I've always appreciated the acting skills of Timothy Odumdson, and I am so relieved to say that he did this massive part of my childhood proud with this short.
***** I think "reboot" may be to strong of a word. :-) Seems all the latest "Reboots" are hit and miss. However I strongly agree it's time for Voltron on the big screen. The DVD special features of the cartoon series, as well as World Events themselves have said a live action is in the works. Here's hoping it's soon. :-)
+Michael Hyatt I've heard that too. I think the now dead Wizard magazine was the last place I heard it. If a movie would be done faithfully is the only real way I'd be interested. Not meaning to step on peoples hopes but Hollywood doesn't have the most steller reputation. When it comes to faithful movies. I did see a Thundercats trailer (could've been fan made) that looked promising
Couldnt have said it better myself...this looks promising WTF... We're an aging generation they think were abit outdated this would have been definite hit in 2000..motherfuckers lol
The newest Power rangers live-action is not very valid. Power Rangers the show is very corny. The movie gradually switches from 'kids on bikes' / 'teens in space' to corny power rangers in its middle third. Its 'kids on bikes' / 'explorers' phase is not authentic but is the part of the movie I liked the most. The authentic power rangers part of the movie is the part of the movie I liked least. Either way it should be original show cheese the whole way, or the more exploratory, serious version for the whole movie.
Awesome. I've loved this guy since Psych. And he was a total badass on Supernatural. I would watch a Voltron movie starring Timothy Omundson in a heartbeat. I'd love to see more of these if it were possible. My inner child would thank you.
Gus: Why do I have to be the black lion Shawn? You know I look better in blue, plus every body knows the head gets hit the hardest. So I'll just see myself down to the foot
This needs to be turned into a full-length feature film I would definitely see it. This short story was awesome I love how you get to see the Red Lion at the very end. This movie would kick ass if it were made into a full-length feature film
I just heard about the new live action Voltron movie with Henry Cavill and was immediately reminded of this I hope they can capture what you were trying to do here.
Thanks for the love on this project everyone. I had a blast composing the music. I understand the comparisons to Serenity there is a definite nod to that film/series but Alex and I both felt the Voltron theme needed to be represented in a big way and not sound cheesy. We hope you love it as much as we do. :) Cheers!
This was incredible, but sad that Voltron lost. But it could open up a new beginning. It really added a realism to the show. I would love to see a serious real world take on Voltron. What if Voltron was real and found on earth today kind of thing. Lots of possibilities there.
@@ffviifangirl1 YES I LOVE THAT TITLE but same characters as they've had so far for Voltron. Preferably keeping the same general VLD characters condensed a bit for a movie rather than a show.
is there EVEN a reason WHY Hollywood hasn't jump on this? seriously was really epic on a small budget scale and the look and feel of the inside of the lion was rip out of the cartoons! you my good sir are awesome...why can't Hollywood get more people like you that have a clear vision?
It has a great story to it to. The reason why it's not a movie is more of who owns the rights to sell Voltron, and bidding wars. That can hold things up for a while.
Yep, this really does a great job capturing the look and feel of the lion, inside and out. Unfortunately, any Hollywood version will try to update Voltron itself in a way that it will barely resemble the one we identify with. This is one of my great frustrations with many cartoon series and comic adaptations. I look at PJ's Lord of the Rings movies and continually wonder why we can't get more adaptations like that, that show a love and respect for the source material. I understand that there are certain storytelling deficiencies in cartoons and comics which need to be addressed for the big screen, but I feel like so many of these movies are trying to sell me a ridiculous knock-off.
Not last I checked, which was about a year ago. There was a bidding war going on.It's possible Dreamworks is involved in this bidding war with several companies, but they obviously do not own all of the rights. This was as of 2014. Dreamworks aquired Classic Media in 2012 which owned the Americanized version of the animated Voltron cartoon series. World Events Productions owned Voltron, the company behind the original Japanese shows and feel they own the rights to any movie productions. A new deal was made in 2014 where World Events Productions owns the rights to Voltron. There's a lot of speculation going on, including Paramount wanting to create a movie version.
With the announcement that there's a live action movie coming, I had to watch this again. It would be neat to see Timothy Osmundson in it. I can only assume from this video that he's a fan. I don't know what age range they're going to go with for the pilots, but he could make a good Coran. Either the straight-laced original or the goofy Legendary Defenders version, he could make it work.
Wow Hollywood need this guy to direct the live version of Voltron. this is what a great 80's anime need to relive itself in today's universe . Great job Alex
Amazingly well done. I was surprised to see a recognizeable actor like Tim Omundson; great performance. The Red Lion shot at the end was IN.CREDIBLE. I hope to see a Voltron movie soon, based on this concept! Thumbs up!
The short film is such a gorgeous masterpiece. It's a travesty that the short version is able to get made here but that the long form is not able to take. Its truly rightful place on the big screen
World Events should turn over the reins to this group. I'm a novice film maker myself and watching this short gave me the chills. Thumbs way up to the actor in this short, the effects, and of course, the poor lion. Didn't think I'd find something on UA-cam so awesome and so tragic at the same time. From a Voltron fan that grew up in the 80s........excellent work.
Fantastically done! This is a perfect example of great scifi on a budget. I would definitely watch this and suggest it to anyone i know if it turned into a movie/etc. On another note why can't the tv industry make shows like this anymore? Seriously, we need more space opera!
Ok, before I watched this I thought it was going to ooze with cheese, now that I have seen this I completely agree that I was wrong! You have to continue with this project, you have me hooked!
This was really great. I felt as though this was really in line with the look and feel of the 1984 animated series. This would be an awesome intro to a live action Voltron movie I really think they should include this short as the introduction to the live action movie which would then transition into Voltron being rebuilt with an upgrade. It would be awesome to see scenes of Voltrons past victories and an epic battle between Voltron, zarcon and Lotor before he gets destroyed and then rebuilt.
It's nice to see artists dream big in a few minutes to create. Make more of these. Just random snippets of film from a film/series that may never get made whole. The mysterious-ness of it keeps the audience appreciating it more.
Wow...what a great performance...I was left wanting so much more. GREAT job and thank you for some of the best 3 minutes of my viewing entertainment. Can not wait to see more.
Wow. This is amazing. I am a HUGE Voltron fan and a HUGE Psych fan so this is the collaboration of the century for me. I can't believe I'm just finding this now, great job!
This is so epic. I absolutely love this and want to see more. The direction where he's talking but you see his emotional reaction is superb. Absolutely fantastic.
I have watched this a thousand times and it just gets better each time. It makes me long for a live action. Ugh, will have to just keep waiting I guess.
I've never seen anything Voltron before, but this was very captivating. I just a sense that this guy has been fighting since he was the cliche young optimistic young hero, and after a life time of fighting he's reached his end, but he's somewhat at peace because he believes Voltron will rise again. Very well done!
Wow! I'm a huge fan of the Voltron Cartoon series. This certainly strikes the right tone for such a great series. I hope this can be expanded into a full movie one day soon!
Compliments, sir. Very good work based on a series beloved by so many of us so many years ago, and certainly a way to 'handle' where the series story 'might go' dependent on the circumstances of where it might be beginning...
Wow this trailer gives the chills ebry time I see it. It makes me fell like just tuning the key and start the engine on that lion. and go and do a drive by , shoot ebry monster I see on space . but then I remeber that its just a trailer...jajaja I remeber in 1984 when I was 9 years old I use to run and haul ass just to get home and watch the next Voltron epesode...
Wow -- excellent Voltron fan film! Fantastic effort by everyone involved, Timothy Omundson's performance is top notch. I'd love to see further Voltron shorts like this, perhaps focusing on the other pilots and what's they're doing.
I really hope when someone does finally make this film that they don't screw it up!!! This trailer is a great start for the story and the cinema photography is perfect!

8 years later and this is still better than any movie today
whats the name of the movie?
12y now, and STILL no movie.. :(
I've always appreciated the acting skills of Timothy Odumdson, and I am so relieved to say that he did this massive part of my childhood proud with this short.
agreed loved him on xena.
I cant even say how many times I've watched this. Gives me chills every time. Come on Hollywood!!!! Get with it, lts do a Voltron movie!!!
Michael Hyatt I've lost count too... So awesome.
Voltron should be reboot on movie screen ;)

If Power Rangers can become a movie then Voltron can become a movie.

2 things that must happend if voltron will live action

Yeah, he also played an evil leprechaun in a Disney movie.
What character did he play in supernatural
@@allieniehoff279 He played Cain in one of the later season's of the show.
Wolf ohhhhhhhhh rightttt
SHAWN: Lassie! LASSIE!!! Are you alright?
LASSITER: NOT now, Spencer! I'm trapped in a robotic lion with NO life support!
Goosebumps watching, I wish their was more to watch...
+Felix Brown if only that happened
I think lassie should've played sven, and shawn should've been lance, since lance is the smart ass of the series
Gus could be hunk, that would be great

Lance was my favorite! This was so epic and I love this so much. I'm hoping there will be more.
Great actor it sucks he had a stroke. At least he still alive though he has damage to his nerves. I loved him in psych.
I just heard about the new live action Voltron movie with Henry Cavill and was immediately reminded of this I hope they can capture what you were trying to do here.

to think this was out 9 years ago......i still want a live action voltron. i believe we all still want it.
Maybe Michael Bay can write and direct it?
This was incredible, but sad that Voltron lost. But it could open up a new beginning. It really added a realism to the show. I would love to see a serious real world take on Voltron. What if Voltron was real and found on earth today kind of thing. Lots of possibilities there.

Meg Rid and by that you mean toys, or movie rights, cause DreamWorks owns Voltron

maybe have Timothy as executive producer? he clearly gave this some serious respect. it wasn't cheesy or flaky.
This should turn into a movie, I would love to see this.
Just happened to stumble on this Jem while looking up Timothy Omundson's film credits. This should definitely be a full movie and he should be in it!
Oh my gosh, yes to all of this. My skin tingled!
This is executed magnificently.
I just gained a lot of respect for that actor.
There was more drama in this clip than in the last two Transformers films. Very well done.
