I still have a working 8 track player and the 8 track of Steve Miller's Greatest Hits and it still works too. Been listening to him since I was a small child in the 70's
Fun reaction and I hadn't heard this song in quite a while and I forgot how much I loved it. I mostly like it musically, he could be singing just about any lyrics over it and I would still feel good and loved it and kind of want to bounce my leg to it. I'm a guitar player myself and I love that kind of guitar playing and of course the drummer and bass really kick it. As far as the story, what's so cool about it is it's so casual and offhand, like you just mentioning it to a buddy for a minute while you're at the grocery store. And it's not like this couple are gangsters, they just sit around the couch bored watching TV and getting high and one day the decide to go do something in that is what they do. It's also casual. But it's not a happy ending necessarily for them. They get away which you find yourself kind of rooting for oh, but they are still running today. Meaning they can't kick back and chill, they have to always be looking over their shoulders.
Oh yeah, he used to play in the downtown park here in Lawrence Kansas in the seventies on a regular basis from what I hear. I missed it by about eight years.
My favorite Steve Miller song! Space Cowboy, Jet Airliner, Sugar Babe, Fly Like An Eagle, and Rock'n Me are some other good ones. I remember when these were new... They had a little bit different sound...always loved the drums and the guitars. They still sound pretty good!
Asia is so perceptive about songwriting. Amazing how they pack so much into a three minute song. Anybody that loves pop music is always looking for that little bitty MASTERPIECE. Gotta love how SMALL a space they pack it into.
I have never seen a reaction to "Jet Airliner" by Steve Miller Band by any channel I watch. It was a big hit when I was in High School. Maybe sometime you guys could react to it. Thanks
Steve Miller and Bozz Skaggs went to high school together in Dallas and had a band together during the high school days. If you have not checked Bozz Skaggs you should but wow that's a lot of talent in one high school.
Used to be a favorite song of mine when I was little! Always clapped along. BTW Steve Miller came and played on my cousin's college campus in the early 2000s and she sold him some MJ. She had no idea who he was till she relayed the story to her dad 😂
Oh WOW! Thanks Asia & BJ for the ❤️.. completely unexpected but very much appreciated! I only discovered y'all's channel a couple months ago and after only 2 videos I subscribed. I was already suscribed to a couple other music reaction channels yet y'all's channel has quickly become the one I watch every new video. I especially enjoy how y'all really feel the songs that you react to ( instead of just generic comments) and Asia sometimes your facial expressions crack me up and I always enjoy much BJ gets down to the music 🎶🤣 just wanted to let you also know that your ❤️ is right up there with the one I got from Chynna Phillips ( of Wilson Phillips maybe react to them sometime) she's also the daughter of Michelle and John Phillips who were in the Mama's and the Papa's ( great group for a reaction also) meaning that to me at least y'all are becoming somewhat of music royality in my mind. Also, another request my dad's cousin named Spooner Oldham is in the RNR Hall of fame. He's an amazing piano player and organist. He was a session musician and recorded with the best including Aretha Franklin, Crosby Stills Nash and Young and others. He is the one playing the keys on Aretha's Natural Woman. He had his own little hit in the 60s called Your Puppet. He was asked to record with the band The Drive by Truckers in 2007 even though he's much older than the members of the band because of his reputation of being a great player and awesome guy ( he invited me to one of their concerts and let me hang out with them backstage and after the show ( and paid for all my drinks 😅) there's so many artists he has recorded with for future reactions. Everything from early RNR, southern Rock, soul, and country. Anyway, much love and appreciation for y'all!!
You know it's funny because you noticed that clapping in there? Every time they mentioned you know of the great state of Texas there's that one song that goes the stars are bright they shine at night clap clap clap clap deep in the Heart of Texas
There are two famous "dead space" moments in rock lyrics. One is "The heat was hot" from America's "Horse with No Name". The other is in this song: "They got the money, hey, you know they got away." Killer song anyway, but that lyric still makes me laugh all these years later. :)
To hear an amazing song with an amazing story you got to do the Beastie Boys ‘High Plains Drifter’. Many say it’s the follow up to ‘Paul Revere’ which you’ve already reacted to.
The Raconteurs have an amazing story song, "Carolina Drama". They're a current band of Jack Whites', even though he's about to put out two albums solo albums very soon & tour this summer. The Raconteurs have two singers & dual guitarists, my favorite band of Jack's. They usually encore with "Carolina Drama", so good.
I saw Steve Miller at Angel Stadium in 1977. There were 7 bands but the only other one I can remember is Lynyrd Skynyrd. I remember them because Steve Miller had the upper decks bouncing to the music with a lot of movement and i was wondering if they would collapse. But of course it is in earthquake country and built to withstand the shaking. Unfortunately the reason i remember Lynyrd Skynyrd is because of the plane crash a few weeks later. (Swingtown)
Used to listen to this on..... An 8 track! 😂 But, to be fair, it was in quadrophonic stereo. (Look it up. It was awesome!) The only bad was the occasional interruption when it changed tracks, sometimes in the middle of a song... 😡
You're EXACTLY right!!! Myself, I bought every medium of their Greatest Hits, 8 Track, Vinyl, Cassette, CD and now digital download. But, those 8 Tracks IRRITATED me to no end!!! IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SONG!!! Sheesh...
Guess one have to keep running after a thing like that?! I like songs with a story too. Think you would like Warren Zevons " Jessie James". Well, thats Some Story!... Big hugs and greetings from Jonas, Gothenburg, Sweden.
Try watching "The Getaway" starring Steve McQueen and Ali McGraw. It came out in 1972 or 1973. You might think that this movie was the inspiration for this song in particular... great movie. Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger did a remake of it in the 90s... total suck version compared to the original... total waste of time.
My young self was able to understand this nice little tale of murder and theft just fine. I have this on 45. The price sticker is still on it. That's what makes me sad, not the song. $.69. You can't even get a candy bar for that now...lol.
BJ, if you like story songs, you'll love Ridley Bent's Suicidewinder. I can virtually guarantee that you'd enjoy the chorus. The version off the album is best but, if not that, there's a nice acoustic version with two guitars. Great story, well told. I'm not sure what happened to the original video with all the views, but this is another upload of the same song and album. ua-cam.com/video/21vCq0c-Sao/v-deo.html
I think it’s “hoo hoo” not “woo woo”. 😉 Saw him live at Jones Beach when I was around 14 or 15 in 94’ or ‘95. Such a great show. He sounded amazing. Everyone smoking weed and just chilling!!
Another fav is Fly like an Eagle. You two are bringing back songs I haven't heard in years. Thanks again, for letting the younger crowd listen to what we were enjoying. Continue having fun in your reactions.
I saw Steve Miller in 1995 and every song in his set was a big hit. Opening act was the Doobie Brothers. Was a great show...
Saw him just 2 years ago with Peter Frampton. Same result. They were both awesome.
Had to be an EPIC show!
95 huh?
Lol,so recently.
I saw him in 90' with Santana and ZZTop... They all sounded great...!
@@sammyholloway334 Let us old farts relish in our glory days. Lord knows we have enough regret to offset the balance. 😁
Steve Miller Band "Greatest Hits 1974-78" is just full of fire...
Back in the years I was overseas on the USS Ranger!!!! 74-78! Loved y'alls reaction as always!!! Peace
♥ Great band, song, and reaction! There's so many great Steve Miller songs. I suggest Jet Airliner!
Heck yea
I agree on the Jet Liner request but please react to the long version!!
I still have a working 8 track player and the 8 track of Steve Miller's Greatest Hits and it still works too. Been listening to him since I was a small child in the 70's
Steve Miller 'Jet Airliner'...long version!! Great song!!
A friend of mine had to talk me into going to see Steve Miller, and wow! I really had to thank him for convincing me. What a great show. ✌🏼😎
That's one great thing about the 70's music, it was all about the storytelling
Wife here...Literally have heard this song all my life..(never gets old)..!...Saw him in 95 or 96 Charlotte NC..Amazing show!

You can't go wrong with this cd. Every song is great. This was my friends wedding song years ago. Such a fun story 🎵 🎶
The vinyl record is better!!!
Great reaction---I'm so glad you enjoyed this!! 💕
So many awesome 70's tunes. Not bad in the 80's, but his 70's stuff is a huge cut above.
Baby’s Callin Me Home, 1968
Steve opened my first Grateful Dead show, 6/6/92, Buffalo.
Love Steve Miller. Do " Jungle Love" u'll love it. ♥️💯😎
We all need some Steve Miller Band in our lives. "Rock N' Me" is one of my favorites from them.
Asia is so perceptive about songwriting. Amazing how they pack so much into a three minute song. Anybody that loves pop music is always looking for that little bitty MASTERPIECE. Gotta love how SMALL a space they pack it into.
Love me some Steve Miller Band. Another song you may like is "Mercury Blues", a nice little tune. Hope you enjoy it.
I have never seen a reaction to "Jet Airliner" by Steve Miller Band by any channel I watch. It was a big hit when I was in High School. Maybe sometime you guys could react to it. Thanks
Great pick! ✈ 🥰❤
Miller was awesome in my teen years in the 70's. Couldn't wait for his albums to come out. This was one of his best!
Great song saw them in the mid 90s, the Doobie Brothers opened for them! Great great band!
I'd love to see you react to "Jungle Love"!
Steve Miller and Bozz Skaggs went to high school together in Dallas and had a band together during the high school days. If you have not checked Bozz Skaggs you should but wow that's a lot of talent in one high school.
The beginning drum part was sampled by rapper too short for his song paula and janet

Love this song! Used to sing it as a kid all the time
Thanks so much for bringing me back to High School.😊
"The Stake" is a really good one....! "Jungle Love" Too..!
Funny on their song Jet Airliner…I always thought they said Jet. Carolina …for years until I saw the title in my radio🤣🤣🤣
Love this! Fun tune, great reaction!
One of their best. I think there was a movie ce out after the song but I don't believe it was called Billie Joe and Bobby Sue.
Fun fact: Steve Miller, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Meatloaf all grew up in Dallas around the same time
Good lyrics, Great music.
Great band!!!
One of the most famous drum solo intros to a rock song.
Gary Mallaber is awesome.
Great song and Steve Miller's song title offers good advice😂
You two are on a roll. How about these 3 Steve Miller classics.
ABRACADABRA,
JUNGLE LOVE,
LIVING IN THE U.S.A.

Can't go wrong with Steve Miller Band!

Very proud of the fact Steve Miller was from my home town Milwaukee Wisconsin😊
An old favorite. Nice
Steve Miller 😊🤘✌️
You guys gotta watch the video! Bro. Warren Beaty and Faye Dunaway! It’s NUTS. Love.
Such a fun tune from this legendary band!
BJ you hit on the head a story that makes you visualize it 👍
Jungle Love and Jet Airliner are the next two Steve Miller Band tracks you should react to.
swingtown.
My favorites are Dance,Dance,Dance. Singtown. True Fine Love❤️

Steve Miller, another great song wild mountain honey. Or swing town
To hear an amazing song with an amazing story you got to do the Beastie Boys ‘High Plains Drifter’. Many say it’s the follow up to ‘Paul Revere’ which you’ve already reacted to.
Check out the Steve Miller song "Jungle Love" a good 70's rocker.

Ok Asia & BJ. You are really the best reaction couple. Love ❤️ you both!

This version feels chopped short, there was another chorus after the guitar solo.
Definitely. The ending was cut short.

You’re missing it by not watching/listening to Stevie Guitar Miller play live. Living In The USA live in early years is a prime example
You should check out "Living in the USA".
In the 70,s there was a movie called Take the money and run. The theatre was robbed and they took the... well you know.
They cut this song short, but you get the gist.
Someone has to make a movie of this, has to be one

They cut off the whole last part of the song!!!!
Is it wrong that I jammed out on a song about thieving, murderous teenagers? Guess I'm gonna have to live with myself. LOL.
Then I guess we'll all go to hell...lol.
Haven't seen the reaction yet, my prediction BJ goes adolescent gangster, and Asia goes half hearted responsible Mom.
Good reaction and not your fault but, Ooof! That's a badly encoded copy. It sounds like the first MP3s... full of what I call "metallic warble".
Doesn’t anyone care about private property rights and the guy getting shot 😂
