This topic resonate with me so much because I was once 'the aunt' who put a candle next to my two months old nephew. I was only twelve years old when the incident happened and it haunted me for a long time when I was growing up. I was consumed with guilt which led me to dislike looking after children because I had a fear that something will go wrong while they are in my care. My nephew got burnt by a candle that I left next to him at the bottom of his legs which he 'the baby' kicked and it fell on him thus burning his right leg. Luckily I heard his screams from the opposite roundavel in the village off the South Coast of KZN, and I ran only find him in flames. Oh boy I cried while putting off the flames on his nightie. To cut the long story short I'm glad the demage was not much and I was able to tell my nephew about the incident when he was a bit older and he has always said 'but you were young too and therefore didn't know how to look after a baby' Fast forward my nephew and I are very close and I'm like a mother to him, he feels so close to me than his own mother who happens to be my older sister. To Zenzile I do feel your pain and I completely understand what you went through growing up but I can assure you that your aunt died with a broken heart filled with guilt and pain for being that person who put that candle next to you. I hope you find healing and forgive her even though she is no more, however I know how she felt because I went through the same thing. If I had a chance to talk to you and share my own feelings and my story with my nephew just to make you understand your aunt's perspective and hopefully bring healing to you. By the way you're a handsome man with a beautiful smile even through the scars and pain, your spirit is pure. I'm happy that you've found love through your wife and children and I wish you all the best in life from the bottom of my heart. To Rebogile you are simple the best, thank you for bringing these conversations to the table. With love all the way from Ireland 🇮🇪 🇿🇦♥️
@Pumy Zee, I'm glad you found healing. I'm sorry for what you went through and happy that your nephew has forgiven you and you've both moved forward positively.
I am so moved by all of this story. Time will heal every pain. I am here in Jamaica and I am totally inspired by this incredible story. May the blessings of God be on this gentleman. Forgiveness is the greatest healing tool ever!
Please do Part 2 on how he met his wife and the challenges he faced having to start dating and eventually finding someone (wife) who accepted and loved him for who he is.
We must never take people's traumas for granted big or small things, because we will never understand what struggles they go through on a daily basis because of trauma
When I was 12 I had an afro and we were living in a shack. The candle was on and I leaned forward for something, my hair caught fire. My sister saw me burning and started punching my head to help😢 What a traumatic day. For years I didn't dare grow my hair because it had patches but more than 10 years later, my hair is growing. I am so grateful that my sister was there and that I didn't lose anything more than a few years of full head of hair. Thank you Jesus.
Relebogile you are coming hard with touchy topics .I'm learning that I am ungrateful in so many ways when I see People like Zenzile who have been through the most but ended up being this strong and motivational...Watching your show has taught me to be grateful of every blessings in my life and stop complaining.
We have to be very cruel society to laugh at someone whom we can see that there was an accident that occurred at some stage in his life.this broke my heart
I burned my cheek, eye and eyelashes trying to put the fire out when I was a kid, the candle fell then bed and blankets caught fire. I taught I wouldn't see but my eye healed and eyelashes grow back. I thank God. You are an amazing man Zenzile
I love the ending of his story a lot. Power of God, the love of a mother. His story is similar to my cousin, she was young when she was stuck in a burning house that was petrol bombed by protestors, only the love of a mother that came through. My aunt when she realized that her child was in left in the burning house. She threw herself in with the hope of saving her daughter. Everyone was pulling her trying to stop her, but not a the love of a mother. She risked it all and she said those words if my child dies I die with her.' No could believe when she came out of those blazing flames with her child wrapped up in her baby blanket. Yes the child sustained burns till today she has scars on her face. But guess the through the Almighty's protection and grace mommy came out with not even a single burned. Firemen could not believe it no one believed the miracle they witnessed on that day. Yes nothing can ever stop the love of a mother. Great story Zenzile. You are great story teller too.
I cant even begin to imagine how the mother felt at that moment😭😭its breaking my heart coz i also got burnt by boiling water when i was 10.i hated my self fir e a very long time and i could not even go out bcoz of the scars but today i love them so very much coz they made me who i am today
Hi Lebo...I hope am not overstepping my boundaries but my intention is to offer some assistance.Listening to Zenzile broke my heart in so many ways. There is a book called Journey of Souls by Michael Newton.I believe it can help him look at his accident as a baby in a fresh perspective. It changed the way I look at painful events in our lives for myself and provided an emotional relief.Hope it helps!
Man, what a story 😰 I'm so glad he met that guy at varsity. Just shows that we all need a little nudge in the right direction to unlock our potential. Relebogile, thank you for having such conversations. You are being used in the most beautiful way ❤
Only a mother could go through blazing fire to save her child. Not even a father but a mother. One pastor once said that a mother could even pick up a truck to save her child trapped under it. A mother's love is unquestionable
Thank you universe for the preservation of this lovely human being with a lovely soul. I'm sure the family and community are richer for his story of survival because he's thriving.
Good afternoon my name is Ashley am a teenager todays show touched heart I can relate I heard his story but I think I have more to share about growing up with scars more especially to teenagers who are living with burn wounds....especially in this day and age.
When I was 4 my sister sent me to get shoes under the bed with a candle as my light and when I bowed down my hair caught fire. Fortunately my mom was just coming back from the river with water and she poured in on me it stopped. I feel sorry for you as you are so young.
What happened to you was meant to happen, I believe that you wouldn't be the person you are today if none happened. This happened so that you can find your purpose in life. I'm so sorry that you had to go through all that, you are incredible and amazing in so many ways, may God continue to Bless you ❤
My aunt was also rescued from fire caused by a candle as a child too, unfortunately she lost her twin brother that day. I wish his aunt was around to tell her side of the story. My aunt's story is that her mom was drunk so when fire started they could not manage to safe the other kid. Glad he made something out of his life.
Wow ❤️🔥 I really want to say that this was marvellous. I learnt that forgiveness goes a long way, not only to the people who caused you pain but for thyself. It opens doors to your capabilities and makes you an even better version of yourself❤️ LOVED THIS truly🙌🏼
Your interview skills are the best and so therapeutic Rele. Your guests are equally amazing. There is always something to learn in your shows. Well done to the show producers also. I am a fan. From Zim.
