Imagine my surprise when walking up to the castle and I bump into you guys. Matsuyama Castle looks even more amazing in real life than can be depicted in a video. The view from the top is absolutely epic too!
Pretty sure Matsuyama Castle is one of the few ones not torn down by Meiji, destroyed in an earthquake, destroyed in a fire or burnt down by the Americans. The castles in Hiroshima, Osaka and Nagoya are all reproductions
Yes, there are only 12 Japanese castle left that are still of the original structure built since the olden times and are all classified as Tangible National Treasure. The biggest is Himeji. The most well preserved is Matsumoto. The rest are Steele and Concrete facsimiles on the outside with modern interiors standing as museums (ex. Osaka, Hiroshima...), then there are modern day recreation of the old castle using the same ancient designs and using the same traditional materials (ex. Kumamoto castle) Nagoya castle is now in a major renovation, they plan to rebuild it totally like the old ancient castle using the same old traditional materials. Can't wait to see it finished.
A point-two-five second room review?! That's the entire reason I tuned in to this episode~! What if there's mould?! What if there's spiders?! I won't be able to sleep tonight due to anxiety~!! Oh, well. Thanks, fella~! What sorts of wacky things will Mudan get up to tomorrow?
Visited Matsuyama Castle last November, this was one castle I thought was worth the effort to visit, especially with the surrounding view of the city. But as seen from original Journey Across Japan
very cool castle experience - if you want another shot at a samurai experience, try the Samurai Museum in Shinjuku... oh wait, apparently it is temporarily closed according to Google. Well, you could have tried on armor there and had a swordman's exhibition up close (very cool) and a question and answer segment with the guy. Overall very cool experience, sad that it is apparently closed.
Hello Mudan. I have a question. I was wondering if since being in Japan for this long if you have noticed any changes in your skin. I would imagine you are using different skin care products, so I'd be curious if you have noticed or felt anything changing since you've been in Japan. Thank you
Day 77 of asking Mudan to complete every single prefecture in Japan and Day 60 of telling Mudan to improve his reading speed and study for the JLPT exam. 39 left to JLPT.

part of it was rebuilt around Meiji, and the Americans took out some walls and watchtowers
