Bondan is one of the hamlets located in Ujungalang Village, Kampung Laut District, and Cilacap Regency. This hamlet is located in ring 2 of the PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional RU IV Cilacap operation area. The topography of Bondan is a coastal area. This makes Bondan rich in natural resources such as wind and solar power. In addition, most of this village area is a pond, so the cultivation of milkfish and shrimp is abundant. Bondan Hamlet, Ujungalang Village, which is located in the Coastal Zone of Cilacap Regency, is designated as a disadvantaged area based on the Decree of the Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration of the Republic of Indonesia Number 126 of 2017 with an index of 48.42. However, Bondan has basic problems, like the lack of electricity in
the area. The lives of Bondan villagers without electricity have been going on since 20 years ago. This made the villagers less productive. Students couldn’t study at night. Fishpond farmers couldn’t process the harvest. In Bondan Hamlet, it is also very difficult to get water suitable for consumption. This condition is caused because the water in Bondan Hamlet is brackish. To get the water, they have to cross the island of Nusakambangan as far as 7 km.
The distance to this island is reached by small boat in 30-40 minutes, depending on weather conditions. This activity has a high risk of accidents. It is not uncommon for boat accidents to occur just to get water fit for consumption. The location of Bondan Hamlet is very far from the city center. To go to Bondan Hamlet, you have to cross the sea for 2 hours using a small boat. This condition resulted in the development of Bondan into an underdeveloped area.
