Amazing footage as always. And your soundtrack selections always make me smile. Not up on Railworks, nor anything of the Surfliner, but always enjoy your great reviews of everything!
I am gratefull RSC finaly added the abbility to quill the horn, but the transition from quill to high is a bit rough. And I have noticed a terain flaw where it looks like they slapped a tunnel decal off to the side of the tracks...
I do love the route, but I'd puffer the 2.0 route made by J's TS Workshop, which has more detail and has got the Scale rail by 3D Trains. The Surfliners are actually 6 cars long with a Superliner in place behind the cabcar. Railworks did include engines with no crews in, but that, you would have to make your own consist.
And If At The Railyard did a review of it, I'm sure that He will give a Seal of approval with a Final Score of 100% in a Platinum certification just like The Surfliner 2 Route for MSTS IMO.
Railworks, Train Simulator...SAME THING!!! I mean, really. Do you honestly believe you can fool us with over exaggerated graphics? I'm sorry RSC, but until you improve your products, I'm afraid you just lost a customer...FOR GOOD!!! >:(
Guys at RSC, you have really improved in the past few years! I think that calling your sim Train Simulator and bringing back to life all the old MSTS routes is very good, I mean: you are getting closer to the MSTS experience (may I say even better?). One thing that I feel it lacks is the "systems accuracy": I mean working TPWS, better signalling, better dispatching, train computers, more realistic DSD vigilance... I think many people would like these to be a tad more realistic, especially we ole MSTS lads ;) (not saying that MSTS was good at this)
Why on earth did they change the name anyways? I mean, come on. Train Simulator 2014? Yeah, that's very original. **rolls eyes** Seems fitting as UIG Entertainment, who is possibly one of the worst (if not THE worst) sim game developer on earth, also has a habit of taking everyday things and occupations and just slapping "Simulator 20xx" at the end.
I find it humorous how DTG has the nerve to chastise ATYR about how he calls "Train Simulator" but do not take note of the flaws regarding the route. Great job, Dovefail!
You should give the way RSC uses the capabilites of RW more credit. If there's anything RW exceeds MSTS/OR at for sure, it's weather effects and textures, and this route seems to do a good job of using both to their maximum potential. Given the train wreck (no pun intended) that RSC's Donner Pass was, I think we should be grateful there wasn't a repeat of that this time: I'd hate to see another legendary route depicted in as flawed a manner as Donner. Surfliner's a good step forward in quality from Donner and seems to show RSC's development staff has gotten back on their feet.
Good review as always! However, I'm surprised you don't mention the cost of these routes in your reviews... At DOUBLE the price of the core game these routes seem EXTREMELY pricey!
I personally think this version looks better than the MSTS version. While the MSTS version is more accurate, I prefer the smoother look of Railworks compared to MSTS.
Speaking of Amtrak, are you going to review the Amtrak and SD40-2 packs for Run 8 as well as the Needles sub? I noticed there's been several updates to the sim since you reviewed it. Thanks!
I also don't like that they use default railroad crossing signals, and the signals on single track all have one head. I thought the signal before you reach a siding should have two heads so you know you're diverging before reaching the signals where the siding is.
Nice reveiw could you do the stevans pass route also you can press the l key to turn on cab lights and in donner pass it turns the siren on the top sd40 and sd40t. Could you reveiw the f40ph add on for donner pass
When you said, "The Headlights Turn When Running Forward" That is the red mars lights turned on, and that is Prototypical Operation on Amtrak California services, including the Pacific Surfliner. However the rear ditch lights seemed to be on, which is not prototypical.
As Much I enjoy this Route for Railworks Despite The Cons that you point out in your review, I heard That Someone on UA-cam is Working on The Scenery Upgrade for This Route for Train Simulator 2017.
I don't get comments like this. I have both RUN8 and RW TS2015 and I play RW TS2015 so much more. Yes I only bought the "Run8 BNSF Mojave Sub" which is a small part of the game but RW TS lets you build your own routes and download free customs routes made by other players and also you can make your own scenarios and download others made by other players. Tons of DLC routes and locos, whether steam, diesel and electric plus routes. Yes the DLC is pricey but that's a minor set back if your poor or don't have a job and if you have patients STEAM puts the DLC on sale for more than 50% off time to time. I've played RUN8 and yes the game is a lot more detailed with the train starting and brakes test...etc but the graphics are not up to snuff for me and I don't like the rail road track skin, not all the tracks or if any in the Mojave pass for example are single cut cement ties like all the tracks are in RUN8. The only thing I enjoy but again barely play is the multilayer. Also I use the Rail driver cab controller for both and work fine.
I have Run 8 and don't use it anymore. Boring. You can only take so much desert, and no other trains unless you are on multiplayer, and even then you may never see another train.
TheReIntegration I spent alot of money on Run 8, and might as well have thrown it out the window. After you learn how to run the Run 8 trains, it is the most boring sim I have ever tried, and I have been running sims for decades. No scenery, no AI traffic, multiplayer is a disaster, since you may be the only one running most of the time. You go for miles and see nothing but sand and some little bushes.... LOL...
***** I feel the same way. I was excited for Run 8 at first, but it got old very quick even by simulation game standards. I might take another look at it if they implement single player with AI trains, AI dispatchers, etc. but until then I'm keeping myself busy with TS2015.
You can, in fact, hear the horn from inside the passenger car. Coming from a person who rides on these cars frequently. also How do you Quail the horn?
I would like to point out that the san Juan Station does not look like it does in RW. It is all historic around it and it looks like we have commercial buildings near everything. :P It was not a good idea for RSC to make a route without actually going to it and looking at it personally.
Wow, you have ever the right Music for your wonderful Reviews, thanks for your hard Work, i know what for a Work this is. Please can you say me what a Version the Song is from Ventures - Walk, dont run, then i can not found it. Is that a Remix? thx
I wonder, will At the Railyard do a review of the "Metrolink" and "Coaster" sets? they aren't labeled Metrolink and Coaster...which makes me annoyed, but they can't due to licensing. I hope that 3rd party developers add repaints to include the "Coaster" and "Metrolink" names on the sides.
Train handling is the thing that kills Railworks, as long as Run 8 is around they have to step up there game, none of my money will be spent on Railworks.
Lower your contrast...The colors in your video look washed out..The route looks better than this..As for the train itself the only major bad thing about it is the brakes that need to get fixed and you didn't mention....Now I don't believe that the horn that don't trigger the bell is a problem to mention nor the blue color of the locomotive......
This almost makes we wan't to unsub from you. That route was despicable, and you give it an 89%? Not only did they sell the ES44DC for an extra $20 whole dollars, but literally the physics to every train and loco in this DLC is broken. BROKEN. A minimum set (6-8 psi reduction) literally halts the train like an E-Stop. The route's incorrect signalling and terrible AI makes it unplayable sometimes. The ocean is literally a pond in the game. You can see the shore on the other side... Not to mention those sounds are absolutely horrendous.
the second song is great and what a route
i was waiting for u to make this
Good analysis of the route, Great video!
Another breathtakingly professional review. Your choice of music simply cannot be improved upon. Well done! ~ Fred

AmtrakHan6903 The Scale Rail is a more realistic rail made for Train Sim by 3D Trains, a 3rd party developer.
Excellent production and review!
We love your videos reviews but Train Simulator has not been called Railworks for about two years now.
Railworks, Train Simulator...SAME THING!!! I mean, really. Do you honestly believe you can fool us with over exaggerated graphics? I'm sorry RSC, but until you improve your products, I'm afraid you just lost a customer...FOR GOOD!!! >:(

The name doesn't really matter to me TBH. I prefer a realistic simulator over a good name :)
Why on earth did they change the name anyways? I mean, come on. Train Simulator 2014? Nice Production! Very well done, Sir!
Thank you for the great review. I'm DL it now.
Great review. Keep up the good work.
Nice 100th Video! Keep up the good work!

Alright this video turned awesome when Chris Issac's Wicked game started!! Nice! Will Sub!
Good review as always! However, I'm surprised you don't mention the cost of these routes in your reviews... At DOUBLE the price of the core game these routes seem EXTREMELY pricey!
Agreed! Very overpriced...
Very nice video loved all your videos Well done Hope u continue this Rhytm!!! thanks for this lovely video
Well done as usual. Thanks
I personally think this version looks better than the MSTS version. While the MSTS version is more accurate, I prefer the smoother look of Railworks compared to MSTS.
Same here

They are also making another DLC, I think metrolink.
they are making coaster. Metrolink is to confusing with their new cars. a whole bunch of mixed sets.
I saw a post on Facebook but couldn't remember.
As Much I enjoy this Route for Railworks Despite The Cons that you point out in your review, I heard That Someone on UA-cam is Working on The Scenery Upgrade for This Route for Train Simulator 2017.
+TommyPickles Fan1992 (TommyPicklesfan1992) when are they going to release those im so ready for it
Sometime in 2017, I think.
Nice!TommyPickles Fan1992
+TommyPickles Fan1992 (TommyPicklesfan1992) Why Do You Overuse Caps?
i think this route would be better in run 8 train simulator
EVERY route RSC/DTG has done would be better in Run 8. lol

Will you be reviewing some more British DLC?
awesome, thank you.
Wen will you be doing Pan Am Railway Portland, Maine Rigby Yard?
For the last flaw, make sure when you train sets to choose the nd for no driver
3:14 I love this music!
You can, in fact, hear the horn from inside the passenger car. Coming from a person who rides on these cars frequently. also How do you Quail the horn?
By Pressing N
Trent Lewis pressing N doesn't work on the cabcar but it works on the f59
I would like to point out that the san Juan Station does not look like it does in RW. It is all historic around it and it looks like we have commercial buildings near everything. :P It was not a good idea for RSC to make a route without actually going to it and looking at it personally.
I have the Surfliner2 route for MSTS and OR. you should check it out if you have MSTS it works with both.
ok
wait. THERES GONNA BE A SURFLINER3??????
Awesome review can u review the railworks NS heritage units next
my only problem with this route is the a couple crossings cause my train to derail even on straight track.
California nickmane is the golden state
Nice review! always looking forward to see your updates ↖(^ω^)↗
wondering if RSC going to make California High speed line
It would have to built first which is unlikely at all.
Thomas, press the 'N' key.
To quill the horn? Thats cool.
How do you get the Amtrak p42 pack its not on the steam store
ok I got one Question how do u Quill the horn
Wow, you have ever the right Music for your wonderful Reviews, thanks for your hard Work, i know what for a Work this is. Please can you say me what a Version the Song is from Ventures - Walk, dont run, then i can not found it. Is that a Remix? thx

There are repaints for the coaster and Metrolink on TheLocoShop included in their Metro Pack.
+Amtrak and AWVR Fan TheLocoShop is working The Metro Pack 2 which it will be out in the few weeks.
TommyPickles Fan1992
Where did you get that it will be out in a few weeks?
I think TheLocoShop told me that The Metro Pack 2 will come out when its done and ready because there is no eta at this time.
its already out on STEAM Check for it there
Train handling is the thing that kills Railworks, as long as Run 8 is around they have to step up there game, none of my money will be spent on Railworks.
Could u review the canadian mountain passes Please?
Thank you!
Any chance of a review of the new "Stevens Pass" TS 2014 module set in Washington?
I got it for free

You said it! Graphics is all that this game will ever be good for...PERIOD! I'll stick with my Trainz simulator, thank you!
So, everyone hates RW but me... Ok...
how do you quill the horn?
Press 'N'
