Hey! We just did this trip a couple weeks ago up the west coast to hawkes bay and back down. We stopped in for some maintenance at Steve's powersports and the nice lady who worked there mentioned she used to be the owner of that airbnb you guys used to stay at, she asked if we knew you and we just mentioned only by video haha. That shop was exceptional, well organized shop and he knew all the different brands of bikes. He drove to a shop that was an hour away to get some bearings for a friends kawasaki and then put them on. NFLD hospitality is amazing! Are there any areas along the trail where tents are permitted other than liscenced camp grounds? Also do you order your trail permits online before you go? Thanks for the videos.
You can camp just about anywhere you want. We tent anywhere we like as long as it's close to a beach or water because to me, that's the best place to camp. There are no trail permits required believe it or not. I'm glad you like the videos, thanks for watching.

No, I haven't gone into St. John's before I'd love to sometime, but it would mean adding an extra 2 or 3 days to our trip to do it. I've heard that people do it so it must not be in too bad of shape.
We do the trip pretty much every year but we just go with people we know already. Thanks for your interest in coming with us though. Good luck with it and thanks for watching!
I’m new to riding and I’m considering doing this trip this summer. Just curious about driving on paved roads, isn’t it illegal to drive on paved roads in Newfoundland?
I'm glad to hear you want to do the trip. The City of Corner Brook and several towns in NL allow ATV's to be driven legally on certain roads. If you go to my website I have a map you can download and I have all the roads marked through the towns that are legal. Corner Brook, Deer Lake, Port Aux Basques, Stephenville, Pasadena, and Gander all have legal roads you can drive on. www.CrossingNewfoundlandByATV.com
@@bstansford5115 Sorry, no legend. I can tell you though that the blue lines are the Railbed. The red lines are paved roads. Most of them are legal for ATV's and side by sides. The other colors don't really mean anything, they just help break up the lines.

These videos get better every year and I can't wait for them to come out. Your narrating, camera work and editing is top notch. Thank you for that!
One question: I was confused as to what happened on Day 2? You started off telling us that you went to Gander on Day3 and then went into explaining Day2 started with you getting your tire fixed, followed by meeting your group on the trails, which was followed by the drive to Gander. Not that it's overly important, I'm just curious.
Thanx for taking us along my friend!
Thanks Quaddingsous! That's a very nice comment. Day 2 was us arriving in Argentia on the Ferry and driving to Clarenville for the night. We arrived at the hotel in Clarenville at around the 14:00 mark. Day 3 we drove from Clarenville to Gander.
@@EastCoastATV . . . Ahhhhh, yes, you told us at the very beginning of the video that day 1 was the ferry day. My bad! lol
@@quaddingsous No worries, I can totally see how it could be confusing. I contemplated calling the first day on the trail Day 1.
Nice job, you’ll be working for Nat Geo in no time 😉
Ha ha thanks. Your excellent footage makes all the difference.
Drunken Sailor, ok back to the video now...
Good call, that's it! Give me your address if you want a sticker mailed out. Send it to me through my Facebook page in a private message so people don't see your address. www.Facebook.com/CrossingNewfoundlandByATV
@@EastCoastATV that's great, really looking forward to the next parts. This trip is on my bucket list. Just got into ATVing few years ago and the fella I bought the old bike from said he did this trip twice with it. Hopefully I can make a third on it! Thanks very much for sharing this great footage and all the invaluable information on your site!!!!
@@patrickflowers9140 You're welcome. I've done the trip 7 times on my machine so far, I have over 14,000 km and it's still going. I'm sure you'll get several trips out of it.
I was all gung ho to buy a quad, but watching this makes me want a SxS.
SxS are definitely convenient for a trip like this. Thanks for watching!
Next time you're in Gambo, try Gill's Grill for supper or lunch. Great food at great prices.
Thanks for the tip! I'll stop in.
love your videos its my dream to do a big trip like this but in nb ( song is (Drunken Sailer - Irish Rovers))
I heard NB has fantastic trails.
@@EastCoastATV i find its alot better in the winter time when everything is frozen and gromed cuz in the summer there is alot of trails that are close due to mud or is winter only
Drunken sailor ✌️
That's it!
What would you do with a drunken sailor
Yup, that's it!
How many KM's on the Commander now? I look forward to doing a trip like this one of these days. We may do Cape Breton of NB this summer.
It has about 14,500 km now. Cape Breton is a fun one. I hope you get to go to NL too! Thanks for watching.
what would you do with a drunkin sailor. great video!
Thanks Chad! I'm glad you like the video.
Hey @EastCoastATV
What drone do you use?
It looks like a DJI
It's a DJI Mavic Air.
Cool 😎
I’ll be bringing my Mavic 2 Zoom to Newfoundland this summer.
Nice! The zoom will take some great shots.
I run tireject in my tires. Way better than Slime. Mind you it won’t help with side wall blow outs. But you do not need as many plugs. Saw a video of an at tire being shot with a .22. Sealed itself.
I've heard about that stuff before. It sounds really good. I may try it. Thanks for the post.
It seems that everyone is moving to SxS. If it travel up to Newfoundland I would feel like the poor cousin
Not everyone, in fact a friend of mine bought a Yamaha RMAX this year, and sold it. He went back to an ATV. He didn't like the riding experience of a UTV.
Hey Pat. Have you ever kept headin towards st johns. If so what is the trail like as far as brigus junction
We travelled from Placentia Junction Last summer , Aug 2021, unless there has been some grading take place , it was mostly Yes Ums most of the way to Brigus junction
No, I haven't gone into St. John's before I'd love to sometime, but it would mean adding an extra 2 or 3 days to our trip to do it. I've heard that people do it so it must not be in too bad of shape.
If you ever do this trip again please let me know, I love to tag along
We do the trip pretty much every year but we just go with people we know already. Thanks for your interest in coming with us though. If you want to join another group that's going to NL there is a post on my Facebook page from January where people are getting together to do the trip. You can probably reach out to someone there. Good luck with it and thanks for watching!
doing the trip this summer. i am trying to find out where to park the truck and trailer?
A&L Parking is right across the street from Marine Atlantic. You can see where we park in the beginning of the video.
@@EastCoastATV thank you for your response, do you have a legend for the map? I didn’t see it on your website
@@bstansford5115 Sorry, no legend. I can tell you though that the blue lines are the Railbed. The red lines are paved roads. Most of them are legal for ATV's and side by sides. The other colors don't really mean anything, they just help break up the lines.
@@EastCoastATV thank you so much! That’s makes it easier to understand!
@@bstansford5115 You're welcome!

How wide is the X3?
We have a 72-wide … and was wondering if would we fit the trails?
It was 64" wide. For the most part 72" should be okay. You may find the odd trail snug for a bit.
@@EastCoastATV thank you!

What would you do with a drunken sailer lol
Hi, where did you get your cargo bag?
Do a search on Amazon for Rola 59102 Expandable Hitch Tray Cargo Bag. It works fantastic!
Hi do you have any info about going around NB for a week
Sorry, no I don't. Hopefully I can do that sometime too.
@@EastCoastATV ok thanks for getting back to me
What are you doing when you're going to sell the early in the morning

Would love one of your stickers for my ATV do you sell them?
