Chose another play if you are going to change a Pulitzer prize winner. The song makes 'light' of what is true in life. Nothing 'dirty' about that. The actress/singer did well with what she had to work with. Lovely voice.
I love this even tho I'm disappointed my favorite part was taken out of it (the one that said "shake your new maracas and you're fiiiine"; i sing that part all the time tbh) i started crying when it was taken out honestly. Btw she did amazing!!
There is an officially licensed "High School Version" so if people are disappointed the "dirty" parts are edited, you have to complain to the licensors.
Chorus Line is just one of those shows you don’t change. I mean it’s a Pulitzer Prize winning musical. I’m in the show right now and i’m 14. We didn’t change a thing and everyone who saw it told me they loved. The show of course is very mature especially Val’s part but it’s also a statement about how looks vs talent is taken into consideration for women in the entertainment business. It also shows how confident and proud of her body Val is by being able to sing a whole song about her “tits and ass” Changing the lyrics takes away from the value of the statement. Also on a completely different note I realized that Richie is not black and wearing a completely different costume. I understand some theater companies don’t have the diversity but if you don’t have the cast simply don’t do the show. Part of what makes A Chorus Line so great is the diversity among the different characters and Richie is one of the best examples of that in the show. There’s so many shows that you can do instead.
I was like “how do turn this song into a clean version?”

I definitely think the meaning of the song was almost killed... but you gotta admit, this girl absolutely kills it for what she's got.

it was a high school production, so don’t worry 17 year old me hated this version too but had 0 choice
She is so cute!
They just took the parts of the song that didn't have any bad words, but now it doesn't make any sense anymore
They should have done a clean version of Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm--I mean censored!
I'm directing this show twice over the next 7 weeks in California. We are also doing this version. She's excellent!
I saw this. She did awesome!
is this the high school version of the show?
Yeah, and an incredibly edited version of the song, sadly. The show itself is a mature one, so they did what they could.
This is not a show to put on in High School!!! They destroyed the song!!!
that’s exactly what i thought when i was singing it at 17 homie
