- Peter J. Hegarty and daughter Aileen visit Ireland in 1957.
Peter was born in County Mayo in 1899. He immigrated to America in 1920 where he worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad.
Thanks for sharing. Good viewing.
I love it that Grandpa films mom walking across the street and then she films him.
Thank you so much for the history.
The black beetle was bought from Germany and later sold to my dad. We had it in Brawley, California.
Thanks for the reply. The (what look like areil) shots of O Connell street were taken from Nelsons Colm which was blown up a few years later by the Ira. Trinity collage and possibly Collins barrics also feature and are still around today.
Great memories and not so nice but thanks for the film
The first and last parts of the video are filmed in Dublin, im assuming the rural part is mayo. The red car at the end is american, possibly a pontiac. Strangely the black beetle is left hand drive and on temporary zz plates, which makes me think they possibly had it sent ahead to Ireland and they arrived by air afterwards.
Where in Ireland was it filmed ?
Lots of push bikes and no "cycle lanes, no litter or obese people - salt of the earth, what happened ?!
