Had a 2011 juke since 2016. Best car I’ve ever had. 9000 miles on the clock, now 80,000. 1.6 Petrol. Great straightforward engine. Good spec. Paid £7800 would probably would sell for £4500 privately 7 years later.
@@ridgmont61 It's been possible for a very long time actually with After Effects, it will peg words or effects to things moving in a scene/the background when moving

A honest review as always Matt. £30k doesn't register with its target audience as 99% will be PCP'd up for £x per month. I'm sure it'll do well , even in a saturated segment of the market - bought by people who have zero interest in car's and driving, just like its competitors. On a side note I remember when the mk5 Golf GTi came out in 2005 it was available in base spec, 3dr, manual, solid paint for £19,995
Hi glad you like it, as i commented earlier i have the 1.0L which i love and it's pretty nippy for what it is, it is currently doing 43.8mpg best run run was 50.8 and i not a slow driver by any means, overall we love it been to Scotland Wales and lots of days out, it had just over 4000 miles on it when we got it now up to just over 9000, no problems at all
People have low expectations for fuel economy. I'm averaging 43 mpg with 60 on a long run from a 2 litre petrol Audi A5. These small SUVs arent as good as they should be
At the beginning, i thought Nissan physically threatened you, so much positivity.😂 But then the old Matt that we love came back 😌 To be fair the interior is nice.
They did a much better styling job on these ones. Only problem is build quality/reliability - Nissan used to make excellent dependable well made cars (I appreciate that was a long time ago now) and now they seem infected with Renault disease....
Obviously, since I’ve never bought a Brad new car in my life, I nearly dropped my IPad when you mentioned that something as bland as that would set me bck £30! I can’t help thinking about all the absolutely smashing cars I could buy second hand for less. The first thing which springs to mind, is sitting in your showroom - or was yesterday. It begins with J & even that is a ‘pipe dream’, but I suppose you het my drift.

We ordered a new mid-range Juke, delivery due February 2024, it's the 6-speed petrol. Tried other major manufacturers but they couldn't give us a delivery date, Nissan did - on-the-spot - with a full choice of colours. It will meet our requirements.
I've always quite liked the Nissan Juke. Even the early ones are very well made and feel solid. They're also quite nice to drive and are better equipped and better value than some German rivals. The Juke is ok in my book 👍
@@HighPeakAutos Good to hearMatt. There are plenty of people out there (myself included) who are more interested in the more practical aspects when buying a car. Also love you very witty comments you always smatter into you reviews. Subtle and clever. Brilliant job as always. ;) x
I probably have the Juke with the highest mileage in the country 2015 plate with 116000 miles on it. The car has never had me stranded. Upgrading to a newer model shortly. From Connect to Tekna Plus.
After having ridiculously reliable Yaris 1.33 CVT for 2 years got sick of wind and road noise and said gearbox. Swapped for a Renault Captur DCI edc (twin clutch). Love it. Basically it's 2 years progress over the Yaris ('13 design versus '11). If Nissan want to lend me the Juke 1.0 T dual clutch, doubt it's 6 years progress but it's probably quite nice. They are expensive though.
I rented this very car but in red, in Copenhagen last week. I was thoroughly impressed. I thought the suspension was excellent, the steering vague but same as every other car. the interior both funky and classy, it drove nice, and my music through bluetooth blew me away with the clarity, and this one didnt have the bose in the headrests, but was full leather and I guess a step down from this car in the video. Its bigger on the inside than I thought, and it feelslike a big car too, Noice.
The only unfortunate thing about my juke RS i had was that CVT auto box, May be silly but it could of been so much with a traditional auto or a dual clutch, the big problem for myself was the A Pillar and rather hard to peep around corners and it did feel cheap but relatively well fitted, more utilitarian as they say, the body roll in the old one was so funny, go 20 around a roundabout and you feel like you are doing 2 wheels, was kinda charming around my parts heh, I said i wanted one when they were released, so im glad i owned it at the end of the day.
Nice balanced review, Matt, as always. I’d be interested to see your opinion on better cost-neutral alternatives. What comparable vehicle could £30k buy used which would cost the same or less over 2-3 years (including depreciation) but give much more driving pleasure and badge prestige? Mercedes Benz GLC or Audi Q3/5 are the obvious choices. Discovery Sport? Jaguar F-Pace? Over to you…
The thing that I like when in your last video about the Previous Gen juke when you bought up an example of other cars that others would consider as 'ugly' due to their unconventional styling that splits opinions, here's how I compare these vehicles to based on their reputation: The Chrysler PT Cruiser would be Quentin Tarrantino: Retro design with front being inspired by the Plymouth Prowler, which is car that borrows it's influence from 60s hot rods, then chrysler makes it unique & takes the front of the prowler and puts it on a hatchback, kinda how to tarrantino maintains a classic film influence to how it pays homage to that particular genre in his movies (like, resovoir dogs, pulp fiction & kill Bill) Fiat Multipla Would be Susan Boyle: A car with divisive appearance but it has a decent engine & was spacious that you can take out the rear passenger seats, to how Susan boyle went from an x-factor contestant to creating music albums & single later on in her career. Nissan Juke Would Be Adam Sandler: A very Unfocused obscure design that tries to be cool & funky, similarly to how Sandler in the movies he stars in who tries to be comedic & funny (like Happy Gilmore, Jack & Jill) his career is overshadowed by the films thart are negativity received but made a crap to of money in the box office, to same how the Juke's relatively poor styling & limited room space in the interior sold in total of a million units of the past decade. That it makes nissan's other best-selling model, the Qashqai look like George Clooney in comparison. But at least the 2nd gen juke was fine but slightly improved a bit of the major problems with the Previous Gen Juke, to kinda how Sandler gets decent roles (such as Uncut Gems , Hustle ) But still, I think there are better cars out there I would say like the Toyota C-hr, Peugeot 408 Or Kia Stonic.
Still if I wanted a car of this size I'd go for the much cheaper Sandero crossover which is pretty much the same car, or even spend a bit extra and get a duster.
My Grandad opted for one of these 2 years ago on a lease due to it only costing £250 a month. Anyway, it goes back next month and it’s alright I suppose. Standout point has to be the Bose audio system though: truly excellent. However, there are quite a few dislikes that come with it. The first is the ride, perhaps not helped by the Tekna+ 19 inch alloys, is incredibly firm in town. The manual gearbox isn’t particularly nice to use, and seems to have developed an increasingly loud whine particularly at lower speeds. The built quality isn’t fantastic either: the panel gaps aren’t what you’d call brilliant, and the plastics creak more than you’d think they should particularly when you put your head back on those Bose headrests. And lastly the 1.0l engine isn’t really enough to carry the juke- sure, it’s fairly efficient at around 40 to gallon, but I just can’t see it lasting particularly well in the long run, particularly with the regular customer of the Juke being slightly dubious when it comes to servicing. Anyway, all in all I suppose it was a decent car for the 2 years, I’m just not convinced it’ll go the distance beyond that like an older more efficient diesel would that the government seem so intent on us getting rid of. Great video as always though Matt, and it’s great that manufacturers are sending cars across to you now 👍
Surely that e-drive button would use MORE fuel. I always drive with my foot off the accellerator where possible getting more mpg. Not much of an idea having to keep your foot planted to make headway.
We had one of these from December 22 to February 23. Not a bad vehicle for the driver. But file economy was rubbish considering it replaced a 65 plate c4 Picasso and averaged 10mpg less a gallon. However the car turned out to be far too small and the worst bit was the tide which is brutal. Front seat and rear seat passenger car sick within 5 miles and the kids hated the back. Had to take it back and go for another contract cost a bloody fortune but I’d say imo not a great car for families or anyone with even the slightest motion sickness.
A button on the key fob to open the boot can be a nightmare: In the old Xsara sometimes i would press by chance and then would need to stop and go out to lock it. Sometimes the person at the petrol station would also pop it open by chance. Them, on the focus MK3, I would sometimes open the boot, assume the car was unlocked, go to the driver's door and try to unlock it just to find out it was still locked. When it was raining, it was a mess. Since then, I avoid cars with those.
Great video as always Matt. I only just watched this but it's timed perfectly as I had a 1 Litre Juke last week for a day as a hire car. I have to say I was quietly impressed. I thought it was quite nippy esp in sport - lol mode! It felt confutable and even plush inside. Got over 40 MPG in the 1 litre Petrol and I noticed that the data on the car was saying it has achieved 59 mpg - there is an eco mode too so that's pretty good. One thing that your vid mentioned was the EV button. I had a Hyundai EV last year and that just smoothly went from battery to engine and vice versa seamlessly without any buttons or switches. Anyway, thanks for the brilliant vids Matt, keep up the great work.
As someone who worked for Nissan when these were released and driven many, yes it’s a little better than the first generation but that wasn’t hard to beat. These are still not great to drive, or to look at in my opinion, I just think there are many other cars for the money, not sure why you would want a car to look like that but each to their own. Great video as always though.
Thanks for explaining the parking sensors beeps, it would explain why every juke leaves about 4 meters to the car in front while in a queue of traffic..
I have a Nissan Bose 2019 & that parcel shelf, ffs. I had to stick the holders in with Sticks like. The handbrake position is crap as well, it’s to near the passenger & you keep knocking their hand. As for the clock 🤦🏽

I have shared your "What's the point of the Nissan Joke?" to all my friends and family. You have become a legend in all of their eyes P.S my uncle drives a new Juke in blue. It's actually a nice vehicle.
Everything is fine with the Juke apart from the transmission..Drove it for a week as my car went in for a repair...The gearbox is the killer...always have to put it into sports mode...exhausting
My other half is a recently qualified podiatrist. Needed a new car for the job Mk 1Jukes are popular with her colleagues. I steered her in the direction of a Hyundai Ix20 instead 😂👍😊
Things must be on the up if Nissan are taking note (see what I did there?) of your thoughts on one of their cars and must be very confident about the work thats gone into the new model to let you loose in one, with their blessing. I just can't help but think, surely there are going to be one or two new EV buyers that will feel a little let down when they find out that the real world mpg is 42mpg. My 200bhp oil burner will best that around town and on a run, if I drive like Miss Daisy do the best part of 20mpg more. I must say, the new model is a vast improvement over the old pig ugly one looks wise but you just know it will still be driven by school run mums who barely passed their test at the fourth time of asking and have hardly improved since and think its everyone elses job to drive safely, and not theirs because they have children in the car.
Good review Matt but is 42mpg all that great? I know I frequently bang on about my 10 year old CT200h but I'm averaging over 57mpg in that, so 42 sounds a bit lackluster. I recently had a courtesy car which was the Lexus CT200h replacement model and I could only get low 40s mpg out of that! Progress...I don't think so.
Quite brave of Nissan to loan Matt a Juke given his views on the previous model! The styling is an improvement and looks quite nice inside although very much like a lot of these SUV/Crossovers or whatever they are calling them these days. Not cheap and the mpg is hardly amazing. No surprise that Matt won't be buying one although there will be a couple on his forecourt in a few years time.
Watching this in an office in the North East of England, your Sunderland comment made me laugh, and many of the others.....made not so nice comments lolol
I am probably not first! Exactly, im second 😭 Jokes aside, the interior is miles better but is made rather dull by the black alcantara and dark plastics. If it had the soft plastics of a Bmw X2 and the jazziness of a T-Cross. Then it could be fantastic! I will admit, it will cost a whole lot more but comparing the prices of crossovers nowadays, it will blend right in. I personally own a BMW X2 M35i and the soft matte plastics along with the aluminium dash makes it feel quite luxurious! Also, as a Sunderland resident, i dont know if i should feel deeply depressed or not 😂
Great review! on 8:11 and 12:34 I was kind of expecting you to say "it's so easy to get in and out of you know", which would be a reference to Top Gear's RoVer James seats 😅
Update: Our 2024 Juke arrived, ordered in October 2023 and delivered on the exact day it was due in February 2024. Built in the UK, British workmanship at its best. We still own Alfa Romeo's (a 156 Sport with 3,200 miles from new and an Alfa Spider with 7,325). In addition, a 1963 MG Midget, 16v 5-speed, Frontline Developments worked. The Juke is just fine. NO REPLY NECESSARY.
WOW! 42mpg! That’s almost exactly the same fuel consumption as I get out of my 3 litre diesel Mercedes CLS. I think I know which one I prefer 🤣. Great review though Matt 👍
Not my choice but i drive a 2017 1.6l cvt for work 165000 miles, the only non service item was a water pump at 155000. Not even a bulb gone. An indicated 43 mpg so probably 38mpg No wear on the interior. If you dont believe me, ask Matt to do a video of it.
Yes this seems quite good value as all new cars are expensive, but I wouldn’t have such a problem with it if wages had kept up with those insane prices … 😒
What can you get for 30k in the second-hand market unless it's a £250 lease deal? It's just not worth it, shame really, but the miles per gallon does take me away from my Audi; £30K gets you an excellent electric car or a VW Tiguan facelift, keep up the great content Matt 😎
Mad that you got a Juke to review despite your strong past criticism of them. Can see it from one point of view but you do have to question whoever is in charge of handing these press cars out 😭
It’s miles better in the cabin than the previous car, which imho was very plasticky. My mother has a new version and it definitely has a quality built feel to it.
Interesting Nissan havent labeled this as epower. Maybe it's Renaults tech they're using here which means it ain't going to be good especially the CVT gearbox. I have a Note epower here in NZ and I'm getting 70 to 85 mpg (4l per 100km) for a 2017 model! It's just a pity the UK didn't get this car, it's brilliant and been super reliable. Google it and you will see why I'm scratching my head that it didn't enter the European market.
😂 it’s funny you’re prejudiced against the Duke I found the car quite refreshing when it entered the market. My sister has bought one and Accents Or Tekna. I could drive it fairly often. We are really big 2 m 150 kg so it’s even for me tricky to get in whatever car nowadays because they make the door smaller, skinnier and lower so that’s getting a problem and I’m 60. She has the car almost 10 years I think and what it has with the mark one that it has very high tires she had big fat tires with a small rim but also the the SUV like is the feathering of the car it’s huge. In the city with a lot of thresholds to reduce the speed it’s really funny to have a joke because you’re really can get these very easily and a higher speed also and really are not annoyed with the speed bombs. I frequently ride also a Mercedes A. There they put an nylon brick underneath the motor in the chassis frame to protect the car from hitting the deck each time you hit a threshold. The mark one has 1.6 and the reduced engines what I hear from a lot of commenters and mechanics are they give a lot of problems so I think the trend will switch fairly quickly in bigger engine sizes or electrical. And I wonder what it says the difference to make a motor engine and a little pollution or excavating the Earth for lithium for copper for all kinds of metals they are very scars and pullover complete ecosystems and re-introduce slavery in a big scale because of the mighty people who can have all the people on the neither neither living and the weakest are not given hazardous and tricky work a humaine and above pay. But returning to the mark two I drove it by the dealer so it was a brand-new one and the immense noise is the biggest problem of the Duke. I am looking for a tow wagon to tow a caravan so that you can both do that unless you have a racing model but then the petrol bills will rise through the blue roof so the Qashqai will be better and is little bit bigger and in size inside more comfortable for me.
Cant wait for Matt to buy this car in 10 years.. “ I bought Nissan Juke for 900£ “

The thing that I like when in your last video about the Previous Gen juke when you bought up an example of other cars that others would consider as 'ugly' due to their unconventional styling that splits opinions, here's how I compare these vehicles to based on their reputation:
The Chrysler PT Cruiser would be Quentin Tarrantino:
Retro design with front being inspired by the Plymouth Prowler, which is car that borrows it's influence from 60s hot rods, then chrysler makes it unique & takes the front of the prowler and puts it on a hatchback, kinda how to tarrantino maintains a classic film influence to how it pays homage to that particular genre in his movies (like, resovoir dogs, pulp fiction & kill Bill)
Fiat Multipla Would be Susan Boyle:
A car with divisive appearance but it has a decent engine & was spacious that you can take out the rear passenger seats, to how Susan boyle went from an x-factor contestant to creating music albums & single later on in her career.
Nissan Juke Would Be Adam Sandler:
A very Unfocused obscure design that tries to be cool & funky, similarly to how Sandler in the movies he stars in who tries to be comedic & funny (like Happy Gilmore, Jack & Jill) his career is overshadowed by the films thart are negativity received but made a crap to of money in the box office, to same how the Juke's relatively poor styling & limited room space in the interior sold in total of a million units of the past decade.
I liked the unique bug eyes on the juke. Adds a bit of variety. So many samey car designs now as companies go for safer dsigns
As someone who works in a factory what does parts for the Juke, it's all new technology to us north Easters..... 😂
Thanks for explaining the parking sensors beeps, it would explain why every juke leaves about 4 meters to the car in front while in a queue of traffic..
the engine cover has a cup holder, presumably for the mechanic
I have a Nissan Bose 2019 & that parcel shelf, ffs. I had to stick the holders in with Sticks like. The handbrake position is crap as well, it’s to near the passenger & you keep knocking their hand. As for the clock 🤦🏽
Bit harsh on the Mackems Matt, they can only screw together what Japan supplies.
What the French supplies....
Good review mate! Although you missed out the ford puma! I reckon it's probably the best balanced of all the small suvs 👍 fancying an ST myself
'Make sure you give the video a thumbs up if you enjoyed it...' and make sure you put your trousers on before you put your shoes on,,, in case you forget .Thanks for the important information Matt.
top gear for you soon, your best video so far
Thanks! Very kind
I wouldn’t bother to watch a revive on the Puke but since Matt is reviewing it I’ll watch it.
I have shared your "What's the point of the Nissan Joke?" to all my friends and family. You have become a legend in all of their eyes
P.S my uncle drives a new Juke in blue. It's actually a nice vehicle.
Haha thanks
Im Disabled. Is it comfortable? Especially for my back and hips!
I'm currently waiting on my hybrid auto being delivered
Everything is fine with the Juke apart from the transmission..Drove it for a week as my car went in for a repair...The gearbox is the killer...always have to put it into sports mode...exhausting
My other half is a recently qualified podiatrist. Needed a new car for the job Mk 1Jukes are popular with her colleagues. I steered her in the direction of a Hyundai Ix20 instead 😂👍😊
Hi Matt another good video two cup holders bet you were impressed and blue colour
Already got one and have a 22 plate Sportage maybe do a video on that mate
BTW, we are in LA at the moment, apologies for the time difference. Good luck.
£30k - blimey, you can get a stunning 2/3 year old quality car for that.
I’d buy a used DB9 😂
Touchscreens in cars is a massive mistake.....thankfully i think the tides are turning slowly......screens yes but touchscreens no.....
Steady Matt - you’ll be weighing-in the L405 in part-exchange against one next!
Matt ❤ Juke
The reversing warning noise sounded like the rear brake shoes were down to the metal 😅
Only Matt gets me excited about a Nissan Juke.
Great reviews from you Matt as always.
Can you please do a review of the new Toyota Aygo X.
Watching this in an office in the North East of England, your Sunderland comment made me laugh, and many of the others.....made not so nice comments lolol
I am probably not first!
Exactly, im second 😭
Jokes aside, the interior is miles better but is made rather dull by the black alcantara and dark plastics.
Also, as a Sunderland resident, i dont know if i should feel deeply depressed or not 😂
I get over 47 mpg in my 2 ltr Mazda CX30, in the 50s on longer runs. The Quality is supreme and the car is made in Japan.
Great review! on 8:11 and 12:34 I was kind of expecting you to say "it's so easy to get in and out of you know", which would be a reference to Top Gear's RoVer James seats 😅
I want to take the interior, the tech., the hybrid ability.... and stuff it into a more pragmatic Nissan Rogue.
Someone from Manchester sniping about the northeast equals pot/kettle
I can tell you, it's clearly the favorite car of yours Matt!
This has got to be a six figure paid review for Matt to be so positive about a Juke.
It’s generally positive. Still wouldn’t buy one for myself though
Mad that you got a Juke to review despite your strong past criticism of them. Can see it from one point of view but you do have to question whoever is in charge of handing these press cars out 😭
Awesome. Slag off some more older cars and get more fleet demos on the channel 😎😎👍👍
😂 I will. Don’t worry
It’s miles better in the cabin than the previous car, which imho was very plasticky. My mother has a new version and it definitely has a quality built feel to it.
The wheels look like those on Matchbox Superfast toy cars I had when I was about nine.
I would great especially the hybrid. Always liked this car. Boot makes it interesting too.
Used a dual clutch for 7 years. Jerky in traffic jam. But like it very much on highway.
Hey Matt can you review a Volvo V40 if you get an opportunity! 🙌🏼
When you start out with a mk 1 juke the only way is up so it’s not surprise the new one is half decent.
The Mk2 is based on the Megane, were as the mk1 is Micra based
Interesting Nissan havent labeled this as epower.
Loved your original video. Even my x thought it was hilarious
Another great review but try as I might I cannot muster one ounce of enthusiasm for these.
0:16 ohhh yess, the video that made me sub to you...
...and the video that made it impossible to unsee Stephen Merchant on every street corner😭
Hi Matt, great video, out of interest how do you film the camera shots with someone in front on you? Another car?
