Thats a huge difference!! and these street tires seem already like a performance street tire! I run toyo proxes R888R on both my NA and NB miata with 225 in the front and 245 in the back

It feels amazing on track! Yeah I've been happy with the Falkens on track until now, I went back to them and they feel quite slow now... still a great tire, with good performance and life, but certainly not a slick! The setup you run must rip pretty good!

@@CashedOutCars yeah it does, i wanted semi slicks because then you can still legally drive them on the street here and the toyo proxes have been amazing so far! but i only drive them in the summer and for an all season miata these falkens seem really good!

Wow, what a great video. I run Firestone Firehawk Indy 500s on my NB2 in the stock size (205/45R16). They are much better than the General GMAX AS05s that came on my car when I bought it. The Indy 500s don't really ever chirp when cornering, though I can't really push it too much on the street because I live in the city. The Generals definitely start squeeling in hard corners. For references, with the General tires, I would dump the clutch at roughly 2500-3000rpm to launch the car. With the Indy 500s, I launch from 4500 rpm, as it has way more grip and it bogs at any rpm lower than that. My car is completely stock.

The number one track day mod. I recently tested the Kumho v730 back to back with the other SM tire, Toyo RR. I was only .5 of a second slower on the v730 on a 1.18 minute track. It's crazy how wide of a gap there is in the 200 tread wear class.

There certainly is a huge difference in choice of 200TW, and I do believe the 615k+ is on the slower side at this point. The Falken 660s would likely be much closer to the slick. Thanks for the comment!

Hi Cash, I’m in a series, Classic Marques, driving my turbo MX5 on Yokohama AO52, over here in the in the UK. The series penalty over normal road tyres is 2.25%, full race tyres 3.25%.

@@CashedOutCars yes, that’s right. A standing start Hillclimb (which is basically a racetrack up a hill) or 1 lap around a conventional race circuit like Goodwood. The MX5/Miata is a real giant killer- last weekend I beat 8 Ferraris😁

This car has deleted power steering and fairly aggressive caster which for me means it’s hard to keep my hands at 9 and 3

@@CashedOutCars The real issue is you haven't positioned yourself to have good leverage on the steering wheel. Get a steering hub spacer to bring the wheel closer to your chest and you'll have an easier time manipulating it. It's obvious if you try to twist something around in the air with arms outstretched in front of you versus just holding it a foot or so away from your chest. I also found a smaller diameter steering wheel helped me keep my hands on the wheel rather than hitting my legs.

Do you still have your vr6 Passat. I have a 08 3.6 4motion wagon. Did you ever have to replace the timing chain? Mine is stretched and it’s an 8k job to get it fixed because they have to pull the engine and flush and replace all fluids and shit. The timing chains on the older Passats 06-08 were only made to last 120k miles for some reason. Mine stretched at 121k miles.

While I agree it’s a good idea, Lime Rock has never required them or even suggested them on this track. I guess because it’s relatively low speed with lots of run off and very little to hit. I have a helmet, but this car doesn’t have harnesses so I can’t really run a HANS

stop shuffling your hands. This steering technique on track is utterly hideous and frankly dangerous.
