If you haven't seen it, maybe look into TCRF's page on Ocarina of Time's "1997 Overdump". The stuff in there left me at a loss for words.
Also, I have played a lot of Minecraft myself, and I remember a lot of stuff I probably shouldn't. More older quirks (and cut content) than newer things. Seeing someone calling something as innocuous as grass 'rare' made me curious; made me feel like I was missing something.

    - He took the time to build a house and surrounding area that he liked

I barely comment on anything because I generally don't like publicly posting things online, but after like five years of not saying anything on this website, I'm making an exception.
I finished watching this video yesterday. A week before today, my only close friend told me he doesn't want to associate with me anymore, and i've struggled to take a restful break without thinking about him. I went to take a walk, went to a café, drove to a big city and went to a museum and got ice cream with my family, played my cello, and tried to do so many things to get myself to rest.
And yet the only thing that made me truly feel calm the way he used to and made me stop thinking about him (without me trying to suppress my thoughts) was this silly little minecraft video. When I realized that last night, my face was just stuck in a permanent smile for a while :D
I cry a lot so this doesn't say much, but I ended up crying tears of joy after you finished reading the end poem. It's as if that got me to finally believe that I'll be fine without him in a while 🥹
and the universe said i love you
and the universe said you have played the game well
and the universe said everything you need is within you
and the universe said you are stronger than you know
and the universe said the darkness you fight is within you
and the universe said the light you seek is within you
and the universe said you are not alone
There's probably no way Dan is going to read this, but I've been subscribed for years. While going through some of the toughest periods of my life, I've had your videos to fall back on and from the bottom of my heart, thank you for making content that makes me feel this way ❤

I've been a long, long time fan of the channel Dan. I almost never make streams, cause it's not my sorta media, but I don't miss a single video here. You've been with me through all of college, my first (and hard) work years, and now, at a happier moment of my life, and in all of those times I really feel like your content has brought me joy, and even a sense of hope, a spark of magic in life, as if everytime I come to see a vid, I'm backseating with an old pal, a sense I can't really get since I've lived alone for most of my life. Yet you, an Irish man on the other side of the world makes videos like this, that make me feel like I have a community to be a part of, that it's alright to be as I am, even if it's not as my society ussually approves, because you are an example of being kind, honest, taking life at your pace. I don't know how to exactly explain it, but this video feels like the sum of all that, of a spark of magic in life, that I'll always be able to come back to whenever I need an extra boost to my morale. Thanks Dan, for everything. You're a good man.

I love the arc of the village raid. The viewers lure RT back to the village and because he doesn’t know he doesn’t notice the raid bar. The first sign that something is wrong is the villagers frantically ringing the bell. The first time RT looks up and discards it as random villager behaviour, but they continue and he’s intrigued. Just then the horn is blown and madness descends on the once tranquil village.

The end poem is really special for me, I had next to no knowledge when my friends asked me to download Minecraft and join them.
I was really clueless(i barely played any other first person games at that time ) but they were kind enough to help me learn the basic and eventually get the hang of it.
Eventually after a fairly long time they wanted to go fight the ender dragon, I was nervous but I knew it was going to be interesting to try,
It did go very well and I felt really good because it was one of the only boss fights I had until then in any game.
When the end poem popped up my friends weren’t very interested but I was curious because it was my first time.
and to this day I don’t think I ever felt as much emotion as I did then, the music combined with the poem and the joy of the moment never made my heart so full and my eyes bawl so much, and I will forever feel joy looking to this moment of reading the end poem.
I enjoyed watching you so much as if it was me taking my first steps in the game and thank you for taking a moment to read the end poem. ❤

Frank didn't know how much time had passed. All he knew was that he wished for the strange man to come back one last time, to release or kill him, it didn't matter anymore.
He had lost track of the years a long time ago, but he still thought back to the time his fate was sealed by a stranger speaking in strange tongues. Back then, he at least had work to distract himself with. Trades to make, despite the materials being worth nothing to him. It had kept the man happy, and him busy.
Busy from the thoughts he now couldn't escape anymore. Busy from the realisation that he couldn't die, couldn't end his suffering. He had tried, many times. But nothing he did hurt, nothing he did harmed him. Whatever the man had done, he couldn't die by his own hand anymore.
So now the years passed, and Frank waited. For what, he didn't know. He had given up hope long ago, he knew nobody was coming. So all he had left now was the knowledge that all things came to an end eventually. Life, Death, Planets, Stars. All he had left now was the fact that the heat death of the universe was inevitable, and maybe, just maybe it would put an end to his suffering.
If it didn't, it probably didn't matter. He feared that by the time millions upon millions of years had gone by, there would be nothing left of the man he had once been. Just a husk of a living creature, destined to suffer for all of eternity. He could feel himself slipping already.

It came at a really low point for me (we were all starting to realize that the covid quarantine situation was going to last a lot longer than we'd previously thought, among other personal things that compounded the stress and depression of that moment for me) and it was literally life changing. For a brief moment, I felt bigger than myself. There's also a bit of the english lit major peeking out there, but I love how you can see how much rt genuinely cares about the games he plays - for Pokémon, it's so cool to me how he'll actually notice and explain an obscure references in the game to older media, which would've completely passed me by in any other playthrough. The black and white nuzlockes aren't just a nuzlocke, but also a love-letter to the game.
I've never played Pokémon in my life. I'm... going to be getting the next generation as soon as it releases (or possibly the gen 5 remakes, whatever comes first) after seeing all of rt's pokémon playthroughs. o7

And honestly I miss the simplicity of just a good old fashioned play through a lot.
