    In this video we take a Porsche 911 Carrera (996) and completely give it a paint make over. It is quite the transformation. The paint on this car was looking really bad. It had major clear coat peeling, some had been sprayed over, some hadn't. There was major sun damage, and the removable hard top was a different color entirely. This car was looking very tired with all of these cosmetic issues and its foggy and yellow headlights. It was time to give this German icon the love and attention it deserves. We started by stripping the car down and removing everything that had to come off to prep it for paint. We sanded the body and the headlights, did some dent repair for the odd ding the car had and smoothed everything out before taping and masking everything on the car we didn't want to get overspray on. Then we threw on some primer where needed and started painting. The car received three coats of base coat red paint, then three coats of clear coat. When the car was dray enough we removed the tape and masking. When the paint had a bit more time to harden up, we reassembled everything putting it all back together the way it was, but now with a beautiful new paint job!
    We have another project coming out next week so keep an eye out for that!

    Hey guys! I saw your comment on my post on Matt's channel and saw you have a new channel. I decided to jump over and check this Porsche out. This video overall really surprised me on how good the editing, music, and transitions worked. I was trying to figure out the accents, and it made sense seeing the Canada plate at the end. Lol. Not sure if you recorded in 4K or not. I've watched thousands of vlogs over the past few years from all the top channels and smaller ones. You guys have a great start here. I'd like to see that paint cut and buffed after in 4k. Looked great even in a garage with minimal trash. Im always happy to offer any positive reinforcement when i can. This actually gave me a vibe of watching an episode on Discovery channel like the old American Chopper. Really nice guys!

      Hey! Thank you for checking out our videos! Yes we are from Canada haha! Glad you liked the content, and that is great that you think our production quality is good. We are recording in 4k for the most part, but I think on this video not all of it was and we had to upscale some of the footage. The fact that you've been watching videos from all the other top channels and still think ours is good is a real complement. And I know it might sound biased but I think we do a pretty good job without proper facilities. We'd love a paint booth and updated shop, but we work with what we got haha. Maybe one day! Really appreciate you taking the time. And I saw you left a few comments! We'll respond to those as well!

    This really is not critique, not as such, but I would like to see this car get a wet sanding paint correction as there are dust nibs in the paint that can be seen from Mars. Apt as it is the red planet.
    I do get that this is done in a dusty garage but It would kill me to see this daily and know that it would be a weekend and it would look show room fresh.

    I feel like 9 out of 10 factory paint colors are either bland as hell or else red that a child could splash on any bright color, other than red, with a brush and still improve the vast majority of cars. Especially that awful metallic grey business suit kind of color that dangerously is almost the same color as asphalt. white is bland but safe enough in summer, but disappears in snow so unsafe in the North.

    • @RustedRides
      @RustedRides  4 місяці тому +1

      I agree there are a lot of bland colors out there. There was a study that showed that when the economy is doing well, people are more likely to buy a more colorful vehicle, but more likely to buy a bland color vehicle if the economy isn't doing as well. Also I think people choose bland because they think it will do better with resale? Maybe? Just a thought not a fact haha

    • @alan6832
      @alan6832 4 місяці тому

      @@RustedRides Well you have your work cut out for you repainting all the bland cars in bright colors. As for resale, I find small and simple cars like Yaris do the best as I would have just bought one if I could find one at a reasonable price, and they seem to be giving away fancy cars like Jaguar that are hard to maintain.

  • @alan6832
    @alan6832 4 місяці тому +1

    Doesn't red cost more to insure? as by day it triggers road rage and by night it turns grey and disappears, which is why OSHA construction equipment is orange or yellow but not red, and fire engine red predates their realizing this, so some modern departments have tried to get away from red. I get frustrated on the used car market when it seems like 3 out of 4 brightly colored cars are red, and the rest are bland. This 911 is just pink enough to be passable though, not quite for women only.

    • @RustedRides
      @RustedRides  4 місяці тому

      Red is a more expensive paint, but I don't know about insurance. I never knew that about red and road rage and day time night time stuff. Very interesting though!
