- WW2 Veteran Wiiliam Toombs 493rd Bomb Squadron, Debach in Suffolk talks about his first mission - D Day! He also talks about a crash landing and his time with the 493rd BG,
Love the video. Thank you.
A small correction. This refers to the 493rd Bomber GROUP which was part of the 8th AF out of England.
The 493rd Bomb Squadron was with the 7th BG (Heavy) in the 10th AF originally in the Pacific and then to the CBI.
Thanks for the great video.
do you know of any way to get in touch with Maj. Toombs? My grandfather also served in the 493rd out of Debach and I'm trying to find anyone still alive who has these stories of such an awesome airbase and the brave men who worked there.
My grandfather served there too. Trying to find as much info as I can.
