ngl i was super confused in my pacifist run as to how you were supposed to spare her. it took like 20 minutes of seeing her say "FIGHT OR RUN AWAY!!!" until i said fuck it and looked it up.
Asgore was a wall for me because the friend who recommended Undertale to me said I can go through the entire game and get the best ending without ever using the [FIGHT] command...
At undyne when she said “Face my attacks *head on”* I thought it meant “oh ok so I should purposely hit the bullets” so I just kept doing it until she explicitly told me to block the arrows... I faced the bullets head on but my head was anything but during that fight.

It's so weird seeing all this stuff... as a veteran of both the NES and SNES Punch Out!! games, my instinct took over the instant the fight started. I was even holding up to punch at her face just like in the old games lol, even though that's not required here.
Hold up to block or high punch, alternating left and right punches, trying to intercept her attacks, and using side dodges on attacks you think beat ducking like her kicks. I did all of these. Turns out you can just spam one punch button and duck every attack that isn't the baseballs. This version's a lot simpler (probably since it's just one moment in a normally bullet hell RPG).

actually, if you try to spare someone when their name isn't yellow, you get a wee bit of mercy meter i want to see someone do a "toriel%" where you can only spare by spamming spare

i didn't even pay attention to the fight button, literally didn't even consider it an option up until now, i exclusively used the act button, and i've played this game four times already T_T all the playthroughs were regular ones too i had so many chances
The reminder actually happens if you don't do anything during the first 'counter' phase (after the first attack) Toby does this to make sure players remember how to fight Punch-Out!! style. (That's what the arcade game was for, too!)

Always move in the same direction as the projectile you're currently most likely to be hit by so you have more time to plan your dodge before it reaches you, always move closer to things you are trying to aim at, heal whenever possible; damage can wait. And above all? Just don't get hit.
you know if there isn't a way to do that in normal gameplay, there isn't going to he any different ending or extra dialog if you hack it in. Toby isn't going to make extra content nobody will see.

When Mercy has an X on it Sparing is impossible thankfully this fight won't count as not being pacifist. You just have to fight sometimes you mainly spare enemies to bring them back to castle town or to try to beat enemies without leaving a scratch on them.
That’s essentially the point of _deltarune._ After the wide-spreading tree of player choices that was _UNDERTALE,_ this game presents a similar tree… and abruptly chops off some of the branches.
It's a shame that nothing happens during the arcade sequence that proceeds this either. If you don't attack it just ends in a DRAW and it starts over again. No one even drops a "Nice..." if you beat queen with 69 seconds left on the clock...
this part is literally a parallel to the starting minigame, where you only fight. besides, there aren't any "pacifist" ACTs, so that should be enough to tip you off
" Now Is Time To Fight ( Only ) " - ACTs are all about FIGHTING - MERCY is crossed - In this game if you DEFEND more than twice in a fight it means you're losing turns - In UNDERTALE, you can't kill in pacifist-exclusive fights - In DELTARUNE chapter 1, your actions during the final battle change nothing - You're Literally In A Giant Freaking Robot Fight And You Try To Have Mercy - sorry.

you cant. You literally cant kill him, his HP is hardcoded to reset to 6% even if it goes negative. Snowgrave doesn't actually do damage, it's just a cinematic with some numbers.
@@GL_099 Snowgrave is capable of killing. In an oversight that was patched out, it's revealed to be a real spell. It turns enemies into deep red determination. But yeah, Noelles most powerful spell is Cutscene Jutsu
