be able to route keyboard pitch audio rate modulation on the filter. Is this a possibility?
I've tried to fm the filter from an external Eurorack oscillator and they don't fm in the way you'd expect at audio rates. I love the Hydra filters but they don't seem to react well to audio rate fm.

Hi I wanted to ask a question I’m not into the modular setups due to costs as health is very bad but see you have the matrixbrute which I also own as well asm hydra synth desktop and both have modular inputs and outputs could you share some advice if it’s possible to use the 2 together as I have no idea of what I’m doing

Would be cool to send OSC 1 and 2 to Mod 1 and 2 outputs so you can process them externally and then insert them back via Mod 1 and 2 inputs.

1.5.2 is the current firmware. Check your firmware in the system menu.

sure , you can both send and receive modulation between the two units both via CV and via midi. a very powerful combination
Hey ken, does semi lock work for all modulation or just step LFO? I’d love to be able to have an envelope go up to a locked octave or 5th etc.
Just the step lfo but you could put that lfo to one shot and it would act just like an envelope

Could be pads related. Their state can now be set as the power on default

Some of bigger file could be “user-assignable ribbon controller can now send NRPN or pitchbend data.” Keyboard version only.
