We need more no trend footage... their live stuff is nothing short of some of the most notorious in the whole DC scene... No trend was the no wave of no wave, the creme of the crop.

It seems that information about him is hard to come by.
Other than he basically hated people so much he killed himself. Most people don't need to know more than that-but I can't help but be curious.
When I first saw this clip, I realized that he looked and acted exactly how I figured he would.
      Weird....

The first time I saw them play was at an outdoor concert on the National Mall in Washington D.C. supporting the local "progressive" music station. They were relentlessly heckled and harangued and pelted with garbage, beer cans, etc. It was magnificent. They were magnificent.

No, I moved to Boston for college in the late-80's.
A lot of semi-famous members of various D.C. bands worked in local record stores. Ian McKaye and a bunch of DISCHORD folks worked at YESTERDAY & TODAY Records in Rockville, MD which is where I lived in my early teen years. Most people in the early hardcore scene semi-knew each other (at least peripherally).

One look at this vid tells you a lot about this band. They mocked and sneered at you, all the while being tremendously entertaining. One of my all-time favorites and certainly most underrated and unknown groups ever. Damn I'm so mad now that I sold all of my NT vinyl to a used record store....nevermind that I don't have a turntable anymore. Thanks jackhug for the upload!

I first heard this song back in '83 when the band were interviewed on the Maximum Rock and Roll radio show (I listened to and recorded it off of WSBU Stony Brook) thought it was fantastic! To me they were the East Coast/D.C. answer to Flipper. Frank Price's guitar playing and sound was truly "Out There".

In high school some goth chicks invited me over to their house to watch Christian Death videos, and somehow this clip of No Trend was tacked onto the end of the VHS tape! I was a huge NT fan and was totally stoked, but the goths were like eww what is this stupid shit and why can't they play music.

Only heard it played a few times on WSOU, a local college radio station here in NJ, back in the very early 80's...now I have the "sound" once again, besides my memory of it! :)

+fheisk how do you feel now? I found that I fell out of this kind of cynicism and other darker pleasures (Faith No More for an easy example) for a while, but have returned to it with less of an obsessive attitude. Now I generally don't care, and this is just good music, and very articulate and expressive. I don't quite feel like these guys, but I'm also not so happy-go-lucky as I was for a bit. This stuff's good. Not gonna bump it all the time tho, ahaha. But, I do bump Jizzlobber and Cucku for Caca all the time...hmm.

Hey I know this is long overdue, but I finally found out what guitar it is. It is a 60's Kapa Continental. I bought the Drag City No Trend boxed set, and in the book that's included, they briefly discussed some of the gear they used. Also with some research i found the amp he used is a Yamaha G50. One dead giveaway is when the band takes the amp and you can see that it has a single 12" speaker. Hope this helps, Cheers.
