  • Exactly what it says on the tin. As much as I love the Purcellyra, I never used it because I felt that it lacked firepower on its own. It is very heavily reliant on other ships to break shields to use its main arsenal of powerful armor-breaking missiles. It also requires strong escort to keep enemies suppressed. FINALLY, I created a Purcellyra that I feel is very combat worthy that can stand on its own, without relying on others too much.

Purcellyra's usefulness heavily depends ho what the player puts on their Large mounts and the middle mounts which support the ship.
*Before the great nerf. It has four large mounts and only 60DP which turn the entire sector to hell.

TBH, I'm not sure what the new version UAF Purcellyra is like, I haven't updated. I came a bit after the Raar's video on UAF and he had a much older version of UAF with fully customizable Large mounts where the fixed Minirest mounts are. The 2 Large mounts up fronts used to be Semibreves, but weren't effective from efficient shield mitigation and blocking like the MVS ships for the flux cost. So I switched to anti-shield guns on the 2 Large mounts up front with 3 Medium Sawaras so Minirest can actually do their job now. She's probably not supposed to be front line, but I have all aggressive captains, so this definitely works for me.

@@Matrix2Strata017 Most of the Capital-class ships are nerfed by increasing DP.
This makes UAF Capital focus fleet deployment no longer a good thing.
*Only Rillaru is still 40 but it has paper-thin armor and HP, so it can no longer trade fire with most of the Vanilla Capital.
**Purcellyra is 70 DP. So Reisen II (M) with 65 DP is better when trade fire against other Capitals.

Appreciate the insight. IIRC, battle size could be edited higher which would work around that, to which I don't think raising DP solves balance, unless one stuck with default 400. I think it complicates it more since we have tons of faction and ship mods. MVS, in particular, is incredibly strong, stronger than UAF, which I wanted to express with Purcellyra, they are my current benchmark. In the end, we just have Mod imbalances. I actually plan to critique UAF extensively. Thanks for chatting.

@@Matrix2Strata017 MVS is focusing on sturdy lines and long-range snipe.
Their ships are very suited to hold the line and deal an insane amount of damage before the enemy reaches them.

Yep, something I really want to speak on. When I started Starsector, I kept hearing UAF was the most OP mod out there, until I discovered MVS (accidentally). The Cainhurst is every bit worth 60DP, considering MVS has no super-capitals, unlike UAF. However, I wager the strongest point of MVS is actually their strikecraft and weapons, disregarding MVS ship stats. I actually don't like UAF large weapons, except Sawaras. I used Mjolnir guns, ScalarTech Stitch Beam, MVS Gluon Lance, for larges. UAF mediums, I do love Medlavs, and I think they are perfectly designed. If balance should be made on UAF, I hope devs look into their weapons instead of moving DP around. I've ranted enough. Hopefully, I will get a Review video published. I have the first draft done.

Always include a Fleet overview to display the loadout. Whats this thing rocking?

I used to, until my analytics showed me that the loadout overview was the most skipped part so I started trimming it out. I have been considering a series of "Build Share" videos. I'll try to address your question in one of those videos instead of a super big wall of text here.

@@Matrix2Strata017 A screen shot or still somewhere is the goal. Of course it gets skipped, you look at it while paused or take a screen cap and then jump to the action? :D
Big brain energy and a few other channels go in depth each time and that might be something completely different which I understand is not the objective in a lot of videos.

Correct me if im wrong but she used to not have those Large Launchers attached to her on previous versions of UAF right?

    • @Matrix2Strata017
      @Matrix2Strata017  9 місяців тому

TBH, this is technically an "older" version, version number 0.7.2g1dc (created for Starsector version build 0.95a-RC6/0.95.1a-RC6). UAF has now been updated to the newest Starsector build, and completely redesigned UAF ships. If you mean the 4 Large Minirest Missile Launchers, these are fixed to the ship according to this version. If you inspect the video by [channel name] "Rarr" then his UAF version is even older. In that version, Purcellyra has fully customizable Large Missile Mounts. Technically, you are correct.

Lmao, I totally understand that. Unfortunately, she is not very flexible nowadays. After a ton of experimenting, this is the best I could come up with, however, benefits greatly from officer like seen here.
