Very cool. Thanks for posting this. With the speedlight so close to the camera, how do you avoid getting reflections off the front and back surfaces of the tank?
Subscribing now! Excellent short & to the point video is very much appreciated! You've been able to capture some fantastic images.... thanks for creating and posting this.
Hi, i would like to know if the lens MUST be a macro lens, everywhere i look this type of photo/video people use macro lens at around 100mm, using a 10mm or 85mm no macro would be great too?
Raffaele Ambroselli It doesn't have to be a macro lense. I used just a standard 50mm for this shot. Don't get me wrong a macro would be best, but there are ways to get around not having one. For these I used a combination of a 50mm and a 75-300mm.
Hi Nick, first of all thanks for sharing. I´d like to know if you just mixed water or you used something else to get those slow ink turbulents. Thanks a lot
hello. great video. i tried a few videos the other day and am wanting to do more but i wondered what you do with you water after youve used it? do you jist pour it away?
Yes. After I've shot the photos the water turns incredibly cloudy, making it impossible to use it again. I end up just throwing the water into the woods and filling the tank back up again. It's not very practical and it takes up a lot of time, but for the time being I haven't found a better solution.
I got them from michaels. Here's a link. www.michaels.com/liquitex-professional-acrylic-ink-1oz/MCA4260159.html?dwvar_MCA4260159_color=Quinacridone%20Magenta#q=acryllic+ink&start=1
I've seen a couple of others. However you showed what I needed the type of ink. Thank you
Oh my gosh AMAZING 👍🏻👍🏻
Well done 👏🏻
Trying this out tomorrow I think, thanks for showing how you did it! Looks sick!!

Grand video! Thanks so much. I seemed to me that the flash didn't actually fire, or did I just miss that?
QUick QUestion for such pictures do you focus below layer of water ?
super cool. thanks for this!
will it work if i only use one speedlight to take this picture? If it will, where should i put it?
excuse me ,is that ink the proylene or pen ink?? is there any suggestion?
Brilliant, thanks. Do you have to empty the tank after each attempt?
Yes. It can be a pain in the butt sometimes. Just make sure you do it close to a sink, or in my case close to the door.
thank you so much!!
How can I get the ink?
Could you please share the tank details you've used to create these? Could you also use Plexi Glass cube instead of Fish Tank?
Did you ever get anything back on this?

I mainly just used ink and water. The particular ink I used behaves that way without any modifications.
Wow, thanks fo the fast response. I´ll try with those inks, thanks again
No problem.
what kind of ink did you use?
Awesome 🙀

Nick Wilt thank you. xx
Is this not one of the techniques the special effects director for 2001: a space odyssey and Tree of Life mastered for nebulas etc?
I don't know. It could be for all I know. I might have to look that up.
عمل رائع شكرا جزيلا على هاد التوضيح
Огромное спасибо. Я рад, что вам понравился мой контент. Хорошего дня. - Николас
