I real appreciate your work here in this video and on your book. I will give your book a try. Appreciate it.
Stephen, I'm so grateful for these recent videos from you! Well-done! You do well with this video medium. Hoping your continue to develop videos around Barthian content. Thanks again. :)
Thanks for watching, Justin, and for your kind words!
Much appreciated. It's time to dive into church dogmatic.
Excellent video Stephen! Thanks 👍 I’m currently reading through some of The Doctrine of God II.1. Some incredible stuff for sure!
Thanks, Jordan! Happy reading! II/1 is one of my favorite volumes.
Excellent stuff! Thank you. I didn't hear you mention the new Wiley-Blackwell Companion. Any thoughts on that?
Hi Dan, thanks for watching! I haven't read it yet, but from what I've seen, it seems like a helpful collection. I trust George Hunsinger as the editor so I'm sure it's well done. The price tag is hard to stomach and for scholars, it may be worth it, but for beginners to Barth is might be a bit much! So just depends on your interest in his work.
did he write anything on escatology?
Early on, yes. But he did not live to finish volume five of Church Dogmatics, which would have been his most complete work on eschatology. Romans and especially the Göttingen Dogmatics offer an early focus on eschatology. There are also some eschatological sections in CD that might give us a clue into what he might have written. The Postbarthian did a blog on these: postbarthian.com/2016/12/05/four-eschatological-paragraphs-karl-barths-church-dogmatics/.
