I'm getting back into the sewing game after about 5 ish years. I was never an expert seamstress and I was still able to follow along with the terms you used and directions you gave. Thank you for this video! My 8mo daughter will love her sleep sack!
I love the zipper tutorial! I showed it to my mom who has been sewing her whole life and she agrees its a great way to learn! Super helpful video I've been having fun making sleep sacks for my friends babies :)
Cute sleep sack. I would sew the armholes before the sides so I wouldn't have to maneuver so much to sew the tiny arm hole. Other than that great tutorial on how to do the zipper.
This was SO incredibly helpful! I have a pattern for a sleep sack and was SO confused on how to sew the zipper in place by the written instructions. Your video showed me in such an easy way how to get this done. Thank you!!!
Not sure if you mentioned the size you were making and I missed it? What size did you make. I was getting reading to cut the smallest size but it seems huge! How well did the size you made for your baby?
This is the extra large. It worked and actually still works really well because of how long it is! I wanted it to last a long time so I liked making it bigger. It’s meant to be looser on the bottom but on the top should lay against the skin so that it can’t touch the baby’s face for safety reasons.
It looks easier when she shows you how to make the garment, it would be really nice reversible with terry cloth. Then you could use it as a bath cover-up if you put sleeves on it🤔👶
I bought the sew easy $2 pattern from joanns ! Looks about the same. Can I follow along w this ? Also my baby is only 8 months but is wearing 12-16 months ! Anyway u can send or help me out w the sizing so my baby has a long enough sleep sack !
I see the link for the fabric you used but it's not working to show it. The description says nursery flannel....is it okay to use any nursery flannel? I have a ton left from other projects.
mine would never sleep in one! My son had one and hated it and I didn’t even attempt with my daughter. I kept her in footies and that was more then he would wear but she didn’t particularly care for them! I bought her one when it started getting chilli (she was about 14 months) and she flipped out! Absolutely hated it! But for whatever reason they just popped up in my head to sew one for a friend 😂 Might have to give it a go!!
That’s crazy! I’ve never had issues with my kids wearing them. I wonder why your kiddos didn’t like it.. But that’s so nice of you to make one for a friend!! ❤️
MySewBliss Oh yeah! Swaddling too. My daughter swaddled for a little bit but my son HATED it! He’d unswaddle in the hospital. They don’t like being confined and are tummy sleepers
Thank you for the tutorial but it would have helped tremendously if you had said how much fabric to buy and which size you were actually making and how old the child was you were making it for. This information would have gone a LONG way to helping many of us out with making this. (I don't have my pattern yet, it is on the way, but Joanne's is having a huge sale on flannel and I wanted to buy it now before it was picked over and/or goes off sale before my pattern gets here.)
I’ve used them for both my boys and LOVE it. It’s nice to know that they are warm in the winter time and can’t kick off their blanket, and it’s safer than having an actual blanket. I think foxes are very gender neutral so I don’t think you have anything to worry about! Congratulations on your baby boy!! I hope all goes well for you! Thank you for watching 💛
That is so frustrating! I’m sorry for the late response, hopefully you figured it out but if not I suggest using some wash away wonder tape, it will make it so much easier to sew in a zipper

Love the zip insertion method, really helpful, clear and effective! thx
Thank you for watching and commenting, I’m glad you found it helpful!
Cute sleep sack. I would sew the armholes before the sides so I wouldn't have to maneuver so much to sew the tiny arm hole. Other than that great tutorial on how to do the zipper.
Yes I think the next time I make one I would do that too! Especially for the smaller sizes. 💛
I can attest to this! It is so much easier to sew the arm holes before you sew up the side seams.
This was THE BEST tutorial on sleepsacks, thanks, you re a star!!..Your zipper method is sooo easy now, thankyou!!!!!
Thank you so much for watching! That zipper hack is amazing, right?! 😍

Can't wait to try this out for my little one! Your tutorial is definitely one of the easiest ones to follow for a mama who is new to sewing 😊
Caroline Tarter I’m so glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching!
Omg, this is so beautiful ❤
I was wondering, is there a perfect or most used size for a round baby neckline? Thank you.
Great video and very detailed. thank you.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching!!
How much fabric should I buy? I want to make a size large sleep sack
These are so easy to make and I can’t wait to make some for my new grand baby coming in Dec.
They really are! And so much fun to customize for each season and child! I'm still using this one for my son months later!

That’s a great idea! I love these in winter and a muslin fabric for summer 💛
Sleeves are not recommended for sleep sacks. Babies arms must remain free.
Me: * knowing how sewing works*
Also me: omg magic
Great video!!
Thanks! So glad you enjoyed it 💛
Exatamente o que estava procurando. Obrigada!
What a peautiful bag and baby

You can use flannel, I’ll have to update that link. They probably just sold out of it
@@mysewbliss thank you!!!
When was this video made. I can't find that mccalls pattern anywhere
I bought the pattern on EBay , but I found out they changed the pattern #.
What fabric do we need to use
did you have to use stretch thread for this, or just a stretch stitch?
I just used a stretch stitch for this. I’m not a fan of working with elastic thread cause I feel like it messes with the tension. 😅
I was just thinking about making these yesterday! It’s like you read my mind
brittanybeauty it’s that time of year! 🥶🥶And they can be way too expensive online 😫

how would you sew a sleep sack that has batton or a sleep sack for winter that has stuffing in it?
That’s a great video idea I’ll see what I can do about making one!

Great to know for next time! Thank you 💛
thank you 🥰
Thanks for watching!!
When you say regular stitch, do you mean straight stitch, or not serged? (Since you started out with serged stitch).
Your nap will typically go the same direction as the pattern on the fabric. Just FYI,
That is true! Thank you for sharing! 💛
what sewing machine did you use for this?
The machine I used in this video was the Bernina Aurora 430. 💛 thanks for watching!!
How long is the zipper?
I made one of foxes n someone said it looks like a dress..😐 n it’s for my January baby boy 👦
I’ve used them for both my boys and LOVE it. It’s nice to know that they are warm in the winter time and can’t kick off their blanket, and it’s safer than having an actual blanket. aaargggggggg…im using stretchy material and the edge where the zipper goes keeps rolling 😭
That is so frustrating! I’m sorry for the late response, hopefully you figured it out but if not I suggest using some wash away wonder tape, it will make it so much easier to sew in a zipper
Can someone please give the measurements from top to bottom.
This will all depend on what size you are making. The pattern should tell you the different length options. Thanks so much for watching!
Could you share the pattern?
Yes, here it is! It’s McCalls 7219
www.joann.com/mccalls-pattern-m7219-infants-casual-outfits-size-s-m-l-xl/14816797.html#q=Mccalls%2Bbaby&start=1
This pattern is out of stock at every Joann Fabrics stores.
Me too! The pattern is sold out everywhere :(
Does 1 yard of fabric make an XL sleeveless sleepsack?
@@jeansaunders1871 You can find it on Ebay but the pattern number changed, it is M4280
