Hinterland is a shining beacon in game development and an example for other devs to follow. Not only do we get new content regularly but its QUALITY content and new regions are always welcome. They actually listen to the community, "oh you liked Darkstalker? Ok, have it permanently". I know they will never get the recognition of Ubisoft or EA but Hinterland please know that your fans see what you do and this kind of relationship forms a lot of trust with your playerbase. Even the narrator of the video comes across as heartfelt and sincere. Bravo.

I just took a stroll through here in pilgrim to test the new items, but instead of that I got a wonderfully pensive experience of quietly trekking and climbing through the most beautiful region I had ever seen. I saw almost no wildlife -aggressive or not- and there was enough sticks for warmth and cattails for food. I still haven't reached the mine, but I think i'm figuring it out. I just realized why people actually play pilgrim, and I love it. Normally i'm struggling for voyager survival in even mystery lake, but I can tell this will probably be my favorite region in the long run. I got an aroura one night as a bonus!

And I'm happy that TLD haven't turned into stupid and trendy like others. Im happy. Taking my coffee watching the snow outside in winter and playing The Long Dark. I don't care about media.

I agree it's a good game. I enjoy it but I totally get why there is thumbs down too. For me the story mode isn't working and can't get some of the achievements since they're broken. 🤷♀️ I love new content but they should also try to fix the issues.

You don't need to! Whenever there's an update to survival, your world adapts to it. That's how I managed to keep my save and then go to bleak inlet without starting anew! Hope this helps :)

I remember years ago, when I played this game in alpha... I was so young. In my 8th run on Stalker, the hardest mode at the time, I ended up surviving for 104 days... I travelled through Mystery Lake, Coastal Highway, slowly improvising and adapting to the rhythms of the new world... give the wolves a wide berth, NEVER carry raw meat if you can cook it, wait for the deer to stop and look around, before you fire the arrow... I felt like I was a part of the ecosystem, now. I was determined to get to Desolation point, and from there, the ultimate challenge... Timberwolf Mountain. I forged on, and on, repairing, fishing, creating, questing... until on the hundred-and-fourth day, I was attacked by a pair of wolves, making my way through Old Island Connector, and just like that... it was over. It was so... anticlimactic, like my story wasn't supposed to finish there, but the world just didn't care. That was just what happened, and now it was over. It felt so real. Too real. I tried starting again... and it felt wrong. I felt as if I wasn't supposed to be there... because I had died. I was suddenly transported, and expected to start over in a new body, in a new place, and I thought "No... this isn't me. I'm dead." Everything that I had, everythin I knew, everything I was... he died of shock and blood loss, screaming and clutching his bleeding neck, between a rock wall and a snow-covered abandoned car, on that old, broken highway. I took almost a year off playing, after that. No game had ever made me feel like that before. I don't know if another one ever will. What I do know is that this game is a triumph. Thank you, Hinterland.
Great move on the Darkwalker challenge. My only "complaint" with it was that there was no win condition, so after I did it once I had no reason to try again. This is fantastic!
How is this amazing game still being developed, i played this since the very early versions and cant believe it is still being updated. I wish more games had such dedicated developers.

@@jackstone112 I see. Until now I have made the mistake to use very detailed maps and then simply visiting every loot location. Now that I thought about it I regret that. Unfortunately I know now most of all maps but from now on I will play without. I can imagine that it is way more fun that way. Luckely there are new regions added now and then so I guess from this time on I will navigate on the stars ;)

@@gamma3563 well there are several reasons, its relaxing cuz normally I play lots of high intensity games that require alot of focus. This game I can relax, listhen to a podcast, or just the game sounds, and just surviving as the goal I don't mind until veeeery late game in a save. When you explored all areas and found all items and all that is left is animals to hunt, that is when it can get boring .
The Long Dark helped me cope with anxiety and depression, it's not just another part of the map for me, it's another part of healing and exploring ♡ thanks hinterland
@@franz6859 that bridge is scary, but it's because there's a very narrow pathway, but said pathway is stationary. This bridges look like they're gonna be moving to and fro and are very narrow, and THAT, is big NOPE from me.

Dude the devs are dead, they won't reply anymore. I think they have dissolved the hinterland company. It's pointless to ask for more features at this point, they've been silent for most of the year. Btw modders got you covered, you can have a fox companion.

Rule of thumb should be don’t make an “official” discord server for your game unless held at gunpoint...I love the app for chatting but public servers are sooo not worth dealing with especially when the game already has its own forum.
Does this include bugs fixed like weird hit box of item where you need place cursor on the edge to pick it up, or invincible wall at cockpit at Pleasant Valley? In my current sandbox, there is a fotograph in cockpit area but i cant reach it. Well kinda annoying but at the same time not really important too. Thanks for the new region btw, im just finished gathering all resources at Timberwolf Mountain(stalker mode) and im guess i need to go up there again haha
It would be cool to see if they could change up Bucks. Have to where bucks, when they run, can trample you and cause damage but always run in a random direction like they do now. And then have female deer who will always run no matter what. Plus, I totally think grizzly bears are gonna come eventually
I really appreciate the fact that The Long Dark is a completed game and doesn’t NEED more updates, but Hinterland continues to release new content for us and it’s always well thought out. They’re not just adding things for the sake of adding them; they speak to the players and see what they want. Plus add a couple surprises in the mix. I didn’t start playing until recently (when it came to the Switch) but I definitely can say this is one of my favorite games ever.
I played a lot games. I played really ALOT GAMES. But everything is getting boring after s few Weeks. I was searching for this ONE GAME that make my gamer heart happy like the big love for gamer. It's sad that you guys take this long to roll out meaningful updates, and when you do, even then it's not meaningful most of the time. The game is REALLY stagnated, it needs something new and fresh, and it's not just some challenge maps and couple of minor updates. I've seen and experienced it all and I really miss this game, I want to redownload it but I just really see no reason, as over the time it really stagnated and just got old... They need to add new stuff, and when I say new, I mean really new. Maybe add seasons, maybe some overhaul to graphics, there are a lot of ways they can go, maybe a next gen update? Maybe update the engine? Hell, maybe even release TLD 2 or something like that. Because at this point, it's like "sure, this was really cool, but I just don't see any valid reason to play it anymore.. It looks and plays outdated...." I hope you'll come up with something.
When I first heard of it I wanted a pair of binoculars and a compass, but I think the compass won’t be that useful but the binoculars could still be cool. But the new clothes you suggested would be cool, I’d like another thing that you could craft with wolf skins.
@@nathancrego9271 If you don't mind of modding your game there is a mod that ad binoculars. But please if you use it don't send any bug report to Hinterland. And there is also several with new clothes (wolf hat, deer coat, ski mask, ski glasses, construction helmet).
@@maurice1980 Yes, there is some mod that have been updated to the new version but not all. You probably need to downgrade to 1.56 or to wait until the updated version is released (modding for 1.83 is very new so not all mod are updated yet).
There is two list for mods : one for 1.56 and one for 1.83. I hope that Hinterland will released their promised mod support soon to facilitate modders work.

Good good work guys! The Long Dark is unique in its style and I always loved eveything about it. It is best survival game out there! The only thing missing to this game to make it a lifetime classic would be to be able to move furniture around and beeing able to move all objects in the game. It would be SO awesome to be able to remove the trash from our cabins and customize our rooms to our taste and play style. Again, great work and enjoy the holidays !
I agree. I can genuinely say this is the best purchase I ever made on Steam. I've played over 1,000 hours over the years of this brilliant game for the equivalent of 10 bucks and they keep adding amazing content. Simply outstanding.
I highly doubt this’ll ever be added but I think a good feature for the game would be some small base building. Considering how a lot of the areas in the game are fairly flat and open, constructing a small camp would be a fairly good idea. Maybe you need, say, 20-40 sticks to build a tent, along with the cost of some cloth. The tent will act like an indoor area, but it will still be fairly cold. Thoughts?

Hinterland, from someone who has been playing the long dark for almost 2 years now, thank you for spoiling me and the rest of the community with content! One challenge I love with this update is there is a few areas of Ash Canyon where there are bear crossings that you have to go through. I get chills and thrills every time I go through them! Can't wait to see what is to come in the future! Keep up the amazing work!

I want you to add something to The Long Dark. So in the survival mode we have to draw the map. But what if you can add a option in custom survival to begin with a map so it can be more easy for the people (like me) to understand and explore the island.

Something that would really add to the immersion with this game is adding a full body in first person or at least gloves on the hands

@@jackstone112 I see. Until now I have made the mistake to use very detailed maps and then simply visiting every loot location. Now that I thought about it I regret that. Unfortunately I know now most of all maps but from now on I will play without. I can imagine that it is way more fun that way. Luckely there are new regions added now and then so I guess from this time on I will navigate on the stars ;)

@@gamma3563 well there are several reasons, its relaxing cuz normally I play lots of high intensity games that require alot of focus. This game I can relax, listhen to a podcast, or just the game sounds, and just surviving as the goal I don't mind until veeeery late game in a save. When you explored all areas and found all items and all that is left is animals to hunt, that is when it can get boring .
The Long Dark helped me cope with anxiety and depression, it's not just another part of the map for me, it's another part of healing and exploring ♡ thanks hinterland
The game is about loneliness and pretty creepy, so wouldn’t play it alone

@@franz6859 that bridge is scary, but it's because there's a very narrow pathway, but said pathway is stationary.
This bridges look like they're gonna be moving to and fro and are very narrow, and THAT, is big NOPE from me.

I know that they’re not gonna add foxes, because hinterland doesn’t want us killing their logo. If they do add an animal, I hope it’ll be a bird you can kill, for feathers, or a scavenger cuz that’d be a cool feature! I think they mentioned adding 2 new gear items in one of their recent dev diaries, but they didn’t say what those items’d be

Dude the devs are dead, they won't reply anymore. I think they have dissolved the hinterland company. It's pointless to ask for more features at this point, they've been silent for most of the year.
Btw modders got you covered, you can have a fox companion.

Rule of thumb should be don’t make an “official” discord server for your game unless held at gunpoint...I love the app for chatting but public servers are sooo not worth dealing with especially when the game already has its own forum.

Does this include bugs fixed like weird hit box of item where you need place cursor on the edge to pick it up, or invincible wall at cockpit at Pleasant Valley? In my current sandbox, there is a fotograph in cockpit area but i cant reach it. Well kinda annoying but at the same time not really important too.

It would be cool to see if they could change up Bucks. Have to where bucks, when they run, can trample you and cause damage but always run in a random direction like they do now. And then have female deer who will always run no matter what. Plus, I totally think grizzly bears are gonna come eventually

I really appreciate the fact that The Long Dark is a completed game and doesn’t NEED more updates, but Hinterland continues to release new content for us and it’s always well thought out. They’re not just adding things for the sake of adding them; they speak to the players and see what they want. Plus add a couple surprises in the mix. I didn’t start playing until recently (when it came to the Switch) but I definitely can say this is one of my favorite games ever.
I played a lot games. I played really ALOT GAMES. But everything is getting boring after s few Weeks. I was searching for this ONE GAME that make my gamer heart happy like the big love for gamer. And I found it I found it OMG So big Thanks to the Studio Devs I don't need continue searching the game that I want OMG I'm so happy Men so much thanks to u all that make this game so freaking cool. Stay Alive survivors
I hope the quarantine ends soon to then put more enthusiasm and content into the game, it is simply incredible.

It's sad that you guys take this long to roll out meaningful updates, and when you do, even then it's not meaningful most of the time. The game is REALLY stagnated, it needs something new and fresh, and it's not just some challenge maps and couple of minor updates. I've seen and experienced it all and I really miss this game, I want to redownload it but I just really see no reason, as over the time it really stagnated and just got old... They need to add new stuff, and when I say new, I mean really new. Maybe add seasons, maybe some overhaul to graphics, there are a lot of ways they can go, maybe a next gen update? Maybe update the engine? Hell, maybe even release TLD 2 or something like that. Because at this point, it's like "sure, this was really cool, but I just don't see any valid reason to play it anymore.. It looks and plays outdated...." I hope you'll come up with something.

When I first heard of it I wanted a pair of binoculars and a compass, but I think the compass won’t be that useful but the binoculars could still be cool. But the new clothes you suggested would be cool, I’d like another thing that you could craft with wolf skins.
@@nathancrego9271 If you don't mind of modding your game there is a mod that ad binoculars. But please if you use it don't send any bug report to Hinterland. And there is also several with new clothes (wolf hat, deer coat, ski mask, ski glasses, construction helmet).

@@maurice1980 Yes, there is some mod that have been updated to the new version but not all. You probably need to downgrade to 1.56 or to wait until the updated version is released (modding for 1.83 is very new so not all mod are updated yet).
There is two list for mods : one for 1.56 and one for 1.83.
I hope that Hinterland will released their promised mod support soon to facilitate modders work.

Good good work guys! The Long Dark is unique in its style and I always loved eveything about it. It is best survival game out there! The only thing missing to this game to make it a lifetime classic would be to be able to move furniture around and beeing able to move all objects in the game. It would be SO awesome to be able to remove the trash from our cabins and customize our rooms to our taste and play style. Again, great work and enjoy the holidays !

I highly doubt this’ll ever be added but I think a good feature for the game would be some small base building.
Considering how a lot of the areas in the game are fairly flat and open, constructing a small camp would be a fairly good idea. Maybe you need, say, 20-40 sticks to build a tent, along with the cost of some cloth. The tent will act like an indoor area, but it will still be fairly cold.

If you don't mind of modding your game there is a mod that ad the spear to be crafted in survival mod. But please if you use it don't send any bug report to Hinterland.
Hinterland, from someone who has been playing the long dark for almost 2 years now, thank you for spoiling me and the rest of the community with content! One challenge I love with this update is there is a few areas of Ash Canyon where there are bear crossings that you have to go through. I get chills and thrills every time I go through them! Can't wait to see what is to come in the future! Keep up the amazing work!

I want you to add something to The Long Dark. So in the survival mode we have to draw the map. But what if you can add a option in custom survival to begin with a map so it can be more easy for the people (like me) to understand and explore the island.
Start charting any landmarks you see if bases you set up. Makes it easier to navigate that way, so long as you know which way north is
