It's obvious that the JoJo Bizarre Adventure creator Hirohiko Araki handpicked these songs for the outros to the anime series because of how much of a fan of western music he is. And this song fits in perfectly with Stardust Crusaders since the timeline is set in 1987 and this song was recorded in 1987 as well.
It's made full circle, really. Western music inspired an eastern author, and this author's work inspired eastern readers to take the same interest in western music. Then JoJo became popular in the western world as well, so now it's westerners who are taking interest in their own music because it's featured in one of their favourite eastern shows.
if only Crunchyroll and Bamco would repect that and keep the names to what Araki named them. It's NOT a copyright or legal issue. A name for a character is fine. If he tried to make a BAND with the same name as another band, then there would be issues but naming a character or attack after a band is perfectly legal. CR and them are just stupid AF
@@Kougeru I do wish theyd keep the original names too but I understand it's probably too much of a liability to risk having to pay all those potential royalties, especially as the references become more and more prevalent. If the rights holders REALLY wanted to I'm sure they could legally take them on for a share of that revenue. As fast and big as JoJo's fanbase keeps growing, the more inspired these rights holders might be to try to cash in on the use of their identities and intellectual properties, etc. I do think it's dumb and I would just see it as free publicity if nothing else, but I think that risk is definitely there. Better to play it safe for the anime.
I'm 27 years old,and i remeber this song since i was kid,just rediscovered it yesterday,beautiful song.Pat Metheny,Kenny G,and Sade are unique,special musicians I will always cherish.
Pat Metheny (g), Lyle Mays (p,k), Paul Wertico (d), Steve Rodby (b), Armando Marçal (per), Pedro Aznar (m-ins, v). Greatest Pat Metheny group of all. Thank you Pat for all this heavenly music you provide us. May you live the longest possible so that you can transmit us God's emotion !
Greatest jazz guitarist in my lifetime...saw him 3 times in concert, and additionally sat outside while he performed on the Boston Common. Lyle Mays, equally brilliant...
I dedicate this song to my Mother, who died April 2nd, 2008, and my baby sister who died of leukemia on Good Friday of '93. Bless you my Loved Ones. See you at the Train Station.
Man, I still remember seeing this in concert 15 years ago with the lights going in a circle. It remains one of the best concerts I've ever been too. The music is soooo damn good that it really sticks in your head for a long time. I'd highly recommend seeing him in concert if you ever get a chance. Its totally worth it.
This is one of the most outstanding performances I have ever heard. No words. I am on the Last Train Home for good. I can say I saw Pat perform once before I die.
I'm amazed that after 20 years, we are still posting comments on this song. That alone proves the validity of true beauty and passion for something wonderful. I salute the folks that have upheld standards to something this awesome and now have an ability to share with others.
Since I first heard this song in concert in 1996 I haven't been able to get it out of my head. Definately one of Metheny's best. I can still see the lights.
I took a trip to Costa Rica in '08' and listen to my Metheny music. This song reminds me of my Dad who die in '05' Taking the Last Train Home. It makes me feel good, he was a great guy.
As a kid growing up, my Uncle Paul turned me on to Pat. As a father, I played this to my son when he was little and we called it the train song. Pat rips this like no other!
First time I saw Pat was at a little club in Cambridge, Mass called Debbie's in 1975. Pat played a lot of small venues around town at that time. We sat on the floor like a bunch of school kids (we were actually - first year of Berklee) - and I fell in love with his sound. Since - I have seen him in Rio and New York - and this is one of my all time favorites. Brings tears to my eyes every time....he really has a beautiful soul...
I agree that Pat is a unique talent - I have had the pleasure of seeing him play live on many occasions and he is mind blowing. This tune is a particular favourite of mine, I don't know why but it just touches something inside. This is music at its best, touching your emotions. If you ever get a chance to check out a Pat Metheny Group concert, don't miss out.
my favorite part of the song is when the vocals come in at about 3:22....he intertwines instrument and vocal better than anyone i know....that's one of the reasons why Speaking of Now is one of my favorite albums of any genre of all time
i`m a portuguese fan that saw him 5 times live.He simply breaths music...he have get me in to that train, going home, just like he wanted that i feel/imagine it...great Pat,GREAT music(hope my english is understandable)
When I heard this song for the first time I thought about how I always heard the train at my grandparents home who are now deceased. It gave me a warm feeling, and I couldn't do anything but remember when times were good, and wait to hear the churning wheels on the track.
The first time i heard this song was back in 1992,i was working in a hotel front desk and this song was used to amenize the lobby,so i kept hearing it again and again.....It is a great song.
Use to have a DJ in Flint Michigan, WDZZ, 92.9? that would play this song every morning around 7am. Would keep me in touch with all feelings as I drove to work. It evokes, Joy, Pathos, Will, Love, Sympathy, Happiness, belief in God....none of which solves a problem but, strengthens you to handle. Thank-you whoever you were.
This is my all time favorite group. Never before has music touched my soul the way theirs does. This song in particular takes me away....far away from anything that bothers me to a beautiful place.....Who needs drugs when you have the Pat Metheny Group to listen to!! Thank you so much guys!
This track always has that carry me away thing going on as though I'm on that train. Besides, it's such a great musical composition orchestrated nicely. Plus, the drummer deserves credit for keeping that beat for over 5 mins.
Beautiful music. Perfect to be listened at home in the midnight hours while lying still. I've studied many a nights while listening to this soothing music. I've got the CD; but, I've never seen the video until now. Thanks Pat! For the awesome music!
From Costa Rica, I'm costarican I meet his music beacuse a canadian friend, since that time i had't never seen something like this, now he's my favorite musician, nobody can ba the same or similar.
To have 'Last Train' right in front of a superb LIVE 'Are you going with me' is just plain orgasmic--glad I found this youtube mix. You ever see Metheny live? I was lucky enuf in Sta Barbara Aug 2012-best concert i eve saw in my life and perfect sound. Ate some 'edible' 2 hrs b4-I was at Valhalla's door.
I've probably seen PMG ten times. This song fills my heart and soul in so many ways. The vocals are so moving - each artist and instrument perfectly accompanies the other.
This is a song that I've "always known" since before I can remember, from my father playing it. Just recently I was visiting him, and he is just now finally getting around to using the internet, and imagine how pleased he was to see one of his (and my) favourite musicians and songs on youtube. He has been buying Pat's albums from the beginning and was lucky enough to see him live many years ago. Anyway, sorry for the life story, I just wanted to mark up another "thanks for the youtube video."
This is one of my all time favorite songs, has been since my dad played it for me when i was a really little boy. It always brings back memories of listening to it with him...we still do listen to it together. We just did on our last Amtrack trip. Such an amazing song, thank you Pat Metheny, we need more artists like you.

Excellent! I love the sound of the Electric sitar! Used in so many hits in the 60's Pat Metheny was able to create a preformance that had a nostalgic appeal but let was a comtemporary work. You cannot deny the sound...the feeling. His music has sculpted a new generation of listeners. He indeed changed my appreciation for fusion since 1971 when as a young man, Pat taught music theory at the University of Miami where I began my freshman music classes....I cannot think of a single musician who has impacted me more.
wow..havent watched this video, this song for quite some years. nowadays music tv doesnt show this piece of art, of quality...wonderful piece of music. The musicians are superb. Pat plays and feels so wonderfully..his music always carries someone to another spheres.
